Chapter 446 Bernice's Request Denied
Sharon stared at the message, completely speechless.
Sharon: [Not tonight, I have to work tomorrow!]
Seb: [Just once tonight.]
Sharon: [Not even once, you can sleep in the guest room tonight.]
In the president's office of Silvercrest Group, Seb read her message and couldn't help but chuckle. He could already picture Sharon's embarrassed and annoyed face.
She was probably glaring at her phone, frowning, with her ears turning red. Thinking about how exhausted she was last night, Seb decided to 'be nice' for once and let her off the hook.
He lowered his head and typed a reply on his phone, a smile tugging at his lips.
Bernice knocked on the door and walked in with a contract, pausing when she saw the affectionate smile on Seb's face. "Uncle Seb, what are you looking at? You seem so happy."
Seb placed his phone face down on the desk and looked up, his expression turning blank, "No deal, I'm not interested in your project."
Bernice sat down opposite him, raising an eyebrow, "Uncle Seb, you haven't even looked at my project proposal, how can you say no deal?"
Seb replied, "I don't need to look, find someone else to collaborate with."
Although Seb was her uncle, he showed no leniency at work. Bernice, well-acquainted with his personality, still felt a pang of hurt as she implored, "Uncle Seb, you're my uncle. I promise if you collaborate with me this time, I won't bother you again in the future."
Seb's eyes darkened. "I said no deal, go back."
Bernice's smile froze, and she spoke in a huff, "Uncle Seb, I helped take care of Mr. Wright for a while before, you can't just abandon me now."
Seb replied, "You were paid for your efforts, don't be greedy."
If Bernice's project wasn't in collaboration with the Thomas Group, he might have agreed. But now, he wouldn't give Daniel any chance to scheme against Silvercrest Group.
When Bernice saw Seb's cold expression, a flash of unwillingness crossed her eyes. She wanted to speak but was intimidated by Seb's icy demeanor. "Fine, forget it then."
With that, Bernice got up and walked out, her heels clicking sharply against the polished floor.
As she opened the door, Seb's cold voice came from behind, "I advise you not to get too close to Daniel, or you won't know how you died."
Bernice gripped the door handle, speaking in a huff, "You won't help me with a project, so who I get close to is none of your business!"
Seb watched her back coldly, saying nothing more. After all, Bernice was an adult now, with her own company, and had to be responsible for her actions. Whatever decisions she made, she would bear the consequences herself.
Leaving Silvercrest Group, Bernice glanced at the contract proposal in her hand, anger flashing in her eyes, and threw it into the nearby trash can.
She had thought that being part of the Smith family, Seb would help her, but she was wrong. To Seb, only interests mattered, he didn't see her as family at all.
Since that was the case, for the sake of her company, she could only collaborate with the Thomas Group.
In the evening, Seb returned with Demetrius.
Seeing his unusual expression, Sharon approached. "What's wrong? Did something happen at the company?"
Seb replied, "Nothing, don't worry."
Sharon retorted, "With you like this, how can I not worry? Don't put too much pressure on yourself; take it slow. Work is never-ending."
Seb nodded, looking at her tenderly. "Alright."
After dinner, Seb headed straight to the study. Not long after, Sharon was in the living room playing with Demetrius when Randy showed up. He greeted them and made his way to the study.
Randy asked, "Uncle Seb, why'd you call me over all of a sudden?"
Seb said, "How's the situation with Daniel going?"
Seb sat behind the desk, while Randy, standing at attention on the other side of the desk, felt the weight of Seb's gaze. His smile faded, replaced by a strained seriousness. "I'm still on it. I've hired some internet trolls, and now there are a lot of people online trashing Daniel."
Seb's eyes darkened, "Don't waste time on that. Deal with those disloyal partners of the Smith Group as soon as possible. Also, keep an eye on Bernice; she might collaborate with the Thomas Group."
Randy listened seriously at first, then couldn't help but exclaim, "No way! Doesn't Bernice know that Daniel is targeting the Smith Group and Silvercrest Group? Collaborating with the Thomas Group now, is she nuts?"
Seb replied, "I don't know. Just keep an eye on her."
Randy nodded. "Okay, got it."
Randy still thought Bernice wouldn't collaborate with Daniel and decided to find her later to ask what was going on. Now that Daniel was targeting the Smith Group, the Smith family had to stick together.
Seb said, "That's all, you can go back."
Randy replied, "Alright."
Leaving Seb's villa, Randy immediately called Bernice. "Bernice, I heard from Uncle Seb that you're going to collaborate with the Thomas Group. Is that true?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end before Bernice's angry voice came through, "It's true, so what? Uncle Seb won't help me, can't I find someone else?"
Randy frowned. "Help you with what? What are you talking about? Wait, I'm coming to find you."
With that, he hung up and drove off.
Meanwhile, at the Thomas Villa.
Perry sat opposite Daniel. "Mr. Thomas, I've done as you asked. When will you help me?"
Daniel smiled, taking a sip of his wine, "Mr. McCaffrey, don't be so anxious. I will keep my promise."
"Mr. Thomas, I have to be anxious. I've done what you asked, and if the Smith Group finds out, they'll know it was me. Then both they and Silvercrest Group will come after me. If I get nothing and take the blame, won't I be at a huge loss?" Perry's face showed dissatisfaction, and his gaze at Daniel was filled with displeasure.
Daniel said, "Don't worry, just wait a bit longer."
Perry asked, "Wait for what?"
Daniel replied, "You'll know in a few days."
Perry's eyes were full of impatience, and he said coldly, "Mr. Thomas, I'm not a patient person. If you're playing me, I'll tell Seb everything you made me do. You wouldn't want Seb to know about your little schemes, would you?"
Daniel's hand paused mid-sip, his smile deepening, "Don't worry, I won't."
Perry snorted coldly, said nothing more, and left.
Daniel watched his back coldly, a flash of murderous intent in his eyes. Who did Perry think he was to threaten him?
If his plan wasn't incomplete, he would make Perry understand the consequences of threatening him!
