Chapter 82 They Don't Stand a Chance

Sharon looked up to Alex's cold eyes. She laughed coldly and snatched the flowers and supplements from Alex's hands, throwing them straight into the trash can.

Paul's eyes flashed with shock, then with some anger. "Ms. Wright, how could you do that? Mr. Seb came to see you, and you actually..."

However, before he could finish, Seb had already turned and left. His back exuded a chilling aura that made people shiver.

Restraining his anger, Paul quickly followed Seb. "Mr. Seb, are we just leaving like this?"

This was too humiliating. Seb had helped Sharon so many times before, but she was so ungrateful, trampling on his sincerity!

"What else? Should I barge into the ward and ask why she did that?" Seb wasn't that pathetic.

There were plenty of women who wanted to be with him; he didn't need Sharon specifically.

Noticing his cold gaze, Paul felt a chill rise from his feet and didn't dare to speak further.

He was clearly in a bad mood now, so it was best for Paul to keep quiet.

In the ward, Sharon looked coldly at Alex. "Are you satisfied now?"

Alex smiled slowly and said, "Sharon, I'm doing this for you. This way, Uncle Seb will completely give up on you, or else you'll be the one who gets hurt in the end."

Her expression was mocking. "For my own good, or to control me? You know it yourself."

"Sharon, do you have to misunderstand me like this?"

"I don't want to see you. Get out."

Alex's eyes darkened. He suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her in front of him. "Sharon, I don't like your attitude."

She shook him off, her eyes full of disgust. "If you like gentle women, go find Ava. I didn't ask you to appear in front of me."

His face turned cold. Just as he was about to teach her a lesson, the ward door suddenly opened as a nurse walked in with medication. "Ms. Wright, it's time for your treatment."

Suppressing his anger, Alex spoke gently, "Sharon, take care of yourself. I'll come take you home tonight."

Sharon didn't even look at him, her face full of impatience.

After he left, she immediately threw the breakfast on the table into the trash can.

Seeing the flowers and supplements on the floor, the nurse looked surprised. "Ms. Wright, these flowers and supplements..."

"They accidentally fell on the floor."

"I'll pick them up for you."

"No need."

Sharon interrupted her. After some silence, she said slowly, "Please throw them away for me."

There was no point in hoping for something that had no future.

The nurse thought Sharon didn't want them because they had fallen on the floor, so she didn't say anything further. After treating Sharon, she picked up the flowers and supplements and left.

Once Sharon was alone in the ward, she closed her eyes to rest for a while, but her mind kept replaying the moment Seb left; their eyes had met for a second.

Even though they were far apart, she could see his cold and indifferent eyes.

At that moment, her heart ached, and her eyes felt sore. However, there was no possibility between them. She had no choice but to push him away.

In the afternoon, after a check-up, the doctor prescribed some medication for Sharon to continue taking at home and discharged her.

The next morning, when she arrived at the company, Paul brought a girl over to see her. "Ms. Wright, the company has decided to assign someone to help with your work."

His tone was somewhat cold. He was still upset about Sharon throwing the things he had sent in front of Seb yesterday morning. However, since Seb didn't plan to pursue it, Paul had no right to say anything as a secretary.

Sharon looked at the girl standing next to Paul. She had a baby face, shoulder-length short hair, and eyes that smiled like crescent moons, looking very cute.

The girl said, "Ms. Wright, my name is Ashley Martin. I just graduated from college, so please go easy on me."

"Hello, I'm Sharon."

There was a lot of work in the lab, and Sharon was indeed a bit overwhelmed. Having an assistant would be very beneficial.

Sharon added, "Mr. Harris, thank you."

Paul's expression was indifferent. "No need to thank me; it's my job. I'll be leaving now, so message me if you need anything."

Knowing that Paul was upset at her on Seb's behalf, Sharon didn't get angry and nodded. "Okay."

After Paul left, Ashley looked at Sharon and asked, "Can I call you Sharo from now on? Calling you Ms. Wright feels too formal, and calling you by your first name seems a bit disrespectful."

Sharon smiled. "Either is fine. You can start by reading some literature today; we'll begin lab work in a few days."

"Okay, thank you, Sharon."

Ashley had a lively personality and was very diligent in reading the literature. She often went to the lab to ask Sharon questions, and Sharon patiently answered them. By the end of the morning, the two had become quite close.

At noon, Ashley dragged Sharon to the cafeteria.

"Sharon, I heard Silvercrest Group's cafeteria is really good. Is that true?" she asked.

Seeing her eyes sparkling, Sharon smiled. "Yes, you'll find out soon."

As they chatted, they quickly arrived at the cafeteria.

After getting their food, they found a corner to sit down.

After taking a bite, Ashley exclaimed, "This is so delicious! I've never had such good food in my life. People working here are so lucky!"

Sharon smiled, about to speak, when a commotion erupted at the entrance.

Looking up, she saw Seb walking into the cafeteria with Rebecca.

Rebecca was smiling gently, her eyes full of curiosity. She occasionally turned to talk to Seb, who patiently answered each time.

Sharon lowered her eyes, suddenly finding today's food tasteless.

Ashley also noticed them, lowering her voice. "Sharon, I heard before I joined the company that Mr. Smith is dating the daughter of BrightWave Technologies' CEO. I thought it was a rumor, but it turns out to be true. However, they are well-matched. Cinderella stories only happen in fairy tales."

Sharon curled her lips. "Yes, you're right."

Seeing that Sharon wasn't interested in gossip, Ashley changed the subject.

As they were discussing what to eat for dinner, a gentle voice echoed nearby. "Ms. Wright, what a coincidence to meet you again."

Sharon turned to see Rebecca standing a few steps away, holding a steak and smiling at her.

She had no affection for Rebecca ever since the banquet, where Rebecca spoke up for Emily and targeted her at every turn. So, her face remained expressionless. "Hello, Ms. Walker."

"Do you mind if we sit next to you?" Rebecca asked.

Sharon frowned, but before she could replu, Ashley quickly responded, "We don't mind."

Rebecca sat next to Sharon, while Seb sat next to Ashley, diagonally across from Sharon.

However, Seb acted as if he didn't know Sharon; not even glancing at her, exuding a chilling aura.
