Chapter 299 I Have to Go Back!

In less than half an hour, David showed up.

Seeing Seb standing there, looking all cold at the villa's entrance, David felt a bit awkward. "Seb, why didn't you give us a heads-up? I could've sent someone to pick you up from the airport."

Seb, not really caring, replied, "I came to talk to Alex. What happened to him abroad these past few years? How did he end up like this?"

Just as David was about to answer, Alex came out, dragging a suitcase behind him.

Without even glancing at David or Seb, he tossed the suitcase into the trunk and was about to drive off.

David quickly stopped him, "Alex, where are you going?"

Alex said, "Sharon isn't dead. I'm going back to find her."

David's face changed, "What did you say? Sharon isn't dead? How is that even possible?"

Five years ago, Sharon fell into the sea, and Seb had people search for a month without finding her. How could Sharon still be alive? David couldn't believe it.

Then he added, "Alex, have you stopped taking your meds again? I'll get a doctor to check on you."

A look of disgust flashed in Alex's eyes, and he snapped, "I'm not sick, and it was Uncle Seb who told me Sharon isn't dead. He wouldn't come all this way just to lie to me, right?"

Besides, Seb hadn't regained his memory and didn't know about the past events, so it was even less likely he was lying.

David chimed in, "Even if she's not dead, you two can't be together anymore. Have you forgotten what your grandfather said? If you go back to the country, he won't give us money anymore, and we'll lose our financial support!"

Back then, after Seb was hypnotized to forget Sharon, Tyler figured that if they stayed in the country, Alex would spill the beans about Sharon. So, he sent them abroad and forbade them from returning, giving them a monthly allowance of two million dollars.

After arriving in Stellaria, Alex tried several times to return to the country, but each time he was stopped halfway by people arranged by Tyler.

Over time, Alex stopped thinking about returning and became more and more despondent, turning into what he was today—drinking and sleeping all day, unwilling to do anything else, a complete wreck.

Hearing that, Alex's steps suddenly halted, and after a long silence, he coldly said, "No, Sharon and I have been together for so many years. I'll go back and apologize to her properly. Then I'll keep pursuing her. I believe she'll forgive me!"

With that, Alex was about to get in the car.

David, furious, slapped him hard, "Alex, calm down! Do you have any idea how worried your mom and I are about you? If you walk out that door today, it'll kill us!"

Alex's hand at his side clenched tightly, and he turned sharply to look at Seb, his eyes filled with suppressed anger. "Seb, it's all because of you. Otherwise, I wouldn't be stuck here, living such a miserable life!"

Seb's face was cold, "You should blame yourself. It had nothing to do with me."

Alex stepped closer to him, his eyes burning with years of resentment and unwillingness, "Nothing to do with you? Haha, I almost forgot, you lost all memories related to Sharon, so you can be so indifferent!"

Seb's pupils contracted, and he coldly said, "What do you mean? Explain yourself!"

Alex sneered, "I know everything, but why should I tell you? You ruined my life! Because of you, my parents and I can never go back to the country! Why should I tell you the truth? If you really want to know, go ask Tyler."

David slapped Alex hard again. "Shut up! Do you even know what you're saying?"

Alex's face was turned to the side from the slap, but he laughed. "Dad, I know you're scared that if you piss off Grandpa, he'll cut off your allowance, but I don't care. Now that I know Sharon isn't dead, I have to go back!"

Seb exuded a chilling aura, staring at David and questioning, "David, what did Alex mean by that?"

David had no time to deal with Alex now and turned to Seb, "Seb, I don't know anything. Alex is just talking nonsense. He's been like this since he went abroad."

If Tyler found out they revealed Seb's hypnosis, he might cut off their monthly allowance in a fit of rage, and they'd be finished.

Seb's eyes were cold, almost freezing, "David, I think I can judge whether he's in a clear state of mind right now."

David sighed, looking into Seb's eyes with some guilt, "Seb, please don't ask me anymore. I really don't know anything."

Seb sneered, "Fine, if you won't tell me, I'll go ask Dad myself!"

With that, Seb turned and left.

Seeing Seb leave, Alex also tried to get in the car, but David had someone stop him, saying, "Alex, I won't let you go back. It's for your own good."

Just as Alex was about to struggle, David signaled, and the person behind Alex delivered a chop to his neck, causing Alex to lose consciousness instantly.

Leaving the villa, Seb had Rufus book a flight back to the country, intending to ask Tyler himself.

Meanwhile, on her way to the lab, Sharon received a call from Zachary, inviting her to lunch.

She checked her experiment schedule for the day and, seeing that there were no long-duration experiments requiring her presence, agreed.

At noon, Sharon walked into the restaurant on time.

After sitting across from Zachary, he handed her the menu, smiling, "See what you'd like to eat?"

Sharon smiled as she took the menu, "Why the sudden lunch invitation today?"

Knowing she had experiments to do, Zachary usually invited her to dinner.

Zachary replied, "Because there's something I need to ask you, and it's quite urgent."

"What is it?" Sharon looked up and met his serious gaze, momentarily stunned.

Zachary explained, "The Lawson Group had a resort project that the Cook Group wasn't initially qualified to partner on. But yesterday, Ms. Lawson's secretary contacted the Cook Group, agreeing to the partnership on the condition that I become the CEO."

Sharon raised an eyebrow, smiling, "So, are you back at the Cook Group now?"

Zachary nodded, "Yes, Sharon, thank you. But a project this big? Ms. Lawson wouldn't agree so easily. Did you have some sort of deal with her?"

Seeing the worry in his eyes, Sharon felt a warmth in her heart as she explained, "Don't worry, there were no conditions. Ms. Lawson fainted from hypoglycemia at an event before, and I happened to help her. She said I could use that favor for something."

Zachary frowned, "Then you should have used it for something more important."

Before he could finish, Sharon held his hand, her tender gaze fixed on him. "Your matters are important to me. Besides, you were forced to resign because of me and Demetrius. I'm happy that I can help you."
