Chapter 176 Mr. Smith was Just Playing with Her

A series of blaring horns jolted Sharon back to reality. She quickly pulled over and stopped the car.

Her hands shook as she picked up her phone.

The call was still connected, and Sophie's worried voice came through.

"Sharon, what's wrong? Are you okay? Are you on your way to work? I shouldn't have told you this now!"

Sharon wiped a tear and said softly, "It's fine, I just dropped my phone."

"Good, as long as you're okay. I really shouldn't have called you now."

Sophie sounded guilty. She had called Sharon in a fit of anger after seeing the news and now regretted it. If anything happened to Sharon, she'd never forgive herself.

"Yeah, I need to drive. Talk later."

Sharon hung up, took a deep breath, and searched for Seb and Grace online. All the results were about their reunion.

Every word stung Sharon, and a suffocating pain spread through her chest.

'All men are the same,' Sharon thought.

Last night, Seb had promised her at the hospital entrance that he wouldn't get back with Grace and asked her to wait three months.

Good thing she didn't wait, or she'd be a joke now.

Sharon put down her phone and started the car, eyes downcast.

Because of the news about Seb and Grace, Silvercrest Group employees gossiped about Sharon even more.

Before, they talked behind her back; now, they mocked her to her face.

"It's hilarious. She was with Mr. Smith for just a few days and got dumped. How does a divorced woman have the nerve to seduce Mr. Smith?"

"I told you, Mr. Smith was just playing with her, but you didn't believe me!"

"I wonder if Sharon can still make Mr. Smith look at her in front of his true love this time!"

Sharon stood in front of the elevator, ignoring the gossip.

Seeing her lack of reaction, the gossipers got bolder and nastier.

The elevator doors opened.

Just as Sharon was about to step in, Laura Russel suddenly pushed her.

Caught off guard, Sharon fell straight to the ground.

"Bang!"

Intense pain surged through her, making her frown deeply and her face turn pale.

Mocking laughter echoed around her, and someone even took out their phone to capture her embarrassing moment.

Sharon bit her lip, slowly stood up, and looked at Laura with cold eyes.

Laura was momentarily intimidated by Sharon's icy gaze. When she snapped out of it, she sneered without any apology. "Sorry, I didn't mean to."

As soon as she finished speaking, Sharon slapped her.

The crisp sound of the slap silenced the entire elevator area.

Laura quickly recovered, her face turning angry as she raised her hand to hit Sharon.

But her hand was stopped mid-air.

Leo stood in front of Sharon, his expression cold. "I don't hit women, but if you touch her, you'll be the first."

"What’s your relationship with her? Why are you defending her?"

Laura tried to shake off Leo's hand but couldn't, her face full of anger.

"None of your business. Your push was caught on camera. I'll take her for a medical check-up, and my lawyer will discuss the medical and emotional distress compensation with you."

"She hit me too! I can get a medical check-up as well!"

A cold glint flashed in Leo's eyes. He leaned closer to Laura and whispered, "You better hope she's okay, or you'll pay."

His tone was icy, and his face menacing. Laura felt a chill run down her spine.

She realized Leo wasn't just threatening; he meant it.

While Laura stood frozen in fear, Leo let go of her, turned around, and carried Sharon out of the building.

Sharon didn't expect Leo to help her after what she said to him last night.

Once outside, Sharon quickly said, "Put me down. I can walk, and there's no need for a hospital check-up."

Although the fall was hard, she probably didn't break any bones. She just needed a few days to recover.

"No, you need to get checked."

Sharon frowned. Her fall didn't even seem like a minor injury.

Just as she was about to speak, she felt a cold gaze on her.

Sharon looked up and saw Seb standing not far away, staring at her with a look that could freeze someone to death.

Seeing Seb walking towards them, Sharon's hand tightened slightly, and she lowered her eyes, saying softly, "Aren't you taking me to the hospital? Let's go."

Leo looked down at Sharon's pale face, a barely noticeable smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

"Okay."

Leo turned and walked towards the parking lot, ignoring Seb's murderous gaze behind him.

In fact, he had to thank Seb. If Seb hadn't gotten back with Grace, Sharon wouldn't have been bullied by Silvercrest Group employees, and he wouldn't have had the chance to play the hero.

Seb had personally pushed Sharon towards him.

Seb's eyes were filled with anger as he stared at Leo. He was about to step forward when Paul stopped him.

"Mr. Smith, since you've decided to get back with Miss Hall, don't get involved with Ms. Wright anymore. Doing so will just make things harder for her."

Seb's steps halted abruptly. It took him several seconds to suppress the jealousy and anger surging in his heart before he turned and walked into the company with a blank expression.

After reaching the top floor, Paul had just turned on his computer when another secretary informed him of what had happened that morning.

"Mr. Harris, should we inform Mr. Smith about this?"

Paul frowned. "You go back to work."

After sending the person away, Paul stared at the computer screen, hesitating whether to tell Seb about Sharon being targeted.

But now that Seb was back with Grace, if he told Seb and Seb intervened, it would only make things worse.

While Paul was hesitating, the internal phone rang, and Seb asked him to come in.

As soon as he entered the office, Seb said coldly, "Find out why Leo left the company with Sharon just now."
