Chapter 136 You Will Be Shattered into Pieces

Sharon grabbed Clara's hand mid-air, stopping the slap.

With a blank look, she said, "I have one father. Thanks to David, the company went bankrupt, and now he's in the hospital needing a kidney."

Clara felt a pang of guilt under Sharon's cold stare.

She yanked her hand away and snapped, "Who sends their father-in-law to the police? You better explain to them, or else!"

Sharon always knew Clara was unreasonable, but this was a new level of stupidity.

"Mrs. Clark, do you realize kidnapping is a crime? He tried to kill me. I've already given the police the recording. Do you think this is a joke?" Sharon shot back.

Clara's face went rigid. Just as she was about to respond, Tyler, who had been quiet, spoke up, "Let's go. No point causing a scene here."

Clara bit her lip, glared at Sharon, and retreated behind Tyler and Sandra.

Tyler gave Sharon a hard look. "No wonder you're Robert's daughter. I underestimated you."

Sharon wasn't fazed and smiled. "Tyler, I should say the same. I misjudged the Smith family."

David wrecked the Wright family, and she still married Alex. The thought made Sharon sick.

She couldn't believe the Smith family didn't know about David's actions against Robert Pharmaceuticals.

Tyler sneered, "You're young and impulsive."

He thought, 'Impulsiveness leads to downfall.'

With that, Tyler left.

Sharon took a deep breath. She knew this was just the start of more challenges.

After leaving the police station, Tyler got a lawyer to discuss getting David out.

The lawyer looked serious after reviewing the case. "It's easier to handle the bankruptcy of Robert Pharmaceuticals. The main issue is David's kidnapping of Sharon. If she doesn't forgive him, he could face a heavy sentence."

Clara bit her lip and fumed, "With her attitude at the station, she won't!"

Tyler shot her a stern look. "Quiet!"

After talking with the lawyer, they decided to have him approach Sharon. If she signed a forgiveness letter, great. If not, they'd consider other methods.

As soon as the lawyer left, Seb returned.

Sandra's eyes welled up seeing him.

"Seb, you have to help David. He's never been through anything like this! If he's sentenced, I can't go on."

On the way to the Smith mansion, Seb had already heard about David's kidnapping of Sharon and his arrest.

His face was unreadable.

"Mom, Dad, did you know about David's schemes against Robert Pharmaceuticals?"

Sandra was taken aback by Seb's question, then frowned. "Does it matter now? We need to get David out."

Seb had connections at the police station, so maybe he could get David released first.

"Mom, he's involved in a kidnapping case. The police won't release him."

Sandra couldn't believe Seb's indifference. "He's your brother. Are you just going to let him go to jail?"

"Even if he's my brother, he still kidnapped Sharon."

Clara, seeing Seb defend Sharon, got furious.

"Seb, you're only defending her because you like her. She's just a woman. Is she more important than your brother?"

"What!"

Sandra turned to Clara, shocked. "What nonsense are you talking about? Have you lost your mind?"

Sandra thought, 'Seb liking Sharon? Impossible!'

Tyler's face darkened, glaring at Clara.

Clara decided to spill it all. "Mom, I once visited Sharon in the hospital and heard it myself. I didn't tell you because I thought you couldn't handle it."

"But now, seeing Seb not care about David for Sharon, I can't keep quiet!"

Sandra stumbled back, collapsing onto the sofa, dazed.

'Seb likes Sharon? How could he?'

She remembered Alex saying Seb liked a married woman. It made sense now.

Barely steadying herself, she looked at Seb with disappointment. "Do you really like Sharon?"

Seb didn't flinch. "Yes, I like her."

Sandra slapped Seb, her eyes red with anger.

The butler quickly supported her shaky body. "Mrs. Smith, your health. The doctor said not to get angry."

Sandra pushed the butler away. "How can I not get angry?"

She glared at Seb, trembling. "Kneel. I've introduced you to so many girls from good families, and you didn't like any. If you liked a decent woman, I'd tolerate it. But Sharon? Are you trying to give your father and me a heart attack?"

Seb knelt, his back straight, silent.

Sandra got even angrier, stomping her cane. "You are not to see Sharon again. She's your nephew's wife. Even if she weren't, I'd never agree unless I'm dead!"

Seb looked up, firm. "Mom, I won't give her up."

Sandra struck Seb's back with her cane. "Say that again!"

"I won't give her up!"

The cane came down again, and Seb repeated himself.

No one knew how many times he repeated it, but Sandra's face grew paler. Finally, overwhelmed, she blacked out and fell.

"Mom!"

Clara screamed, supporting Sandra. "Mom fainted. Call the doctor!"

The living room turned chaotic as servants and Clara rushed Sandra to her room and called the doctor.

Soon, only Seb, still kneeling, and Tyler, silent and dark-faced, were left in the living room.
