Chapter 622 Are You Really Too Busy to See Me, or Do You Just Not Want to See Me?

Upon hearing Electra's words, Ulysses' face turned cold.

"Electra, he's your brother! When your mom handed the company over to me, it was just a small business. It's my hard work over the years that made the Ross Group go public. You can't blame anyone else for getting yourself into this mess over a man!"

"No way! I refuse to let Saul take over the Ross Group. If you dare to do this, my mom will haunt you even as a ghost!"

Ulysses didn't take Electra's threat seriously at all.

He stood up, looking down at Electra, "I think you've lost your mind. I'll get you a lawyer, but you'll still have to face the consequences for kidnapping Sophie."

With that, Ulysses turned and left.

Electra's eyes flashed with anger and hatred as she shouted at Ulysses' back, "Dad, don't go! You can't treat me like this! Dad! I know I was wrong! Come back!"

No matter how much Electra shouted, Ulysses didn't turn back.

Electra's expression gradually turned to despair, and her voice grew quieter.

For the next half month, Randy didn't reach out to Sophie, and Sophie didn't contact him either.

It seemed like both were waiting to see who would give in first.

At the end of the month, Sharon's family returned from abroad and called Sophie, saying they had brought her a gift and asked her to come over when she had time.

Sharon's call came right after work, so Sophie drove straight over.

Unexpectedly, she ran into Randy at the villa entrance.

After half a month of not seeing him, Sophie's heart skipped a beat when she saw Randy, and she unconsciously stopped in her tracks.

Just as she was about to greet him, Randy walked into the villa as if he hadn't seen her.

Watching his cold back, Sophie pressed her lips together and took a deep breath before following him inside.

When she entered the living room, Randy was already sitting on the sofa, chatting with Seb and Sharon.

Sharon saw Sophie and quickly said, "Sophie, come over here. Randy just arrived, too. Didn't you two run into each other at the door?"

Sophie instinctively looked at Randy, who seemed not to have heard Sharon's words and didn't intend to respond. She nodded and said, "No, we didn't."

Seeing that Sophie and Randy were still at odds, Sharon didn't press further and smiled, "Come and see the gift I brought you."

Sophie sat down next to Sharon, who handed her a jewelry box.

"Open it and take a look."

Sophie opened the box and was stunned to see it filled with various beautiful accessories.

"Are all these for me?"

Sharon nodded, "Yes, besides Sunrise Island, we visited several other countries. Every time I saw pretty jewelry, I bought two sets. Later, it became hard to carry, so I bought a jewelry box to store them. Do you like them?"

"I love them, Sharon. Thank you!"

Every girl had a soft spot for beautiful accessories.

Sharon held Sophie's hand and said, "I have another gift for you. Come upstairs with me; this one is private."

Sophie looked puzzled. "What gift?"

"You'll know when you come up."

Sophie put down the jewelry box and followed Sharon upstairs.

In the bedroom, Sharon took a box from the closet and handed it to Sophie.

"I saw this dress abroad and thought it would suit you, so I bought it. Try it on."

Sophie opened the box to find a red V-neck long dress.

"It's beautiful!"

"Try it on."

"Okay!"

Sophie took the dress to the dressing room and came out wearing it in less than two minutes.

"Sharon, this dress fits perfectly."

Sharon looked up at her and was amazed.

In the red dress, Sophie looked like a queen with an aura that drew everyone's attention.

"My taste was right. This dress suits you perfectly, highlighting all the right places. It's stunning! If I weren't a woman, I'd fall for you instantly!"

Sophie couldn't help but laugh, "It's not that exaggerated, but I like this dress. Thank you, Sharon!"

"Do we need to be so formal between us? By the way, go downstairs and let Randy see it too."

Sophie's smile faded a bit. "Forget it. He probably doesn't want to see it."

"Are you still not reconciled after half a month, or did you make up and then fight again?"

Sophie pouted and sat on the nearby sofa. "I followed your advice and apologized to him, but he mocked me, saying I never treated him as an equal. We fought again, and he said he wanted to cool off for a few days. It's been half a month, and he still hasn't cooled off. We ran into each other at the door, and he acted like he didn't see me."

She lowered her head and smiled bitterly, "At this rate, we'll probably break up automatically after a while."

Sophie hated cold wars, but Randy had been giving her the cold shoulder for half a month.

At first, she waited for Randy to calm down before talking to him.

But as time went on, she didn't care.

Sophie was used to being alone now, and even if they broke up, it wouldn't matter much.

Sharon frowned, "Maybe he's waiting for you to make the first move. You can't keep this stalemate forever."

"Don't worry about it. Focus on your baby. If we're meant to be, we won't break up. If not, there's nothing we can do."

Sophie had come to terms with it. Love wasn't everything in life. It was nice to have, but it was not essential.

As long as she didn't die, she would be fine.

"Alright."

They chatted upstairs for a while longer. When Sophie changed back into her clothes and went downstairs, Randy had already left.

After saying goodbye to Seb, Sophie left with the gifts Sharon had given her.

Sharon wanted to keep her for dinner, but Sophie declined.

"You just got back from your trip. You must be tired. I won't bother you. Let's have dinner another day when you've rested."

"Okay."

Sophie left the villa and drove home.

As soon as she stepped into the living room, she saw Maria sitting on the sofa.

Sophie wanted to ignore her, but Maria spoke up, "Sophie, come sit down. I need to talk to you."

"Mom, I'm really tired from work today. Can we talk tomorrow?"

"No, it has to be today."

Sophie frowned and sat down across from Maria.

"Sophie, how are things with Randy? Does he have any plans to marry you?"

Maria asked Sophie this question every few days, and Sophie was tired of hearing it.

"Mom, I told you, we don't have any plans for that right now."

Maria's face turned sour. "No plans? You're over thirty, and Sharon is already having her second child. You still don't know when you'll get married?"

Sophie remained silent.

Seeing her silence, Maria grew angrier, "You still make your dad and me worry about your marriage. When will you settle down?"

"Even if I want to get married, it's not just up to me. Why do you blame everything on me?"

Given her current situation with Randy, marriage was out of the question. They might even break up soon.

Maria's expression changed. "Is Randy unwilling to marry you? I told you not to date someone younger, but you didn't listen. Now look, who knows when you'll get married!"

Sophie was fed up, "Marriage, marriage, all you do is push me to get married. I don't want to get married now. If you keep pushing, I'll move out tomorrow."

"You!"

With that, Sophie got up and left.

Back in her bedroom, Sophie took a deep breath to calm her emotions.

She took out her phone and opened her chat with Randy. After hesitating for a moment, she sent a message.

[When are you free? We need to talk.]

After sending the message, it took Randy over ten minutes to reply.

[I'm busy with some deals right now, no time.]

Seeing Randy's message, Sophie frowned and tossed her phone aside, feeling frustrated.

This issue had been dragging on for half a month, and Randy was still angry.

After a while, Sophie picked up her phone and sent another message.

[Randy, how long are you going to stay mad? Give me a deadline. I don't want to wait indefinitely.]

Randy didn't reply to this message.

The next morning, Sophie went straight to the Smith Group to find Randy.

Sitting in his office, Sophie got straight to the point, "I came to see you today to ask how you plan to resolve our issue. You've had half a month to cool off. Isn't that enough?"

"Sophie, I have a meeting soon. I only have ten minutes."

Sophie nodded, "Okay, I understand. I'll be brief. I apologize again for my previous behavior. I'm sorry I didn't consider your feelings. I hope you can forgive me."

She looked up at Randy, waiting for his response.

Before coming, she had decided that if Randy still wouldn't forgive her, she would suggest breaking up. It was better than continuing this cold war.

Randy lowered his gaze and spoke after a while, "I have to go to the meeting. I'll cancel my dinner plans tonight. Let's have dinner and talk, okay?"

Sophie smiled, "If I hadn't come to see you, would you have canceled your dinner plans? Randy, are you too busy to see me, or do you just not want to?"

Before Randy could respond, Sophie stood up and left.

As she reached the door, she suddenly heard footsteps behind her.

Before she could turn around, she was suddenly hugged.

Sophie's body stiffened, and she pushed him away the next second.

"Randy, what do you mean by this?"
