Chapter 279 Don't Even Think About Stepping Out of Silvercrest Group's Door
Paul asked, "Where's your school? I'll give you a ride back."
Demetrius was about to spill when the sound of high heels clacking on the ground caught their attention. Paul and Demetrius turned to see Sharon striding over, looking pissed.
Before Demetrius could duck, Sharon locked eyes with him and snapped, "Demetrius, get over here!"
She was fuming, but her face was a blank slate.
She'd just rolled into the lab that morning when Bessie called, saying Demetrius was MIA. She nearly passed out hearing that.
In a panic, she hit up Zachary, who quickly tracked down Demetrius.
She never thought Demetrius would have the guts to come straight to Silvercrest Group to find Seb. The kid must've already decided Seb was his real dad; otherwise, he wouldn't have shown up here.
Sharon stormed over to Demetrius, yanking him behind her, and shot Paul a wary look.
"Mr. Harris, sorry for the hassle Demetrius caused. If he shows up again, hit me up right away."
"His name's Demetrius?" Paul looked torn. After meeting Zachary yesterday, he planned to stay out of Sharon and her kid's business, but seeing Demetrius now, he felt all kinds of conflicted.
The kid looked way too much like Seb. If Seb found out about Demetrius, he'd definitely go after custody.
Sharon frowned but still said, "Yeah, Mr. Harris. Please don't tell Seb about Demetrius being here today."
Even though Seb might not fight for custody, she figured it was best to avoid the drama.
Paul was about to say something but then just gave a bitter smile. "Might be too late for that."
The next second, Sharon felt a sharp gaze on her. She turned around and froze.
Seb was walking towards them, eyes locked on Demetrius.
Demetrius seemed to sense it too and looked up at Seb.
The moment their eyes met, both Seb and Demetrius were stunned.
Suddenly, Seb's phone rang.
He answered, and an excited voice blared from the other end, "Seb, remember I told you I saw a kid who looked just like you? You asked me to check on Sharon's kid yesterday, and guess what..."
Before the guy could finish, Seb cut him off, "I already know."
"What do you kno..."
Seb hung up before the guy could finish.
He pocketed his phone and looked at the frozen Sharon, "Care to explain?"
Sharon thought she'd freak out when Seb found out about Demetrius, but now that it was happening, she felt oddly calm.
She looked at Seb coolly and smiled, "Mr. Smith, I don't owe you an explanation."
Seb's face darkened, and his voice turned icy, "Ms. Roach, why does this kid look so much like me? Don't tell me it's a coincidence."
The moment he saw Demetrius, he knew this had to be his kid.
But he had no ties with Sharon, so how could she have his kid?
Sharon's expression didn't change as she nodded, "It is a coincidence, Mr. Smith. We didn't know each other before. There's no way Demetrius is connected to you, right?"
Seb glared at her and said slowly, "Whether there's a connection or not, a paternity test will tell."
Sharon's heart dropped like a rock. No way she could let him do a paternity test, or it was game over.
Even though she was freaking out inside, she kept her cool and met Seb's stare. "Mr. Smith, if I remember right, you’ve got a fiancée. If you want a kid, have one with her. Doing a paternity test on someone else's kid is kinda nuts, don’t you think?"
"Ms. Roach, are you resisting because you’re hiding something?"
"I just think you're making a big deal out of nothing, Mr. Smith. We’ve never met before, and we’ve got no connection, right?"
Seb’s gaze turned icy. Before coming to Aidamore, he had no ties with Sharon, which is why he wanted to confirm with a paternity test.
Seeing Seb stay silent and just giving her the cold shoulder, Sharon continued, "Mr. Smith, we’re leaving now."
As she was about to take Demetrius and bounce, Seb said coldly, "Without my say-so, you’re not leaving Silvercrest Group today."
Sharon’s hand clenched at her side, and she gritted her teeth, "Mr. Smith, holding someone against their will is illegal!"
Seb looked at her, eyes like ice, "Ms. Roach, I don’t want to use force, so I hope you’ll cooperate. If the paternity test shows this kid has nothing to do with me, I’ll personally apologize."
But if Demetrius was his, he wasn’t letting it slide.
Just as he finished, a cold voice cut in.
"Mr. Smith, if you lay a finger on my girlfriend, I won’t let Silvercrest Group off the hook."
Sharon’s eyes widened in surprise, "Zachary, what are you doing here?"
Earlier, when Zachary tracked down Demetrius, he said he’d come over, but Sharon had stopped him.
Zachary had agreed, but here he was anyway.
Zachary walked over, pulling her into his arms, and said softly, "If I didn’t come, I wouldn’t have known the president of Silvercrest Group was bullying a woman."
The last bit was aimed at Seb.
Zachary and Seb’s gazes clashed in the air.
Seb’s eyes narrowed dangerously, "Mr. Cook, this doesn’t concern you."
"How could it not? Sharon’s my girlfriend, so it’s my business. But Mr. Smith, I’m wondering if you’re claiming someone else’s kid because you can’t have your own. If that’s the case, I can recommend some good hospitals."
Zachary’s tone was mocking, and he even glanced at Seb’s private area, eyes full of fake sympathy.
Seb’s face darkened, "Zachary, you got a death wish?"
Zachary smiled, "Mr. Smith, we’re in Aidamore, not Metropolis."
The Cook Group had been in Aidamore for over a hundred years. If it came to a showdown with Seb, Zachary wasn’t scared.
Zachary and Seb stood off, neither backing down.
The tension was thick, like it could blow up any second.
At that moment, Paul stepped forward and whispered, "Mr. Smith, the amusement park project is still in progress. We shouldn’t clash with the Cook Group right now."
Seb shot him a cold look, "Shut up!"
Right now, he just wanted to know if Demetrius was his. As for the amusement park project, if Zachary dared to mess with it, he’d make sure it crashed and burned!
