Chapter 495 Hurry to Aidamore
Leo reached out and grabbed the document, his face darkening as he read it.
"What's up, Mr. Wendy?"
Leo tossed the document onto the table with a cold laugh. "Oh, nothing major. Just some useless evidence Seb managed to dig up."
The fact that Vertex Innovations Group had hired internet trolls to spread rumors about Silvercrest Group's chips wasn't enough to rattle him. Soon enough, those rumors would become reality.
Daniel glanced at the document on the table and smirked. "As long as it's nothing serious. If there's nothing else, I'll be heading out."
"Fine, but I hope you remember what you need to do, Mr. Thomas."
A flash of coldness crossed Daniel's eyes, but he kept his smile. "Don't worry, Mr. Wendy. I won't let you face Silvercrest Group alone."
With that, he set down his wine glass and left.
Leo watched him leave, his gaze icy. He downed his wine in one gulp and was about to head to his study to handle some paperwork when a servant approached with a troubled expression. "Mr. Wendy, Mr. Jerold Wendy still refuses to eat."
Because Jerold had been disobedient, Leo hadn't taken him to meet Ayla and had instead brought him back to the villa. As soon as they returned, Jerold had locked himself in his room, refusing to eat in an attempt to force Leo to take him to see Ayla.
"If he doesn't want to eat, let him go hungry," Leo said. After all, a kid missing a meal or two wouldn't be a big deal.
"Yes, Mr. Wendy."
Seb hadn't come home all night. Sharon, used to having Seb sleep beside her, found it hard to sleep with the empty space next to her. The next morning, she got up, got ready, and asked Dana to pack two breakfasts so she could take one to Seb at the office.
"Sure thing, Ms. Roach," Dana said, quickly packing the breakfasts and handing them to Sharon. Noticing Sharon's puffy eyes, Dana hesitated. "Ms. Roach, did you not sleep well last night?"
"Yeah, but don't worry. I'm heading to the office now. If Demetrius wakes up, tell him I'm at work and he can play by himself today."
"Understood."
Sharon arrived at the office just before eight. She took the elevator to the top floor, where she saw the secretaries in the president's office either on the phone or copying documents, all looking very serious.
Paul was checking some materials when he noticed Sharon. He quickly set them down and approached her. "Ms. Roach, what brings you here?"
"Seb didn't come home last night, and I figured he might not have had time for breakfast, so I brought him some."
Paul sighed. "Mr. Smith has been busy all night and hasn't even had a sip of water. He didn't touch the breakfast I bought him this morning."
Seeing the dark circles under Paul's eyes, Sharon frowned. "Did none of you sleep last night?"
"Not really. With the chip issue, almost everyone in the company is working overtime. We managed to catch a few winks here and there, but Mr. Smith hasn't slept at all."
Sharon nodded. "I see. Is he in his office now?"
Paul shook his head. "No, he's in a meeting, but it should be ending soon. You can wait for him in his office."
"Alright."
Sharon sat on the sofa in Seb's office for a while until she heard the door open. She turned her head quickly. "Seb, is your meeting over?"
Seb looked surprised to see her. "What are you doing here?"
"I figured you wouldn't have time for breakfast, so I brought you some."
Seb set down his documents and sat across from her. Noticing there were two breakfasts, he asked, "You haven't eaten either?"
"Nope." Sharon opened the breakfasts and handed one to him. "I came to eat with you. Paul told me you didn't touch the breakfast he bought you this morning."
"Yeah, I've been too busy."
"No matter how busy you are, you need to eat. I saw how busy your secretaries are too. Did they also stay up all night? Is the company's problem that serious?"
"Kind of. There's an issue with our chips, and a lot of our partner's machines have broken down. We're investigating the cause. If it's due to our chips, we might face a huge compensation bill."
Sharon frowned, worry flashing in her eyes. "I can't help much, but I can make sure you're taken care of. Are you coming home tonight?"
"Probably not. There's still a lot to handle."
"Alright, eat your breakfast. I'll go home and pack a couple of changes of clothes for you."
"Okay."
Seb had only eaten half of his breakfast when Paul came in with a serious expression. "Mr. Smith, the Riddick Group in Aidamore also wants to terminate their contract with us."
Since last night, dozens of partners had already terminated their contracts with Silvercrest Group. If this continued, the company would soon face a financial crisis.
Seb set down his breakfast and stood up. "Get in touch with Mr. Elton Riddick's secretary and set up a meeting. Book the earliest flight to Aidamore. I'll handle this myself."
As Seb hurried out, Sharon called after him. "I'll pack some clothes and bring them to the airport."
Seb turned back, walked quickly to her, and hugged her tightly. "I'll be really busy for a while. Please take care of Demetrius."
"Don't worry about us. We'll be fine."
He kissed her forehead, then left quickly.
Sharon looked at the barely touched breakfast, sighed, and packed it up before leaving Silvercrest Group. Back at the villa, she quickly packed two sets of clothes for Seb and had the driver take them to the airport.
Dana watched her rush around, feeling uneasy. "Ms. Roach, is something wrong with Mr. Smith's company?"
Sharon turned to see Dana's worried expression and quickly reassured her. "Dana, it's nothing major. Just a busy period."
Seeing Sharon's calm demeanor, Dana finally relaxed. "Alright."
In the evening, Randy came to the villa. "Ms. Roach, I need to talk to you."
Seeing Randy's serious expression, Sharon felt a pang of anxiety. "Let's talk in the study."
In the study, Randy handed Sharon a document and a bank card. "Ms. Roach, Uncle Seb asked me to give these to you before he left for Aidamore. The card's password is your birthday."
Sharon didn't take them, her voice cold. "What's this about? He's not going to Aidamore forever. Why give these to you to pass on?"
"Ms. Roach, Uncle Seb was in a hurry and didn't have time to give them to you himself. Otherwise, he would have."
"I don't want them. I'll wait for him to come back."
Randy sighed and placed the items on the table. "Ms. Roach, this crisis is different. If it's not handled well, Silvercrest Group could go bankrupt. Uncle Seb prepared these for you and Demetrius after finding out he's his son. He just never had the chance to give them to you. Please take them. If the worst happens, these will help Uncle Seb start over."
Sharon was silent for a moment before nodding. "Alright, I'll take them. Is that all you came for?"
"Yes, I have to get back to work."
"I'll see you out."
After seeing Randy off, Sharon returned to the study, took the document and bank card upstairs, and locked them in the safe.
The next morning, Dana knocked on Sharon's door. "Ms. Roach, there's a man outside who says he's your brother."
Brother? Sharon thought it might be Leo and coldly replied, "I don't know him. Tell him to leave."
"Yes, ma'am."
After Dana left, Sharon got up and got ready. By the time she went downstairs, half an hour had passed. Demetrius was already at the table, eating breakfast and holding a piece of bread bigger than his face, taking small bites.
Sharon smiled and walked over. "Good morning, Demetrius."
"Good morning, Mom."
Sharon sat across from him as Dana brought her breakfast. After eating, Sharon checked her phone. Seb hadn't messaged her since yesterday, indicating he was really busy. She hesitated but sent him a message anyway.
"How's the trip to Aidamore going?"
After several minutes with no reply, Sharon put her phone away and picked up a book to pass the time. Soon, Dana approached her, looking hesitant.
"Ms. Roach..."
Sharon set down her book and looked up. "What's wrong, Dana?"
"That man claiming to be your brother is still outside. He has a child with him, and it's really cold out. The child looks frozen. Should you check on them?"
Sharon paused, then stood up. "Alright, I'll take a look."
At the villa's entrance, Sharon saw through the monitor that it was indeed Leo and Jerold. Her eyes turned cold. She opened the door and looked at Leo icily. "What do you want?"
Leo's eyes softened when he saw her. "Sharon, I brought Jerold to apologize to Demetrius. He knows he was wrong."
He pushed Jerold forward. Sharon glanced at the boy, whose face was red from the cold and who looked listless, but his eyes showed a hint of resentment and hostility.
"Ms. Roach, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pushed Demetrius yesterday. I know I was wrong. Can you and Demetrius forgive me?"
Seeing Jerold's reluctance, Sharon looked at Leo. "Are you sure he really knows he was wrong?"
"Yes, he asked me to bring him here to apologize this morning. Sharon, don't you believe me?"
Sharon was silent for a moment before turning to Dana. "Go get Demetrius."
