Chapter 210 I Was Too Worried About You

Sharon walked to the door and peeked through the peephole, spotting Leo with a surprised look.

They had just parted ways, so why was he back?

As Sharon hesitated, Leo's deep voice came from outside, "Sharon, I just remembered something. Ashley might be involved in the data leak."

Sharon's expression tightened, and she quickly opened the door.

"What detail?"

Seeing Sharon only crack the door open, Leo's eyes darkened.

"Once, during dinner with Ashley, she got a call and rushed back to the lab, saying she forgot something. I just realized, what could be so important that she had to go back lat at night? It seemed odd to me."

Sharon's eyes flickered. "If she was copying data for the Pacific Wellness Institute, she wouldn't have told you she was going back to the lab. She'd make up an excuse, right?"

Leo shook his head. "I don't know. I just thought of it and wanted to tell you. Maybe I'm overthinking or just worried about you."

Sharon found Leo's words odd but didn't dwell on it.

"Thanks for your concern. Let's wait for the police investigation."

Leo was about to speak when the elevator dinged open.

They both looked toward the elevator, seeing Seb step out. A cold glint flashed in Leo's eyes, and his hand clenched.

Sharon frowned. "Mr. Smith, what brings you here?"

Seb and Leo, both in silver-gray suits, looked quite striking together.

But Sharon was already stressed about the data leak and didn't expect both Seb and Leo to show up at her door.

Seeing the coldness in Sharon's eyes, Seb's gaze darkened.

Seb had come to tell Sharon he broke up with Grace and wanted another chance with her. But with Leo there, it wasn't the right time.

"I came to talk about the data leak."

"If you want details, go to the police. I told them everything today."

Seb's jaw tightened. "I have other things to discuss with you."

"What?"

Sharon felt there was nothing more to say to Seb.

Seb didn't answer but looked at Leo, who wasn't leaving. Seb finally said coldly, "Mr. Wendy, I need to talk to Sharon alone. Could you excuse us?"

"Mr. Smith, I'm off work, and Sharon is my sister."

In other words, he wasn't going anywhere.

Seb frowned, clearly displeased.

Though Sharon felt uncomfortable, she didn't want to argue with Seb, so she stayed silent.

"Mr. Wendy, you and Sharon aren't related by blood. Her matters are none of your concern."

Leo smirked. "Sharon's pretty naive, so I gotta look out for her."

Their eyes locked, and the tension was palpable.

Seb didn't buy that Leo saw Sharon as a real sister, especially since they weren't close. Plus, Leo had competed with him for the "Tears of Eternity" at the auction, which darkened Seb's mood.

"In that case, I should call you 'brother,' Mr. Wendy."

Leo sneered. "I've never seen anyone as shameless as you, Mr. Smith."

Sharon frowned at Seb. "Mr. Smith, what do you want? If you're not gonna say it, you can leave."

Seb paused, realizing it wasn't the right time. "We'll talk next time."

The door slammed shut in response.

Leo and Seb exchanged hostile glares.

Leo smirked, pleased with Sharon's reaction. "Mr. Smith, aren't you leaving?"

"Mr. Wendy, don't you think you're overstepping?"

Leo's smile widened. "If you like standing here, be my guest. Goodbye."

Leo walked to the elevator, and Seb eventually left too.

Late at night, Sharon got a call from Sophie's phone, but a stranger's voice spoke. "Hello, is this Ms. Wright? The owner of this phone is drunk at our bar. Your number is on speed dial. Can you come pick her up?"

Sharon arrived at the bar at 2 AM.

She found Sophie passed out on a couch in a private room. Sharon frowned. Sophie rarely got this drunk; something must've happened.

The Lee family lived far away, and waking them up wasn't an option. Sharon decided to take Sophie to her place until she sobered up.

After struggling to get Sophie into the car and fastening her seatbelt, Sophie suddenly hugged Sharon's neck and started crying. "Jerk, how could you do this to me?"

Sharon frowned, thinking it might be about Daniel.

She tried to comfort Sophie but forgot how unpredictable drunk people could be. Sophie mistook Sharon for the person who hurt her and started scratching and clawing. By the time Sophie calmed down, Sharon's arms and face were covered in painful red marks.

Sharon thought, 'If Sophie gets drunk again, I'm never picking her up. Too much trouble.'

With Sophie asleep, Sharon drove off.

Unnoticed by Sharon, a black, unlicensed car slowly started and followed her.
