Chapter 53 Not Someone You Can Mess With
Seb and Paul stood in front of Sharon.
Paul smiled and said, "What a coincidence, Ms. Wright, are you dining here tonight too?"
Sharon nodded. "Yes, I have an appointment with a friend."
"Then I'll go get the car first and give you a ride back later."
"No need, I drove here."
"Oh, alright. Could you watch Mr. Smith for a bit? He's overdone it on the drinks tonight, and I was worried about leaving him here by himself.."
Sharon glanced at Seb who seemed clear-headed, with only a faint smell of alcohol, showing no signs of being drunk.
Seeing her confusion, Paul explained, "Mr. Smith is always like this, whether he's drunk or not. He may look normal, but he might already be drunk."
Considering that Seb had helped her several times before, it would seem unkind not to agree.
"Alright, I got it." Sharon nodded.
Seeing her agree, Paul turned and quickly walked towards the parking lot.
As soon as he left, silence fell between Sharon and Seb.
His presence was impossible to ignore, so she lowered her head and stared at her shoes.
"How's your health?" he asked.
Sharon was startled, then realized Seb was referring to the incident in Maple Valley where she was almost assaulted. She looked up and said, "I'm almost fully recovered. The tinnitus is gone too."
"Good," Seb responded blandly and said nothing more.
Sharon lowered her head again, feeling that time was passing slowly.
She didn't notice that as she lowered her head, Seb's gaze fell subtly on her. Nor did she notice that a camera captured this moment as a car passed by on the nearby road.
A black Maybach stopped at the restaurant entrance. Paul got out and helped Seb into the car. "Ms. Wright, thank you. Where's your car parked?"
"Right at the restaurant entrance." Sharon waved and walked towards her car.
Seeing her walk to a pink car and get in, Paul couldn't help but say, "This car is very popular among girls recently. My girlfriend is also planning to buy one, but she hasn't decided on the color yet."
Seb glanced at the pink car outside the window and said indifferently, "It does look quite nice."
Back home, Sharon took a shower and went to bed.
Early the next morning, she was awakened by the ringing of her phone.
She grabbed her phone and answered with her eyes closed, "Hello?"
"Sharon, what's with that photo online!" Alex's angry voice came through.
Sharon frowned, wondering why he was calling so early and throwing a fit. "What photo?"
He said, "The one of you and Uncle Seb standing at the restaurant entrance. Do you know how many people have called me this morning asking about it?"
The photo at the restaurant entrance.
Sharon, puzzled, hung up and was about to check Instagram to see what was going on when she saw Sophie had sent her dozens of messages.
Sophie: [Sharon, what's with that photo?]
Sophie: [Don't you think Seb looks at you with some affection?]
Sophie: [Where are you? Show yourself. Could Seb really like you?]
Sophie: [Because you're married, he hides his feelings for you but still can't help but steal glances?]
Reading Sophie's messages, Sharon was speechless. Why did so many people think Seb had feelings for her?
However, when she saw the photo, she was stunned.
The scene was indeed from last night at the restaurant entrance. Sharon had her head down, while Seb slightly turned his head to look at her, with a gleam in his eyes.
Moreover, the restaurant's lighting poured down from above, casting a soft glow on his usually cold profile, making his gaze appear much gentler.
From this angle, it was indeed easy to misinterpret. But it must have been the angle of the shot. He was talking to her at the time, so he naturally looked at her, and it happened to be captured.
Sharon immediately called Sophie, "What's with that photo? Who took it?"
Sophie said, "You're finally awake. That photo was taken by a somewhat famous photographer. He posted it on his personal Instagram, and it unexpectedly went viral. Everyone online is praising you and Seb as a perfect match."
Sharon was speechless.
Although the photo only showed their profiles, anyone who knew them could recognize them instantly. No wonder Alex was so angry earlier.
Sharon said, "It's just the angle of the shot. I'll contact Uncle Seb. That's it for now."
If this situation escalated, it wouldn't do her any good.
After hanging up, Sharon thought for a moment and decided to contact Paul instead of Seb.
Knowing she was calling about the photo, Paul quickly said, "Ms. Wright, we're already in touch with the photographer to handle it. Don't worry."
"Okay, please let me know once it's resolved."
"Alright, I'm really sorry. If I'd known, I wouldn't have asked you to keep an eye on Mr. Smith last night."
Sharon pursed her lips. "What's done is done. Just handle it quickly."
Hopefully, not too many people had seen the photo.
"Alright, I'll get back to work." Putting away his phone, Paul looked at Seb behind the desk. "Mr. Smith, our people are already on their way to the photographer's house, and we've contacted Instagram to delete the photo. But there may still be some photos saved on other people's phones that we can't handle."
Seb's eyes were cold. "Delete all that can be deleted."
As soon as he finished speaking, the office door was suddenly pushed open.
Alex stormed in, slamming a printed copy of the photo on the desk. "Uncle Seb, isn't it too much to stare at my wife so blatantly?"
Seb slowly looked up, his gaze coldly meeting Alex's fiery eyes.
Even though he was sitting and Alex was standing, his presence still overshadowed Alex.
He said, "It's just a baseless photo. Is it worth overreacting?"
Alex sneered, "Baseless? Dare you say you have no feelings for Sharon?"
Seb's expression was indifferent. "Whether I have feelings for someone is none of your business."
After sensing the cold pressure emanating from him and his icy gaze, the fire in Alex's heart burned even hotter. "If you don't keep your feelings in check, I'll tell Grandpa and Grandma and let them handle it."
Seb raised an eyebrow, his aura becoming dangerously intimidating. "Are you threatening me?"
Under his icy stare, Alex felt a chill down his spine and involuntarily took a step back. But thinking of Seb's feelings for Sharon, Alex regained his confidence. "Uncle Seb, how dare I threaten you? I'm just reminding you that Sharon is not someone you can mess with!"
