Chapter 465 How Dare You Talk to Me Like That?

Seb didn't waste any words with her. He just gave a nod to the staff member trailing him, who quickly went on stage and plugged a USB into the laptop. In no time, a video popped up on the big screen.

In a hidden corner, Ayla was seen handing a bank card to a staff member in uniform.

"There's $200,000 on this. Go and tear up the Silvercrest Group's bid documents. Once it's done, I'll give you another $200,000."

The staff member hesitated but eventually took the card.

"Alright, but if you don't keep your word, I'll expose everything."

With that, the staff member walked away.

Ayla's face went pale as she watched the video, shaking her head in disbelief. "No... this can't be real. That spot is a surveillance blind spot. How could it be recorded?"

Seb's eyes were icy. "The surveillance caught everything. Even if you want to deny it, it's useless. The police will be here soon. Save your excuses for them."

'No way... I can't let the police take me away, or I'll be done for.' she thought.

She looked at Seb and quickly walked towards him, but under his cold gaze, she stopped a few steps away.

"Mr. Smith, I know I messed up. Please, let me go this time. I'll give the project to the Silvercrest Group if you let me go."

Seb's face remained cold. "Give it to me? If you hadn't tried to destroy the Silvercrest Group's bid documents, who knows if the Bridges Group would have won the bid. Besides, is this project something you can just hand over?"

Ayla's face grew even paler, her body trembling, almost collapsing.

The disdainful and mocking looks from the people around her felt like waves crashing over her.

"Who would've thought the Bridges Group would stoop so low to get a project? Looks like they're really going downhill."

"Our company was negotiating a project with the Bridges Group, but now we wouldn't dare to work with them. Who knows when they might try to screw us over."

"I don't know what Garry is thinking, grooming a woman instead of his own grandson. What can a woman accomplish? Just scheming and plotting."

Sharon couldn't help but frown and shot a cold look at the last person who spoke.

The person felt uncomfortable under her gaze and frowned. "Ms. Roach, got something to say?"

"I just heard you say women only scheme and plot. Don't men do the same, stepping on others to climb up? Sometimes men are even worse."

Though she despised Ayla's actions, that didn't mean they could use this to bash all women.

The man's face turned sour, his eyes filled with displeasure, but with Seb nearby, he held back his anger.

"Ms. Roach, as a man, I won't argue with you, a woman, to avoid being accused of bullying you."

Sharon smiled. "Are you afraid of being accused of bullying me, or are you afraid of offending Seb?"

The man's face stiffened, turning extremely sour.

He didn't say anything more, but his gaze at Sharon was icy, clearly showing that her words had thoroughly pissed him off.

Leo, standing next to Ayla, looked at the man arguing with Sharon, raising an eyebrow.

If he remembered correctly, that man was the vice president of Aurora Builders Collective, known for holding grudges.

Once, one of his subordinates talked smack about him behind his back, and he retaliated by bullying the guy at work so bad that the poor dude ended up with depression and almost took his own life.

The whole thing got swept under the rug, but in their small circle, everyone knew the real story, just not out in the open.

A guy like that would definitely hold a grudge against Sharon and wait for the right moment to get back at her.

Thinking about this, a plan started to form in Leo's mind.

Ayla shot a cold look at Sharon. "Don't think I'll be grateful to you for speaking up for me!"

"You're overthinking it. I just couldn't stand him saying women only scheme and plot. It has nothing to do with you."

If it weren't for that guy belittling women because of Ayla's actions, she wouldn't have said a word.

Ayla bit her lip and looked at Seb behind Sharon. "Mr. Smith, I really know I was wrong. Please, let me go. I promise it won't happen again."

"It's not that you know you were wrong. You know that if you don't admit your mistake now, the Bridges Group's reputation will be ruined, and you won't be able to continue as the general manager of the Bridges Group."

Her thoughts being exposed, Ayla's face turned even paler, extremely embarrassed.

She had never been so humiliated.

But now, besides begging Seb, she didn't know what else she could do to make amends. "Mr. Smith..."

Seb cut her off. "Ms. Bridges, people must take responsibility for their actions. Now that the Silvercrest Group can no longer participate in this bid, the specific losses and the nature of this incident will be discussed by the Silvercrest Group's lawyers with you."

With that, he pulled Sharon away.

Ayla wanted to chase after them but was stopped by two bodyguards.

"Ms. Bridges, please behave."

"Get out of my way!"

"Ms. Bridges, if you keep pestering Mr. Smith, it'll only get worse for you."

Ayla struggled desperately to move forward, but with the two bodyguards blocking her, she could only watch as Seb and Sharon disappeared from her sight.

Soon, the bidding party announced the cancellation of the Bridges Group's winning bid and picked the most suitable company from the remaining bidders.

The people from the winning company were about to leave but were suddenly announced as the winners, making them so excited they could barely speak.

After mocking Ayla, everyone dispersed, leaving only Leo and Ayla in the venue.

Leo stepped forward, trying to help Ayla up, but she slapped him.

"Leo, you useless man! If I hadn't married you, I wouldn't be humiliated like this today!"

A slap mark appeared on Leo's face, but he seemed to feel no pain, looking calmly at Ayla.

"If you hadn't secretly tampered with the Silvercrest Group's bid documents, things wouldn't have come to this. This is all your doing. Blaming me won't help; it only proves your incompetence."

"What?" Ayla glared at him, as if seeing him for the first time. "How dare you talk to me like that?"

Leo's lips curled into a smile. "Why wouldn't I dare? After all, you're about to be abandoned by Garry."

A general manager who repeatedly messed up company projects wouldn't be allowed to stay in that position by the Bridges Group's shareholders, and Garry wouldn't give her a third chance.

Ayla's expression turned cold. "Don't forget, you have nothing. If I'm abandoned by Grandpa, you won't have a good ending either!"
