Chapter 540 She'll Have a Better Life Away from You
Sharon eyed him skeptically. "Mr. Bridges, we barely know each other. I don't think I can help you with anything."
"Sharon, you're the only one who can help me with this."
Damon looked at her and said slowly, "Before Ayla left the country, she sold 10% of her shares in the Bridges Group to Mr. Smith for a low price of fifty million dollars. I want to buy those shares back from Mr. Smith, and I'm willing to pay two hundred million dollars for them. Can you help me talk to Mr. Smith?"
He looked sincere, but Sharon couldn't help frowning.
"I don't understand business, and I don't have the ability to intervene. You should talk to Seb about this."
Damon sighed and said, "My grandfather met with Mr. Smith. He wants us to buy the shares at market price, but the Bridges Group almost went bankrupt before and has just recovered. We don't have that kind of money, so we hoped you could help us talk to him."
"If you're willing to help, I can transfer a vacation resort under my name to you as a thank you."
Sophie raised an eyebrow. She didn't know Damon well, but she had heard about his stinginess. If he was willing to offer a vacation resort, he must be really desperate.
Sharon shook her head. "Mr. Bridges, I really can't help you. We have other things to do, so we'll be leaving now."
With that, she pulled Sophie away.
Once they were seated in the restaurant, Sophie spoke up. "It seems like that 10% share is really important to the Bridges Group. Otherwise, Damon, who is usually so stingy, wouldn't offer a vacation resort as a thank you to get you to talk to Seb."
If Sharon asked Seb, he might actually agree to sell the shares to Damon.
Sharon opened the menu and said, "If he's willing to offer a vacation resort, it means that 10% share is worth much more than the two hundred million dollars plus the resort. Besides, I don't want to get involved in Seb's business."
"Not getting involved is the right choice. We don't understand business matters anyway. By the way, I actually have something else to tell you."
"What is it?"
"I was kidnapped by Jesse's people yesterday. He wanted to use me to threaten Daniel into revealing how much he had told Seb about Jesse. Seb arrived just in time to save both Daniel and me."
Sharon paused in her menu browsing and frowned at Sophie. "Why are you only telling me this now?"
"I didn't have a chance before. Jesse seems to be targeting you, so be careful."
"I know. He came to see me yesterday too. I'll be careful, and you should be too."
"It's really unfortunate. I broke up with Daniel five years ago, and now I almost got killed because of him."
Talking about yesterday's incident still scared Sophie.
She could tell that Jesse really wanted to kill her.
Suddenly, she frowned. "By the way, I remember Daniel saying that Jesse has always wanted to marry you. Do you know him from before?"
Sharon looked at Sophie in shock. "Are you sure you heard that right? I've only met him once. How could he want to marry me?"
"I'm sure I heard it right. If you don't believe me, I can call Daniel right now to confirm."
Seeing Sophie's serious expression, Sharon quickly said, "I believe you. It's just a bit unbelievable."
Jesse wanting to marry her sounded like a fairy tale.
She wasn't some stunning beauty, and she had a child... But thinking about Jesse investigating her and his connection with the Stoll family, Sharon's brow furrowed.
Something seemed to flash through her mind, but it was too quick to grasp and disappeared.
"Sharon, should I ask Daniel about it another day?"
Even though she didn't want any more contact with Daniel, this matter concerned Sharon, so she couldn't ignore it.
Sharon shook her head. "No need. Didn't you say Seb saved you yesterday? Maybe Seb knows the reason. I'll ask him."
"That works."
After that, Sharon lost her appetite. She ate a little and then parted ways with Sophie, driving straight to Silvercrest Group.
Paul was surprised to see her. "Ms. Roach, what brings you here? Mr. Smith is in a meeting right now. You can wait in his office."
Sharon nodded. "Okay."
She walked into Seb's office and had just sat down on the couch when Seb returned.
"Sharon, what brings you here?"
He sat across from her, looking puzzled.
Sharon pursed her lips. "I went shopping with Sophie today."
Seb raised an eyebrow and smiled. "What did you buy?"
"Some clothes and jewelry. While we were shopping, Sophie told me something."
"What was it?"
"She said she was kidnapped by Jesse's people yesterday. She also heard Daniel say that Jesse wants to marry me. Do you know anything about this?"
As soon as she finished speaking, she saw Seb's expression change slightly.
After a few seconds of silence, Seb spoke. "Sharon, I did find out some information. It's about your mother."
"What information?" Sharon's hand tightened on her bag, and her expression became serious.
"According to what I found, your mother is now with the Stoll family, and she might be a significant figure there. Jesse wanting to marry you is likely because of this."
Sharon lowered her gaze and thought for a moment before speaking. "I understand. He wants to marry me to get into the Stoll family."
But she felt that Jesse's plan would fail.
Carolyn hadn't come to see her in years. If she didn't care about her, why would she care about who her husband was?
"Sharon, don't worry. I'll protect you and Demetrius."
"I'm not worried. My mom doesn't care about me. Jesse's efforts are in vain."
"Don't worry about this. Spend some time with Sophie and don't think about anything else. I'll handle everything."
"Okay."
Seb checked the time. "I have a lot of work this afternoon. You should head back."
Sharon nodded and left.
Shortly after she left, Paul knocked and entered the office, speaking softly. "Mr. Smith, Alton went to see Ms. Roach this morning."
Seb's eyes narrowed. "Got it."
"Understood."
Seb picked up his phone and dialed Alton's number.
The call was quickly answered.
"Mr. Smith, do you need something?"
"Mr. Roach, it seems you didn't take my previous warning seriously. I heard you went to see Sharon this morning."
Alton had guessed that Seb had already discovered his identity, so he decided to be upfront. "Mr. Smith, I returned to take Sharon and Demetrius back to Stellaria. Sharon will have a better life away from you."
