Chapter 569 Using Me While Claiming It's for My Own Good

"Do you really think I'd spill the beans to him? Think about it, if he knew you were married before, who'd still want to marry you?"

Sharon didn't seem fazed by Carolyn's harsh words. Instead, she looked up at her with a smile.

"You were married to my dad before, and you still managed to marry your current husband and have two kids. Why don't you introduce me to some other men? I'm sure someone will be willing."

"You!" Carolyn was shaking with anger, pointing at Sharon, wanting to curse her but unable to find the words.

Sharon remained calm and poured Carolyn a glass of water. "Don't get so worked up. You're not young anymore. If you get so angry that you have a stroke, I doubt either of your kids will have the time to take care of you."

"Shut up!" Carolyn shouted.

Every word Sharon said made Carolyn's anger rise, her chest heaving with fury.

Sharon smirked and looked at Carolyn. "You'd better keep introducing me to potential matches. I don't mind a business marriage."

After all, she believed Carolyn would use her to the fullest and wouldn't just find some useless person for her to marry.

Carolyn's face turned ashen with rage. "If you don't want anything to happen to Seb and Demetrius, you'd better stop provoking me. Otherwise, I don't know what I might do to them!"

Sharon's eyes turned cold, but she wasn't intimidated at all.

"You'd better understand that the only reason I'm still willing to listen to you is because of Seb and Demetrius. If anything happens to them, I guarantee you'll lose me as your pawn immediately."

Carolyn stared at her, her eyes devoid of warmth. "Are you sure?"

"Ever since you went back on your word last time, I won't give you another chance to threaten me. Do whatever you want."

With that, Sharon didn't bother to see Carolyn's reaction and turned to leave.

Carolyn watched her back until she disappeared from sight, then picked up the cup on the table and smashed it to the ground.

Coffee splattered everywhere, and the imported fine coffee cup shattered into pieces.

Back in her bedroom, Sharon took a nap and didn't get up until the sun was setting.

At dinner, Carolyn treated Sharon like she was invisible.

Sharon didn't mind at all and enjoyed her meal. Carolyn never paid much attention to her anyway.

Daisy noticed Carolyn's displeasure and looked at Sharon coldly. "I heard you offended Richie today?"

Sharon continued eating as if she hadn't heard.

Daisy's face turned grim, and she raised her voice. " Sharon, I'm talking to you! Are you deaf?"

Sharon finally looked up at her, raising an eyebrow. "Oh, it was you talking? I thought it was a dog barking. I was wondering how a dog got into this well-guarded estate."

"You!" Daisy's eyes turned red with anger, and she looked to Carolyn for support. "Mom, look at how rude she is! She called me a dog!"

Daisy had been pampered all her life and had never been treated like this.

Carolyn's face twisted with anger. "Sharon, apologize to your sister!"

Sharon looked at her, smiling. "So, you do know she's younger than me, right? Have you ever seen a younger sister yelling at her older sister, calling her deaf? She really has no manners!"

Carolyn was momentarily speechless. "That's still no reason for you to insult her!"

Sharon put down her fork, looking puzzled. "So what you're saying is, she can insult me, but I can't insult her?"

Carolyn sensed Sharon was setting a trap for her, so she didn't respond.

Seeing her silence, Sharon continued, "Since you're saying anything, I'll take that as agreement."

"Who said I agreed?"

Carolyn's face turned even grimmer, and she gritted her teeth. "Let's just drop it this time. If it happens again, both of you will be punished!"

Daisy looked dissatisfied but had to lower her head under Carolyn's icy gaze, staring at her food.

Her eyes flashed with resentment. She would never let Sharon off!

Sharon smiled, stood up, and said, "I'm done. You all take your time. Don't let this little incident ruin your appetite!"

With that, she turned and left.

Daisy was seething with anger, her face full of rage.

Carolyn frowned, clearly displeased with Sharon's behavior, but ultimately said nothing and continued eating.

As for Gareth, he watched Sharon's retreating figure with interest.

It seemed his half-sister wasn't the submissive type at all.

After dinner, Carolyn called Daisy and Gareth to the study, telling them she planned to throw a party for Sharon on Saturday to formally introduce her as a member of their family.

Daisy immediately objected, her face full of displeasure. "Mom, I hate her! I don't want her as my sister!"

"Can't you send her back to the United States of Atlantis? She doesn't respect you at all and treats us poorly!"

Carolyn ignored her daughter and looked at Gareth. "Gareth, what do you think?"

Gareth's expression was indifferent. "Mom, whatever you decide, I'll support you. And since Sharon is already living here, it's only right to throw a party and introduce her to everyone."

Carolyn nodded. "Alright, we'll do it my way. Many important people will be there on Saturday. Be careful with what you say and do. Don't embarrass the Stoll family."

Gareth nodded. "I understand, Mom."

"I have work to do. You can go now."

After leaving the study, Daisy stopped Gareth, her face full of displeasure.

"Gareth, why did you agree with Mom? Do you really want another person competing with us for the Stoll family inheritance?"

Most importantly, she hated Sharon.

So she didn't want her to become part of the Stoll family at all!

Gareth smiled. "Why not? She's also Mom's daughter. You should treat her better and stop causing trouble."

Daisy snorted. "Why should I listen to you? I won't! I hate her. Even if you and Mom throw her a party, I won't acknowledge her!"

With that, Daisy turned and left in a huff.

Watching her leave, Gareth couldn't help but shake his head and smile, feeling a bit helpless.

Over the years, Carolyn had protected Daisy too well, so Daisy still thought that once Sharon became part of the Stoll family, she would compete with them for the inheritance.

How naive she was. But maybe it was for the best. Daisy had always been the type who couldn't keep a secret.

If she found out that Sharon was just a pawn Carolyn brought back, she might blurt it out in a moment of arrogance, ruining Carolyn's plans.

Thinking this, Gareth decided it was better for Daisy to remain naive.

Back in her room, the more Daisy thought about it, the angrier she got. She opened her chat app and started venting to her friends about the situation.

After listening, her friend suggested making Sharon look bad at the party on Saturday.

Daisy hesitated for a moment but didn't agree. After all, the party for Sharon was something both Carolyn and Gareth had agreed on. If she did something to Sharon that caused problems at the party, Carolyn would never forgive her.

However, she couldn't stand the thought of Sharon becoming a member of the Stoll family.

Thinking about it, she asked her friend if there was a way to embarrass Sharon without it being traced back to her.

Her friend came up with some ideas, like making Sharon have an allergic reaction or get sick, which would embarrass her at the party without leading back to Daisy.

After hearing this, Daisy had a plan. She sent an "OK" to her friend and logged out of the chat app.

In the following days, Carolyn didn't introduce Sharon to any more men. Instead, she hired an etiquette coach to teach Sharon proper manners.

Sharon didn't know what Carolyn was planning, but she didn't care and made a mess of the etiquette lessons.

Every day, the etiquette coach would go to Carolyn to complain.

At first, Carolyn would get angry and have the servants call Sharon to the study to scold her. But after two days, Sharon not only didn't listen but also talked back, almost making Carolyn sick with anger.

Carolyn eventually gave up and told the etiquette coach that as long as Sharon looked decent, it was fine.

The etiquette coach had no choice but to go along with it.

Friday came quickly. At dinner, Carolyn told Sharon about the party on Saturday to introduce her as her daughter and a new member of the Stoll family.

Sharon's reaction was indifferent. "Oh, got it."

Carolyn frowned, displeased with Sharon's attitude. "Is that all you have to say?"

Sharon looked at her with a mocking expression. "And what reaction should I have? Should I be grateful? I don't recall ever asking you to throw a party to introduce me as your daughter."

"Sharon, do you know how many people would love to be my daughter and a member of the Stoll family?"

The Stoll family had businesses worldwide and was one of the wealthiest families in Stellaria. They also had many politicians in the family, which kept them prosperous.

Being a member of the Stoll family came with many privileges.

But Sharon seemed to disdain it, making Carolyn want to crack open her head to see what was inside.

Sharon smiled. "If they were me, they wouldn't be proud to be your daughter either. You sure are confident."

"You're ungrateful!"

Sharon nodded. "You're right, I am ungrateful. So why don't you cancel the party tomorrow?"

Carolyn's face turned grim, but she didn't say anything.

She couldn't cancel the party because it was a crucial part of her plan.

Seeing the anger on Carolyn's face, Sharon found it amusing.

Look at that, wanting to use her while expecting her to be grateful. How greedy she was.

Daisy, watching Sharon mock Carolyn, was filled with dissatisfaction and disgust. She couldn't understand why Carolyn still wanted to publicly acknowledge Sharon as her daughter after being treated like this.

As the dining room fell silent, Gareth finally spoke. "Sharon, even though we have different fathers, since you're living in the estate, we're family. Mom is throwing this party to let everyone know you're a member of the Stoll family, part of our family."

Sharon turned to Gareth, smiling. "If this party is for me, why am I the last to know?"

Gareth's eyes darkened, and he didn't respond.

Carolyn sneered. "Does it matter when you found out?"

"It doesn't matter, but I don't want you to use me while pretending it's for my benefit. It makes you look hypocritical."

"Sharon! Who are you calling hypocritical?"

If Sharon weren't really her daughter, Carolyn would have made her disappear immediately.

Sharon's current personality was nothing like when she was a child.

She couldn't understand how such a cute child had grown up to be like this.

Sharon showed no fear. "I'm talking about you. Is it fun to play dumb?"

Carolyn's face turned ashen with rage, and she slammed her fork on the table. "Get out!"

Sharon stood up. "Fine, have someone open the estate gate for me. I'd love to leave, but I'm afraid some people won't let me."

Carolyn sneered. "Fine! I'll have the servants open the gate. Let's see where you can go with no money and no phone!"

"That's not your concern, Ms. Roach."

With that, Sharon turned and walked toward the estate gate.

Gareth's expression changed, and he quickly whispered to Carolyn, "Mom, the invitations have already been sent out. If she's not there tomorrow, the party can't go on as planned."

Moreover, many people already knew Sharon was Carolyn's daughter. It wouldn't be easy to find someone to replace her.

Carolyn glared coldly at Gareth. "Let her leave! Let's see if she comes back begging!"

The weather outside was freezing, and Sharon had no money. It was dangerous out there. Once she faced danger, she'd come back begging.

Seeing Carolyn was too angry to listen, Gareth didn't say anything more.

After all, to him, Sharon was just a pawn to shield him from many attacks. He didn't care about her well-being.

But he couldn't let her die.

He looked at the butler. "Have some people follow her. Don't let anything happen to her."

The butler was about to agree when Carolyn coldly interrupted. "No one is to follow her! Let her come back on her own!"

There were many people watching outside the estate. As soon as Sharon left, she'd be targeted. It was only natural for her to suffer a bit.

Once she'd had enough, Carolyn would bring her back, and she'd be obedient, never daring to talk back again.
