Chapter 394 Congratulations on Your Engagement
The next morning, Sharon woke up like she always did, only this time her gaze fell upon something new on her nightstand. Turning her head, she saw it was an Express Centurion Card, probably left there by Seb last night.
She got up, freshened up, and resolved to return it to Seb, but by the time she made her way downstairs, he had already left for work.
After breakfast, Sharon called Sophie to go shopping. Sophie mentioned she had something to tell her, so they agreed to meet at the mall.
Sharon got there first, and after a bit, Sophie showed up.
"Sophie, you said you had something to tell me?"
Sophie nodded, linking arms with her as they walked into a store. "Yeah, Dwayne and I are getting engaged at the end of the month. You have to come to our engagement party."
Sharon was surprised and frowned. "Why so sudden? Is it because of the Lee Group?"
"Partly, but mostly because I'm at the right age, and Dwayne is a good match. So, I decided to get engaged to him."
Seeing Sophie's calm demeanor, like she was talking about something that didn't really matter to her, Sharon felt a bit worried.
"Marriage is a big deal. You can't just marry someone because of age or because they seem like a good match. You have to be sure."
Regular folks faced a lot of pressure when they wanted a divorce, let alone families like the Lees and the Carrs.
Seeing Sophie stay quiet, she continued, "You haven't known Dwayne for long and don't know him well enough. He might be interested in you because of the Lee Group. Sophie, don't rush into this."
Sophie gave a wry smile. "I get that, but even if I don't marry Dwayne, there will be other men. I can't decide my marriage on my own."
"But you can't just settle for this. Once you're in a marriage, it's not easy to get out," Sharon argued.
"Sharon, I know you mean well, but I've already decided. Please don't try to persuade me anymore."
Seeing that Sophie wouldn't budge, Sharon frowned but didn't say more.
After all, this was Sophie's personal matter. Sharon could give advice but couldn't make decisions for her.
Sharon just felt that marrying Dwayne wouldn't change the current situation of the Lee Group and might even give Dwayne a chance to take over the Lee Group.
Seeing the worry in Sharon's eyes, Sophie patted her hand with a smile. "Alright, let's not talk about me anymore. Our goal today is to buy clothes and get styled up for the party."
Suppressing her worries, Sharon nodded. "Okay."
"By the way, there's something you might not know. Tonight's party is for Leo's wife's grandfather, so you might run into Leo."
Sharon paused, memories of Leo's crazy actions from five years ago flooding her mind.
Even now, thinking about it made Sharon a bit scared.
"Okay, I got it."
Seeing Sharon's pale face, Sophie quickly added, "You don't need to worry too much. Leo has been married for years and has a son now. He probably won't bother you anymore."
"I think so too."
Sharon and Sophie walked into Chic Trends Boutique, and the sales associate greeted them with a smile. "Ms. Lee, Ms. Roach, you're here at the perfect time. We just got some new arrivals, and they're all limited editions. Let me show you."
"Sure."
Sharon's eyes immediately locked onto a mermaid dress in the center of the store.
The dress was covered in metallic sequins, transitioning from white to light blue to deep blue, like the ocean's changing colors. It was dreamy and mysterious, captivating anyone who looked at it.
Noticing Sharon's gaze, the sales associate quickly said, "Ms. Roach, you have a great eye. This dress is Ms. Bynum's latest creation, called 'Deep Sea'. There are only five of these worldwide. Many people love it, but the waist is too small for most. Would you like to try it on?"
"Sure."
The sales associate quickly took the dress down and led Sharon to the fitting room.
Sophie, having seen many dresses, didn't find anything she liked and sat down to wait for Sharon.
Suddenly, a sweet voice came from nearby. "Sophie, I didn't expect to see you here. Are you here to buy clothes too?"
Sophie turned her head and saw Clarissa Daniels, her eyes darkening.
Randy had pursued Sophie for a long time, and Clarissa had pursued Randy for just as long.
Sophie and Clarissa used to get along well, but after Clarissa found out Randy liked Sophie, their relationship soured.
Later, during the collaboration between the Lee Group and the Elliott Group, Clarissa repeatedly made things difficult for Sophie. They were now as incompatible as fire and water.
Sophie picked up a magazine and started flipping through it, clearly not wanting to engage with Clarissa.
However, Clarissa, seemingly oblivious to Sophie's move, sat down directly across from her.
"By the way, I heard you're getting engaged to Dwayne. Congratulations!" Clarissa continued.
Clarissa's tone was full of schadenfreude. After all, since Sophie got engaged to Dwayne, it gave Clarissa a chance with Randy.
Sophie lifted her eyelids and said indifferently, "Can't you tell I don't want to talk to you? You always like to make a fool of yourself."
Clarissa's face stiffened, then she sneered. "Sophie, the Lee Group is going bankrupt. What makes you so confident to talk to me like that?"
"Aren't you the one who came to talk to me? If you don't like what I say, don't come to me," Sophie shot back.
Clarissa's face turned livid, and she pointed a finger at Sophie.
But she quickly adjusted her expression, her face full of mockery. "I want to see how long you can keep being arrogant!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the fitting room curtain opened.
Sophie and Clarissa turned their heads and were stunned by the sight of the figure in blue.
Sharon, in a strapless mermaid dress, with her long wavy hair cascading like a waterfall over her shoulders, looked stunningly beautiful.
As Sharon moved, the sequins on the dress shimmered, making her look like a mermaid basking in the sunlight, languid yet undeniably sensual.
Sophie was the first to react and couldn't help but whistle.
Sharon wearing this dress to the party would definitely make her the center of attention.
"Sharon, this dress was made for you!"
