Chapter 123 Ava's Premarital Pregnancy
Alex sneered, "If you get in Uncle Seb's car today, I'll call Grandma and Grandpa and tell them he has a crush on you!"
Sharon frowned, not expecting Alex to stoop so low.
Seb's demeanor turned icy. He stared at Alex, exuding pressure.
"Think you can handle the fallout? Go ahead, call them."
"Uncle Seb, all you do is threaten me with the Smith group. But guess what? I don't care about it anymore."
Seb found Alex's fake calmness laughable.
"It's not that you don't care; it's that your cheating photos went viral. Grandpa's disappointed and is demoting you to a subsidiary. Soon, you won't be the general manager."
Alex's face reddened as Seb exposed him.
"It's just a temporary demotion. Doesn't mean I won't be back."
"Sure, but if you keep bothering Sharon, that shot might go to Randy instead."
Alex clenched his fists, struggling internally. He knew he couldn't take on Seb now without losing.
But he was done waiting.
Alex met Seb's gaze, saying, "Do what you want. I'm taking Sharon now."
The restaurant fell silent.
Sharon took a deep breath. "Alex, we're getting divorced. Stop pestering me."
Alex had already been seen with Ava, showing she mattered to him. Sharon didn't want to argue anymore.
"I said, I won't divorce you."
Sharon frowned, not wanting to continue. She looked at Seb. "Uncle Seb, I'll take a cab home."
She turned and walked to the roadside.
Alex tried to stop her, but Seb blocked him.
"Controlling her will only make her hate you more."
Alex glared at Seb. "Uncle Seb, with so many women out there, why her?"
Seb's face remained emotionless.
"You cheated first. If you don't reflect on that, you have no right to question me."
"Even if Sharon and I divorce, you two will never be together. Grandma and Grandpa won't allow it."
Alex thought Seb's interest in Sharon was just a phase; he wouldn't marry her.
"That's none of your business."
Seeing Sharon get into a cab and leave, Seb couldn't be bothered to argue further and left.
Back home, Sharon rested on the couch. Just as she was about to wash up, her phone rang.
Seeing it was Karen, she hesitated, then answered.
"Aunt Karen, what's up?"
Karen's voice was filled with guilt. "Sharon, I'm sorry for what I said at the hospital. I hope you can forgive me."
Karen was an elder, and since she apologized, Sharon couldn't hold a grudge, even if she still felt uneasy.
"Aunt Karen, I'm not mad. You were just worried about my dad. I get it."
Karen seemed relieved and her voice softened. "Sharon, I know Alex's cheating hurt you, but can you wait on the divorce until he finds a kidney donor for Robert?"
Sharon felt a chill. This was Karen's real reason for calling. Alex had used the kidney donor excuse before, only to give it to Ava's father instead.
"Aunt Karen, I can't agree. People need boundaries. If I give in now, Alex will keep manipulating me."
Sharon had compromised too many times and only got hurt. She wouldn't trust Alex or compromise anymore.
Karen was silent for a while before hanging up. Sharon didn't call back and went to shower.
The next few days were peaceful. Alex didn't bother her, and life felt normal again.
Just when she thought she could discuss a secret divorce with Tyler, news of Ava's pregnancy broke. Old photos of Alex and Ava kissing resurfaced and went viral.
Sharon didn't know about Ava's pregnancy. When she walked into work and noticed people giving her sympathetic looks, she was puzzled.
'Did my makeup smudge?' Sharon questioned herself.
People now thought Alex would soon abandon her. Her secret marriage to Alex had just been revealed, and now Ava's pregnancy was exposed. The photos of Ava and Alex kissing made it hard not to suspect the baby was Alex's.
In the lab, Ashley kept sneaking glances at her, looking like she wanted to say something but hesitated.
Sharon frowned. "Ashley, what's going on? Why is everyone looking at me like that?"
"You don't know?"
Ashley looked at her with even more sympathy.
"What happened? Stop beating around the bush."
"Just see for yourself."
A phone screen was handed to her. Sharon's face darkened as she looked at it. She called Alex, but he didn't answer. Her face grew grimmer with each unanswered call.
Meanwhile, Alex was instructing Joseph to find out who leaked Ava's pregnancy.
"Mr. Smith, we traced it to a foreign website but can't pinpoint the exact IP."
Alex's expression was icy. "So you can't find out who did it?"
"No, we can't."
"Useless!"
Alex angrily threw the documents. "Only a few people know about Ava's pregnancy. Check each one. I don't believe we can't find out!"
He suspected Seb was behind it.
Joseph lowered his head. "I'll check right away."
"Focus on Uncle Seb!"
"Understood."
As soon as Joseph left, Alex's phone rang. He thought it was Sharon again and was about to hang up, but when he saw it was Tyler, his face turned extremely grim.
