Chapter 489 Insisting on the Divorce Because of You
"Ayla, Jerold's my son too!" Ayla's pale face flushed with emotion.
"But I have custody now. You don't need to waste your energy; Jerold isn't going back to you."
With that, Leo stopped looking at her and instructed someone to bring Jerold from the study.
"Leo, you can't just take Jerold away like this!"
Leo glanced at the bodyguard beside him and said coldly, "Take her upstairs."
"Even if you take Jerold today, I will find a way to get him back!"
Leo gave her a cold look. "You can try, but do you really think you have what it takes to fight me?"
The bodyguard quickly escorted Ayla back to her room.
When Carol brought Jerold out, only Leo was left in the living room.
Seeing Leo, Jerold shrank behind Carol, unwilling to come out.
Carol gently patted Jerold's head, her eyes full of affection. "Jerold, go with your dad."
Compared to the emotionally unstable Ayla, Carol believed Jerold would be better off with Leo.
Jerold refused to move; he didn't want to leave Ayla.
Leo stepped forward and picked him up, looking at Carol. "Ayla is upstairs. I'm taking Jerold."
"Mr. Wendy," Carol called out, "You must treat Jerold well. He is your son."
Leo's eyes darkened. "I know what to do."
He left with Jerold, and their figures quickly disappeared through the door.
Carol sighed and turned to go upstairs.
As she reached the master bedroom door, she heard the sound of things being smashed inside.
Carol knocked and entered, finding the room in complete disarray. Makeup that had been neatly arranged on the vanity was scattered across the floor, the bench at the foot of the bed was overturned, and clothes were strewn everywhere.
Ayla sat in the middle of the room, her hair disheveled, her face dark with anger, and her eyes burning with fury.
"Ms. Bridges, Jerold..."
"Get out!" Ayla screamed at her, her face twisted with hatred and disgust. "Carol, I've been paying your salary all these years! And today, not only did you not help me, but you also let Leo take Jerold away. You're nothing but a traitor!"
Carol's face stiffened at Ayla's words. After a long pause, she finally spoke. "Ms. Bridges, I'm doing this for you and Jerold. You'll eventually be with someone else, and having Jerold with you could cause conflicts. Besides, if Jerold stays with Mr. Wendy, he'll be the heir to his company."
Ayla fell silent, clearly taking in Carol's words.
"Leave me alone. I need some time to think."
"Of course, Ms. Bridges. If you need anything, just call me." Carol turned and left, gently closing the door behind her.
Meanwhile, Leo brought Jerold back to the villa. Jerold ran upstairs with his backpack and slammed his bedroom door shut.
Understanding that this was Jerold's way of expressing his displeasure, Leo shook his head and told the maid, "Bring some food up to him later."
Then he went to his study.
News of Ayla and Leo's divorce spread quickly.
Sharon was surprised when she heard it from Sophie.
"I thought they were doing well. Why did they suddenly get divorced?" Sharon asked.
Sophie paused for a moment and then whispered, "I heard Leo insisted on the divorce because of you. But who knows if it's true."
