Chapter 312 How Could I Help an Outsider
Seb's eyes went cold. "Why are you asking?"
"Because Ms. Walker is your fiancée, and the Walker Group has a lot of projects with Silvercrest Group. Making her affair with a male model public won't do you any good, personally or professionally."
After a pause, Seb replied, "You're overthinking it."
Rufus looked down, staying quiet, though he didn't buy it.
He figured if Seb wasn't doing this for Sharon, there was no reason to expose Rebecca's affair.
"Anything else?" Seb's icy voice cut through the silence. Rufus quickly answered, "No."
Seb added, "Mr. Walker might drop by this afternoon. Just send him to my office."
"Got it, Mr. Smith."
After lunch, Lowell showed up.
He stormed into Seb's office. "Seb, isn't this too much for Rebecca?"
Seb put down his papers and looked up.
Lowell walked in with a grim face and slammed the door shut.
Thinking about the rough morning with the shareholders, Lowell felt his anger boiling over.
Seb stayed calm. "Mr. Walker, have a seat."
Lowell sneered, "Seb, if you don't explain yourself today, we're done. My company won't do business with you anymore!"
Lowell thought this would scare Seb, but Seb just nodded. "Alright, Mr. Walker, if you want to end the contracts, we'll do it."
Lowell's angry face froze, disbelief in his eyes. "What did you say?"
He had only said that to get more benefits from Silvercrest Group, not expecting Seb to agree so easily.
Having been in business for decades, Lowell quickly realized Seb had been waiting for this!
"So this is what you wanted!" Lowell snapped, eyes narrowing. "Seb, don't think you can scare me. You set up Rebecca, and now you want to use this to end the contract with BrightWave Technologies. It's not going to be that easy!"
Seb's lips curled into a smile, but his eyes were icy. "So you know it's not that easy, huh? Then why are you working with Silvercrest Group while secretly meeting with Alex? Do you really think he can pull it off?"
Lowell was stunned, shock flashing in his eyes. How did Seb know about his meetings with Alex?
Alex had approached Lowell the day after returning to the country.
Knowing Tyler planned to give all his shares to Alex, Lowell had thought about getting closer to Alex.
After all, even though Seb was his daughter's fiancé, BrightWave Technologies hadn't gained much from working with Silvercrest Group, which annoyed Lowell.
If Alex could really take back the Smith Group from Seb, it would be good for BrightWave Technologies.
At the very least, Lowell could get more benefits from their cooperation.
"Alex did approach me a few times after coming back," Lowell said, trying to sound sincere. "But I only had meals with him out of respect for you. We didn't discuss anything else. You're Rebecca's fiancé, my future son-in-law. How could I help an outsider over you, right?"
Seb smirked. "Is that so?"
Lowell quickly nodded. "Yes, Seb, you've got me wrong. If you don't believe me, you can call Alex over, and we can confront him."
"No need. I have a recording here that you might find interesting."
With that, Seb opened his phone and played a recording. The more Lowell listened, the worse his face got.
Before the recording even finished, Lowell's face was grim.
Seb turned off the recording and smiled. "Got anything else to say, Mr. Walker? Gonna claim this recording is fake?"
Lowell glared at him. "Seb, first you had people take photos of my daughter and post them online, and now you bring out this recording to force me to terminate the contract with Silvercrest Group. I've seen through your and Alex's tactics! I agree to terminate the contract, but you better remember, being so ruthless will only make enemies!"
Seb smiled slightly. "No need for you to worry about that."
Lowell stormed out in anger, just as he had stormed in.
As soon as he left the Silvercrest Group building, Lowell dialed Alex's number.
"Alex, I won't let you get away with scheming against me!" With that, Lowell hung up the phone.
Alex looked puzzled and tried calling back, but the line was busy.
Tyler, standing nearby, frowned. "What's going on?"
Alex put away his phone and shook his head. "I don't know. Mr. Walker said I schemed against him, but I have no idea what he means."
Tyler thought for a moment, considering the events of the morning involving Rebecca, and quickly understood what was happening.
Tyler analyzed, "It seems Seb has found out about your private meetings with Lowell."
Alex said, "Then I'll go find out what's going on."
Shortly after, Alex returned with the information and shared it with Tyler.
Tyler sighed and said in a low voice, "Seb terminating the contract with BrightWave Technologies is a warning for you not to act rashly."
Alex asked, "Grandpa, what should we do now?"
Alex wanted to take over the Smith Group; only then would he have the qualifications to compete with Seb.
After a moment of silence, Tyler seemed to make a decision and said firmly, "Tell Seb I'll spill everything and help him regain his memory. Ask him to come back."
Alex was taken aback. "But the doctor who hypnotized him is already dead."
"Don't worry about that. I have my own ways."
Alex didn't ask further and dialed Seb's number.
An hour later, Seb stepped into the Smith Mansion.
Seeing Alex and David there, he raised an eyebrow and sat down across from Tyler. "Go ahead, tell me the truth."
Looking at Seb's indifferent expression, Tyler slowly began to speak, recounting everything about Seb and Sharon. Finally, he said coldly, "Paul knows all of this. If you don't believe me, you can ask Paul."
Hearing that, Seb's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Paul has long been bought by you, hasn't he? How do I know if his words are trustworthy? I'm not interested in what you said. I just want to know how I can regain my memory."
Tyler stated, "The doctor who hypnotized you died in an accident, but I found his student. I've already sent people to find him. Once we get him, you can regain your memory."
Seb listened expressionlessly and raised an eyebrow. "What's the condition for telling me all this?"
Tyler had refused to tell him the truth before, but now he was revealing everything and even helping him find a doctor. There had to be a reason.
"The condition is that you hand over the Smith Group to Alex," Tyler replied, his tone firm. "After that, Silvercrest Group and the Smith Group will have no further relations."
Tyler wanted a controllable heir. Since Seb wasn't a timid heir, there was no need to hand over the Smith Group to him.
Seb nodded. "Alright, I can hand over the Smith Group to Alex, but only after I meet the doctor who can help me regain my memory."
Tyler's eyes darkened. "Deal."
After discussing the main issue, Seb left immediately.
Tyler had said a lot today, and Seb realized he had wronged Sharon. He needed to sort through his thoughts and might also need to change his attitude towards Sharon.
Once Seb was out of earshot, David, who had been silent, couldn't help but speak. "Dad, the previous doctor said it was a miracle Seb could still be normal after the hypnosis. Even he himself wasn't confident about helping Seb regain his memory, let alone his student. What if something goes wrong..."
Over the years, David had grown older and wasn't as ruthless as he was five years ago. After all, Seb was his brother, and he didn't want Seb to end up mentally impaired.
"It's his own choice. If he's no good to the Smith family, there's no point in keeping him around!"
