Chapter 487 Get the Divorce Today
As soon as the words left her mouth, Garry's cold gaze locked onto her.
Ayla's heart skipped a beat, and her face fell. "Grandpa, you can't seriously be asking me to divorce him, can you?"
"That gaming company pulls in hundreds of millions a year." Garry didn't need to spell it out; the message was clear.
"So... you're making me get a divorce just for a company?"
"Ayla, if we get that gaming company back, the Bridges Group won't be facing financial ruin. Besides, you and Leo don't even care about each other anymore. Why drag this out?"
Ayla let out a bitter laugh. "Grandpa, you've said it all. What more can I add? But don't forget, Leo has Vertex Innovations Group behind him. If I divorce him, we'll lose half of Vertex Innovations Group."
Seeing Ayla's naive expression, Garry shook his head. "Ayla, Vertex Innovations Group was set up before you married him. Even after marriage, he has countless ways to move the money. You won't see a dime."
Leo had been biding his time in the Bridges family for years. There was no way he hadn't moved his assets.
He was wealthy, but Ayla wouldn't see a cent of it.
"We're married. If I find evidence of him transferring assets, I can claim that money. Do you think a small gaming company can compare to five years of Vertex Innovations Group's profits?"
"He won't give you the chance to find evidence. I just want the gaming company back. If you agree, I'll transfer 10% of the Bridges Group's shares to you."
10% of the Bridges Group's shares.
It used to be a tempting offer for Ayla, but now... she wasn't interested.
"Grandpa, 10% of the Bridges Group's shares and half of Leo's assets, I'll take the latter."
Garry looked at her meaningfully and said slowly, "What you have in hand is what counts. Think it over and give me your answer in a few days."
"No need to wait. I can answer you now. I won't agree to divorce Leo."
Seeing her stubbornness, Garry's face turned cold. "You have to agree. Either take the 10% shares and divorce Leo, or get nothing and still have to divorce him. Your choice!"
Ayla gripped the wheelchair's armrests tightly, glaring at Garry with anger. "Grandpa, you're forcing me! You never intended to give me a choice!"
"Choices are for those with leverage. You have nothing. Do you think you have any room to negotiate?"
Garry's words were like a bucket of ice water poured over her, instantly quelling her defiance.
Indeed, she had no leverage and no room to negotiate.
Whether it was Leo or Garry, they had countless ways to make her agree to the divorce.
If Garry had been on her side, she might have had a chance to negotiate with Leo. But now that they were on the same side, she had no chance to resist.
"Grandpa, you'll regret forcing me to divorce Leo one day."
Garry's face remained indifferent. "That's a matter for the future. Right now, I only care about saving the Bridges Group. If it weren't for your foolishness, the Bridges Group wouldn't be on the brink of collapse, and you wouldn't be in this situation."
Ayla took a deep breath and extended her hand. "I want the shares first."
Since it was promised to her, Garry didn't waste any time. He immediately called in a lawyer to draft the share transfer agreement and signed it.
After receiving the shares, Ayla said coldly, "Have Leo send the divorce papers to the villa. After the one-month cooling-off period, we'll finalize the divorce."
Garry nodded, a hint of a smile finally appearing on his face. "No need to wait a month. You can finalize the divorce today."
Time was of the essence. Neither he nor Leo could wait a month.
Ayla's eyes flashed with sarcasm. She knew Garry had a backup plan.
"Fine, have Leo come over."
Leo arrived quickly. After returning the gaming company to Garry, he and Ayla went to the Vital Records Office to finalize the divorce.
The moment she received the divorce certificate, Ayla couldn't help but smile bitterly. Her life felt like a joke.
Outside the Vital Records Office, Leo handed Ayla a document.
"Ayla, this is my compensation for five years of marriage. From now on, we'll go our separate ways."
Ayla opened the document and saw that he had given her a ten-million-dollar settlement. She let out a cold laugh. "How generous of you."
"I'll go back with you to pick up Jerold."
Ayla was silent for a few seconds, then looked at him coldly. "Are you planning to never let me see Jerold again?"
"Unless necessary, it's best if you don't see each other."
Seeing his indifferent eyes, Ayla didn't say another word.
The ride back was silent.
When they arrived at the villa, Jerold's eyes lit up with joy when he saw them together. He quickly ran over.
"Dad, you're back?"
Leo looked down at Jerold, his eyes full of warmth. "Yes, Jerold. Go upstairs and pack your things. You're coming to our new home with me."
"Is Mom coming too?" Jerold looked at Leo cautiously, his eyes full of hope.
Leo patted his head and decided to be honest. "Mom's not coming. It's just you and me from now on. Is that okay?"
"No!" Jerold pushed Leo's hand away and screamed, "I want to stay with Mom! I don't want to be with you. You'll let that bad woman hurt me!"
Leo frowned and glanced at Ayla. "Did you tell him that?"
"I only told him you didn't want us anymore, and I wasn't wrong!"
"Explain it to him."
"Do I need to? You divorced me to be with Sharon, didn't you? You never planned to keep me and Jerold. What did I say wrong? Did I falsely accuse you?"
Leo looked down at her, his cold aura almost suffocating.
"Ayla, are you looking for trouble?"
Ayla shrugged indifferently. "Go ahead and kill me if you can. We're divorced now. I'm of no use to you anymore, right?"
Leo's face twisted with anger, his eyes burning with rage.
If Jerold weren't there, he might have strangled Ayla, this venomous woman.
Ayla raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on her lips. "Are you angry? Do you know how I felt when you abandoned me and Jerold, forcing me to divorce? I felt like this every single moment."
