Chapter 79 You Really Are A Jinx!

“If I don't love you anymore, would you let me go?” Sharon asked.

Alex's gaze turned cold. “No.”

She said, “Then what's the point of asking that? Besides, weren't you the one who threatened me with my dad to make me return?”

Facing her calm gaze, Alex gave a self-mocking smile, turning his head and saying nothing more.

Indeed, he had forced her to come back.

Moreover, he should've known this day would come from the day he cheated. He was just too confident, thinking she loved him enough to forgive him.

The two fell into silence, and soon the driver brought the car around.

Alex said, “Get in.”

Sharon glanced at her phone. She couldn't get a ride, so she canceled her order.

On the way back, both of them remained silent. The driver didn't dare to speak, just quietly driving the car.

Back at the villa, Sharon was about to go upstairs when Alex suddenly said, “Sharon, I'm sorry about tonight. I failed to protect you.”

His tone was serious. She paused for a moment, but ultimately said nothing before quickly leaving.

When she returned to her bedroom, she received a call from Sophie.

“Sharon, did Emily set you up tonight?”

She was a bit surprised. “How did you know?”

“That jerk Daniel called me out of the blue, asking if I had instructed you target Emily. I asked some friends who attended the gala.”

Talking about it made Sophie angry.

Just a couple of scumbags; they weren't worth her time!

Seeing Daniel and Emily together made her eyes rot!

Sharon pursed her lips. “I just wanted to teach her a lesson so she wouldn't mess with me again.”

“Then you need to be more careful. Emily holds grudges. She lost face this time and won't let it go easily.”

“Okay, I'll be careful.”

There was some silence on the other line, then Sophie said apologetically, “Sharon, I'm sorry. She probably targeted you because of me.”

“It's not your fault. You can't control what others think.”

At the root of it, Emily was just malicious.

“By the way, how did you turn the tables on her tonight? What about that necklace of hers?”

Sharon's expression was indifferent. “I left it somewhere. Whoever finds it will probably return it to her.”

However, Emily probably wouldn't be happy to see that necklace again.

The two chatted for a while longer. Knowing Sharon had to work the next day, Sophie ended the call.

After taking a shower, Sharon dried her hair, did her skincare, and went to bed.

On the other hand, Emily couldn't sleep.

Ten minutes ago, a servant brought her a box, saying it was from the charity event staff.

She opened the box to find her diamond necklace inside. Her previously calmness turned to rage. She threw the necklace to the ground, scattering the diamonds everywhere.

She shouted, “Get out!”

The servant was startled and quickly left.

Looking at the shattered necklace on the floor, Emily's eyes were filled with hatred. She'd remember tonight's humiliation and repay Sharon with interest someday!

The next evening, just before getting off work, Sharon received a call from the Smith mansion, asking her to come over.

Her heart sank, guessing it was probably about the charity event last night.

If she went alone, she'd undoubtedly suffer. But if she told Alex, he'd probably blame everything on Seb.

Seb had already helped her enough last night. If he got dragged into this again today, she would feel guiltier.

Thinking of this, she messaged Alex, telling him she was going out to dinner with colleagues and that he didn't need to pick her up.

After work, she took a cab to the Smith mansion.

As soon as she was led into the living room by a servant, Sandra coldly ordered, “Kneel down!”

Sharon stopped in her tracks and looked at Sandra calmly. “ I don't know what I did wrong for me to kneel.”

Clara sneered from beside Sandra, her tone sharp and bitter. “You still have the nerve to ask? Why did you force Ms. Young to kneel in front of everyone last night? Do you even realize who you are and who she is?”

“This morning, BioTech Innovations Group and Young Group both terminated their partnerships with Smith Group, making us lose billions of dollars. The other shareholders are furious with Alex and are calling a board meeting to remove him from his position. You're such a jinx!”

If it weren't for the fear of affecting Alex, Clara would've already told Sandra that Sharon was infertile, and Sandra would've kicked Sharon out of the Smith family!

Facing Clara's hateful gaze, Sharon remained indifferent. “Emily publicly frame me with a necklace first, and Young Group terminated their partnership afterward. Clearly, they don't respect neither the Smith family nor Smith Group. Besides, last night, Emily said that if the necklace wasn't in my possession, she'd kneel and apologize on the spot. I don't think I did anything wrong.”

Sandra's expression was icy. “Since you don't know what you did wrong, go kneel in the chapel until you figure it out.”

When she said that, two servants stepped forward.

It was clear that if Sharon resisted, they'd forcefully take her to the chapel.

The chapel was built halfway up the hill, about a thousand feet from the mansion. Except during fixed prayer times, no one ever went there. It was cold and eerie.

Although she was scared, she didn't show it. She turned and walked out of the mansion.

Seeing her straight back and lack of remorse, Clara was furious. “Sandra, don't let anyone bring her food. Lock her up for three days and nights. I don't believe she won't admit her mistake!”

She had planned to teach Sharon a lesson and then have her personally apologize to Emily. She hadn't expected her to be so stubborn, refusing even to admit her mistake, let alone apologize.

Sandra said, “Enough, I know what to do. You can go now. Don't bother me unless it's important.”

Clara was so narrow-minded that Sandra didn't want to deal with her, if not for the fact that she was Alex's biological mother.

Sensing Sandra's displeasure, Clara didn't dare say anything more and left quietly.

After locking Sharon in the chapel, the two servants left.

As their footsteps faded, the place returned to silence.

Sharon had only ever come here during the day, and she never felt anything since there were always people around. But now, the chapel's light dimmed as the sky grew darker, and the silence became eerie. Looking at the photos around her, Sharon felt a chill.

The chapel was colder than outside, and she hadn't dressed warmly today. She was already feeling the cold.

She sat on the ground, leaning against the wall while trying to suppress her fear.

Sandra had only called her over, which meant she didn't want to alert Alex or Seb.

If she could endure tonight, Sandra would probably let her out.

Sharon tried to comfort herself. It was just one night; it would pass quickly.

Suddenly, her phone rang, startling her in the quiet chapel.

Seeing it was Alex, she took a deep breath and answered. “Where are you now? I'll come pick you up after the party.”
