Chapter 466 Leo, Are You Out of Your Mind?
"Don't worry about me, worry about yourself first."
He was planning to keep up the act with her for a bit longer, but since Ayla was treating him like this, he figured now was as good a time as any to end things.
He turned and walked away without a second thought.
"Leo, stop right there! If you walk out that door, we're getting a divorce!"
Leo paused and turned to face her.
Ayla lifted her chin, thinking she had him cornered, "If you apologize now, I'll forgive you."
"Fine, let's get a divorce."
Ayla's eyes widened in disbelief, and she clenched her teeth, "What did you just say? Say it again!"
Leo's face was calm, "I said, let's get a divorce."
He'd been waiting for this moment for a long time.
If Sharon hadn't come back, he might have stayed with Ayla for Jerold's sake.
But now... he wasn't going to waste any more time.
"Leo, are you out of your mind? Without the Bridges family, you're nothing. What company would hire you?"
"And if you divorce me, you won't get Jerold! You'll never see me or Jerold again!"
Compared to her frantic state, Leo was the picture of calm.
"Fine, Jerold will stay with you. I'll make sure you have enough money to raise him and live comfortably."
Seeing his emotionless face, Ayla finally realized he was serious, not just angry like she was.
She quickly walked up to him, gritting her teeth, "You want to divorce me because of Sharon, don't you?"
Before Sharon came back, things were fine between them, but ever since Garry's birthday party, she had noticed a change in Leo.
He stopped being intimate with her and didn't hold her while they slept.
She had been too busy with work to pay attention to these changes.
Looking back, he must have been planning to leave her and Jerold since Garry's birthday party.
"Yes." Leo admitted without hesitation, looking down at Ayla, "Ayla, I never loved you. I married you because you got pregnant, but I'll make sure you have enough money."
"Shut up!" Ayla interrupted him angrily, "Enough money? You, a poor man? Can you give me thirty thousand dollars? Fifty thousand dollars? Or a hundred thousand dollars?"
Leo was just an ordinary guy, only better looking than most. Marrying her was his stroke of luck.
And now he was telling her he never loved her?
What right did he have to say that?
"Do you think Sharon would be interested in you? Why did she choose Seb? Because Seb has money. She didn't choose you five years ago, and she won't choose you now. And why don't you love me? If it weren't for me, could you live the life you have now?"
"Let me tell you, our relationship isn't up to you. You want to divorce me to chase after Sharon? Well, I won't divorce you! Leo, you'll never get away from me!"
Seeing Ayla's crazed look, Leo's expression remained unchanged.
"Ayla, if I want a divorce, I'll get one."
Ayla was about to speak when her phone suddenly rang.
Seeing it was Garry, her eyes widened, and she didn't care about arguing with Leo anymore. She quickly answered the call. "Grandpa..."
"Ayla! I just got word that the Bridges Group won the bid, but before I could even celebrate, someone called me saying you bribed the staff on-site to destroy Silvercrest Group's bid documents. Are you out of your mind? Do you want to ruin the Bridges Group?"
Garry's furious voice made Ayla tremble, and her voice shook, "Grandpa... I didn't mean to. I did it for the company, to help us win the bid."
"For the company? Is this how you help the company? How could I have raised such a useless person like you? Even Damon is better than you! Go to the office, pack your things, and get out! From now on, you have no say in the Bridges Group's affairs!"
He hung up before Ayla could respond.
Ayla stood there, stunned.
With everything crashing down on her, her legs gave out, and she fell to the ground, covering her face and crying.
How did it come to this?
Not long ago, she was the general manager of the Bridges Group, envied by many.
But now, Leo wanted a divorce, and she lost her position as general manager.
The more she thought about it, the sadder she became, and tears streamed through her fingers.
"Ms. Bridges."
She looked up, her vision blurred with tears, and saw two uniformed police officers.
"You are suspected of maliciously damaging a competitor's confidential documents, which is illegal. Please come with us."
Leo returned home, and Jerold immediately ran into his arms. "Dad, why are you back so late? Where's Mom?"
Jerold looked behind Leo but didn't see Ayla, his big eyes full of confusion.
Leo squatted down to look him in the eye, smiling, "Mom has something to do tonight and won't be back. How about Dad sleeps with you?"
Recently, Ayla had been busy with the Bridges Group's affairs, and Jerold was used to her coming home late or not at all. Although he looked a bit disappointed, he still nodded.
"Okay, but you have to tell Mom tomorrow not to work too hard, and... Jerold misses her."
Leo's eyes flickered, and he picked him up, walking upstairs with a gentle expression, "Okay, Mom also told me to tell you she misses you."
It took more than an hour to put Jerold to sleep.
As soon as Leo walked out of Jerold's bedroom, the maid Carol hurriedly approached, "Mr. Wendy, Ms. Bridges hasn't come back yet. I heard from the maids at the old mansion that Ms. Bridges was taken away by the police... Mr. Bridges was very angry. What happened?"
Carol was an old servant of the Bridges family, having watched Ayla grow up, and was very close to her.
So when she heard Ayla was in trouble, she couldn't stay calm and anxiously came to ask Leo about it.
Leo's expression was indifferent, "Carol, don't worry, it won't be a big deal."
With the Bridges family's influence, Ayla would at most be detained at the police station for a few days.
If Ayla hadn't slapped him earlier, he wouldn't have let her be taken away.
But now, they had made things clear, and Ayla's situation had nothing to do with him anymore.
"Mr. Wendy, if there's any news, please let me know immediately."
"Okay, you should go rest now."
After sending Carol away, Leo walked to his study.
Sitting in the chair behind the desk, Leo took out his phone and dialed Jerry's number, speaking coldly, "Alright, time to reel it in."
