Chapter 340 Tyler's Passing
Seeing the hostility in Seb's eyes, Zachary just chuckled.
"Mr. Smith, no offense meant. I've watched Demetrius grow up, and I feel responsible for him too," Zachary said.
Seb's face stayed cold. "He's my son. I can protect him myself," Seb shot back.
He then turned to Sharon, his face blank. "If you move to Mr. Cook's place, let Demetrius move back to the villa. If you continue to live here with Demetrius, I will assign additional personnel to protect you both, ensuring that no one threatens your safety." he stated.
Feeling the tension, Demetrius remained silent, his head bowed and his breathing almost imperceptible.
Sharon pressed her lips together and, after a long pause, said slowly, "I understand. Demetrius and I will stay here."
The coldness in Seb's eyes softened a bit. He put Demetrius down, stood up, and said, "It's late. I won't bother you anymore."
After saying goodbye to Demetrius, Seb turned and left.
Zachary stood up and said gently, "Sharon, I have an early meeting tomorrow. I'll head back now. I'll also send some people over to protect you and Demetrius. I won't let anyone harm you."
"There's no need, Mr. Smith..." Sharon began.
Zachary cut her off, his voice gentle but firm. "Sharon, you're my girlfriend, and I've watched Demetrius grow up. You two mean a lot to me. Mr. Smith's people might be enough, but if I do nothing, I won't feel at ease. So please, don't refuse me."
Sharon sighed and said nothing more.
As Zachary walked out of Sharon's house, his expression turned cold.
When he got downstairs, he saw Seb standing not far away, clearly waiting for him.
Zachary walked up. "Mr. Smith, you must be waiting for me, right?"
"Yes, Mr. Cook. I hope you stay away from my son in the future!" Seb said, his voice full of warning.
Zachary didn't care. He raised an eyebrow and said, "I'm afraid I can't do that. Sharon is my girlfriend, and Demetrius is her child. I've spent nearly five years with Demetrius, so I'm not going to distance myself from him because of your feelings."
The air between them grew quiet, with only the gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze.
Seb stood under the streetlight, half of his face hidden in darkness, his expression gloomy.
"Zachary, you better truly be good to Demetrius. If I find out you've done anything to harm him, I won't let you off," Seb warned.
Zachary smiled slightly. "Don't worry. I love Sharon, and I'll love Demetrius, whom she loves the most," Zachary replied.
Seb's eyes were cold. He said nothing more and turned to leave.
After a few steps, Zachary's clear voice suddenly came from behind. "Mr. Smith, you must have regained your memory, right?"
Seb stopped abruptly and turned to look at Zachary. "What did you just say?"
"Playing dumb is pointless. Although I don't know why you're hiding it from Sharon, if you're going to hide it, you better hide it forever. I don't want Sharon to be torn between you and me," Zachary said.
Seb's brow furrowed coldly. "Don't worry. In her heart, I can't compare to you."
This was clear from her attitude towards both him and Zachary.
"I know. I just think that since your relationship is over, you shouldn't keep coming around and making her relive those painful memories," Zachary said.
Seb's aura turned icy, and he gave Zachary a cold look before turning and leaving.
In the following days, nothing strange happened, and Sharon's tense mood relaxed a bit.
On Friday night, just after Sharon and Demetrius finished dinner, she suddenly got a call from Randy.
"Aunt Sharon, can you bring Demetrius to the hospital now?" Randy asked urgently.
Sharon was taken aback. "What's wrong?" she asked.
She wasn't familiar with Randy. Why would he suddenly ask her to go to the hospital? Could something have happened to Seb? This thought made Sharon's heart skip a beat, and her face turned pale.
"My grandpa passed away last night. The lawyer came today to read the will, and he said you and Demetrius need to be present," Randy explained.
Sharon was shocked; she hadn't expected Tyler to pass away so suddenly.
"Wasn't your grandpa's health quite good recently?" Sharon asked.
Randy sighed and said in a low voice, "I don't know. The doctor did say his health was gradually improving, but last night he suddenly... Let's not talk about this now. If you have time, please bring Demetrius over. Grandpa probably left something for Demetrius."
Sharon frowned, feeling resistant. "Even if he left something for Demetrius, we don't need it," she said.
When Tyler was alive, Sharon never thought of getting anything from him, let alone now that he had passed away.
There was a brief silence on the other end before Randy's somewhat helpless voice came through. "But if you don't come, the lawyer won't read the will. Everyone needs to be present. Could you please come over?"
Considering how Randy had helped Sophie before, she agreed and asked for the hospital and room number.
An hour later, she arrived at the hospital with Demetrius.
In the ward, besides Randy, there were David, Sarah, and Seb.
Seeing Sharon and Demetrius, Sarah sneered, "Mr. Reynolds, are you out of your mind? Why bring two irrelevant people here to read my dad's will? If I remember correctly, she and Alex are divorced, right? They are not part of the Smith family."
Sharon didn't plan to show Sarah any kindness either.
But before Sharon could speak, Seb looked at Sarah coldly and said, "Dad's will includes parts related to her and Demetrius. If you're not satisfied, go talk to Dad yourself."
Sarah's face turned pale, and she pointed at Seb angrily. "Seb, what do you mean by that? Are you cursing me to die?"
Seb gave her a cold look. "If you keep pointing fingers at Sharon and Demetrius, what I said might come true."
Sarah's face turned livid with anger, but she didn't dare to speak again. She knew that when Seb went crazy, he really didn't recognize anyone.
Seeing the room quiet down, Tony finally took out the will and prepared to read it.
"I will now read the will," Tony announced.
As soon as he spoke, everyone's eyes focused on him.
Sharon was also curious about what Tyler's will would say.
"Testator: Tyler Smith"
"Given my advanced age and to prevent any disputes over inheritance after my death, I hereby make this will to arrange my personal property as follows."
"20% of the shares of the Smith Group under my name will be inherited by my grandson, Randy."
"My savings of 106 million, of which 6 million will be inherited by my daughter Sarah Smith. The remaining savings and all my real estate (including a villa in the west of the city), funds, and other properties will be inherited by my grandson, Demetrius Roach."
"To my eldest son David Smith, I leave the inheritance of my selfishness and indifference, hoping he can make good use of it, as I believe he will find it quite useful."
"To my youngest son Seb Smith, I only want to say, 'Take care of yourself'."
"This will is my true intention, has been notarized, and is legally binding."
Testator (signature and fingerprint): Tyler Smith
Date: August 19, 2024."
As soon as Tony finished speaking, David jumped up, fuming.
"I don't recognize this will! My dad couldn't have done this! He couldn't have left me with nothing!" David shouted.
Tony looked at him calmly. "Mr. David Smith, this will has been notarized. If you don't believe it, you can check. There are records."
"No! This is unfair! I won't acknowledge this will! It's unfair, and I don't recognize it!" David exclaimed.
Furious, he turned to look at Sarah, whose face was also grim. "Sarah, do you think this will is real? Dad only left you 6 million? You were Dad's favorite daughter! How could he only leave you 6 million? It must be Seb and Randy who tampered with the will!"
Sarah was also very dissatisfied with the will. Hearing this, she looked at Seb with cold eyes.
"Did you tamper with Dad's will? How could Dad leave $100 million and all the real estate and funds to that illegitimate child?" Sarah accused.
She couldn't help but tremble under Seb's cold gaze.
But thinking about the $100 million and those properties, she gritted her teeth. "Seb, don't you think your behavior is disgusting? Dad must have left that money and property to me! What does it have to do with Sharon and her son? He couldn't have given those things to them!"
Seb's expression was indifferent. "Mr. Reynolds said the will was notarized. If you don't believe it, go check it yourself."
"You can tamper with the will, so you can bribe a lawyer of course!" Sarah retorted.
Hearing this, Tony was so angry that his face turned livid, and his voice trembled. "Ms. Smith, speak with evidence, or I can sue you for slander!"
Sarah sneered, "Then go ahead. Anyway, I won't acknowledge this will. At worst, we'll go to court."
Randy couldn't hold back any longer and interrupted her, "Aunt Sarah, do you think $6 million is too little? When Grandpa was alive, he gave you millions of dollars in pocket money every month, yet you squandered it all on gambling. Even though you lost millions, Grandpa still indulged you. But when Grandpa was sick and in the hospital, you didn't even bother to visit him once. Grandpa shouldn't have left you a single penny!"
Sarah's eyes flashed with guilt, but she quickly became self-righteous again. "You did visit Grandpa, playing the good grandson, so you got 20% of the shares. I didn't realize you had such a scheme! I misjudged you!"
