Chapter 281 What Method to Use to Get Pregnant with My Child

On the flip side, Zachary dropped Sharon and Demetrius off at home.

Seeing Sharon's pale face, still clearly freaked out, he gently said, "Sharon, just chill. I know today was rough. Get some rest, and we'll hash it out tomorrow."

Sharon forced a smile, "Okay, I've hogged your time enough today. You should get back to work."

She remembered Zachary mentioning he had meetings all day, which was why she initially told him not to come. But in the end, he still spent so much time with her.

Seeing the guilt flash in Sharon's eyes, Zachary said in a deep tone, "Sharon, you and Demetrius mean everything to me. Don't worry about my job."

Sharon said, "I know, but I don't want to be a burden. When two people are together, they should have each other's backs, not just one person always doing the heavy lifting."

Seeing the stubborn look in her eyes, Zachary felt a bit helpless.

To him, Sharon's reluctance to accept his help was because she hadn't fully let him in yet.

Given that she had just been scared today and was feeling very unsettled, he didn't want to add more pressure on her.

"Sharon, we'll talk about this later. Get some rest. I'm heading back now."

After Zachary left, Demetrius cautiously walked up to Sharon, "Mom, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have ditched school."

Sharon didn't expect him to dodge the main issue, frowning, "Demetrius, do you think your only mistake today was skipping school?"

Demetrius didn't dare meet Sharon's blaming gaze and kept his head down, speechless.

Sharon didn't push him, "Think about it carefully and tell me when you get it."

With that, Sharon got up and went to the kitchen to make lunch.

She hadn't had time to eat breakfast after learning Demetrius was missing this morning. Now that she had calmed down, she felt hungry.

Demetrius watched her back, his small hands clenched tightly, his little face tense, lips pressed together, looking just like Seb.

Sharon quickly made some spaghetti. When she brought it out and saw Demetrius still standing there, she couldn't help but sigh.

"Demetrius, come eat some spaghetti."

Demetrius hesitated but walked to the table, climbed onto a chair, and mustered the courage to look at Sharon, uttering, "Mom, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have ditched school today. I thought Seb was Dad, so I wanted to see him."

Seeing Demetrius's nervous expression and his hands fidgeting with his clothes, Sharon's gaze softened as she asked, "Demetrius, what do you think now?"

In the past, when Demetrius asked about his dad, Sharon lied and said his dad had passed away. She had since avoided mentioning his father, and Demetrius never brought it up either.

After today's events, Sharon had a feeling that the truth about Seb being Demetrius's father couldn't be hidden any longer. Rather than waiting for Seb to come with proof and fight for Demetrius, Sharon thought it was better to ask Demetrius what he thought now.

Demetrius shook his head, his eyes reddened. "I don't want him to be my dad now. He's not nice to you, and I hate him!"

Demetrius wanted someone gentle like Zachary to be his father, not someone as mean as Seb was today.

Thinking about how Seb had been so mean to his mom today, Demetrius's face filled with anger. If he hadn't been afraid of getting hit, he would have rushed up to bite Seb.

Sharon hesitated for a moment and then finally spilled the beans to Demetrius.

"Demetrius, he is your dad, but he’s got amnesia or something. So, you might have to choose who you wanna live with."

Hearing that, Demetrius stared at Sharon in shock, his fork clattering to the ground.

Sharon continued, "Demetrius, I told you your dad had passed away because we split up. But actually, he never abandoned you; he didn’t even know you existed. Now that you know the truth, you can choose to live with me or with him."

Demetrius was old enough to get it, so Sharon decided to let him make the call.

After all, for a kid who never had a dad around, Demetrius would probably want one.

And since Demetrius started kindergarten, Sharon had realized she could never fill the dad role. That’s why she decided to give things a shot with Zachary, hoping to give Demetrius a complete family.

Sharon thought Demetrius would be torn, but he immediately started bawling, "Mom, don't you want me anymore?"

A bit confused yet amused, Sharon quickly got up, wiped his tears, and knelt beside him, speaking softly, "Why would you think I don’t want you? You’re my favorite."

Demetrius sobbed, "I don’t want that dad. I don’t want to live with him. I want to live with you."

Sharon wiped his tears and comforted, "Okay, don’t cry. I will never abandon you."

She comforted Demetrius until he calmed down, but he was noticeably more clingy than before.

Even when Sharon went to the kitchen to wash dishes, he brought a small stool to sit at the door and watch her, as if afraid she would leave.

Sharon felt a bit helpless, guessing that her earlier question had made him feel insecure. She decided to let him be; in a few days, he would realize she wouldn’t leave him, and he wouldn’t follow her around like a little shadow anymore.

That night, after Sharon put Demetrius to sleep and walked into the living room, she got a call.

Seeing it was an unfamiliar number, she had a feeling it was Seb.

After hesitating for a moment, she answered.

Sure enough, a cold voice came through the phone, "Ms. Roach, I’m downstairs. Let’s meet."

Sharon walked to the window and peeked through the curtain, seeing a black Maybach parked below.

She tried to decline, "Mr. Smith, it’s really late..."

Before she could finish, Seb interrupted, "Ms. Roach, my patience is running thin. Come down, or I’ll come up in five minutes. Your choice."

Sharon was about to speak, but the call was cut off.

She frowned, feeling a bit annoyed.

But thinking that Seb might wake Demetrius if he came up, Sharon put on a coat and went downstairs.

As she approached the car, the driver’s side window rolled down.

"Get in."

Sharon stood still, looking at him coldly, "Mr. Smith, you can say whatever you need to right here. No need for me to get in the car."

Seb’s eyes flashed with coldness, but he didn’t force her. He opened the car door and walked towards Sharon.

Sharon was startled and instinctively took a few steps back to keep her distance from Seb.

Seb stopped a few steps away from her, looking at her with a cold expression, questioning, "I am pretty sure Demetrius is my child. How did you get pregnant with my child back then?"
