Chapter 448 Should I Just Forgive Him Like This?

Leaving Silvercrest Group, Randy headed straight to the office. Since Seb was unreliable, he knew he had to start hustling from now on.

He spent the whole day either in meetings or buried in documents. It wasn't until his secretary reminded him about an evening client meeting that he realized it was already close to six.

He put down the papers and cleared his throat, "Got it, send the time and address to my phone."

"Okay, Mr. Smith," the secretary replied.

After she left, Randy glanced at the documents for a bit longer. Seeing it was almost time, he got up to meet the client.

By the time the meeting wrapped up, it was already past eight. Randy saw the client off to his car and was about to leave when he spotted Sophie and some guy coming out of a nearby restaurant, laughing and chatting.

His expression shifted, and he turned to look at them. The two seemed to sense his gaze and looked over at him simultaneously.

When Sophie saw it was Randy, her smile faded a bit, but she quickly turned back to continue chatting with the guy as if Randy wasn't there.

Randy walked over to Sophie and overheard her telling the guy they should have dinner together another day, his expression tightening unconsciously.

Who was this guy? Why had he never seen him before?

Randy asked, "Sophie, who's this? Aren't you going to introduce us?"

Sophie glanced at him and said indifferently, "Daron Bales, my senior from college. He's in Metropolis on a business trip, and since we're close by, we decided to have dinner together."

Then she looked at Daron and smiled, "Daron, this is my friend, Randy Smith."

When Randy heard her introduce him as just a friend, his face darkened a bit.

He pulled Sophie into his arms and extended his hand to Daron, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Bales. I'm Sophie's boyfriend, Randy."

Sophie frowned but didn't want to disrespect him in front of Daron, so she stayed quiet.

Daron seemed to catch on, noticing the tension between them. He smiled and shook Randy's hand, "Nice to meet you, Randy."

After shaking hands, Randy continued, "Sophie didn't tell me you were coming; otherwise, I would have joined her in inviting you to dinner."

Daron smiled, "Mr. Smith, you're too kind."

Randy said, "It's the least I could do. Mr. Bales, you're such a talented person. Do you have a girlfriend? I have a friend..."

"Randy!" Sophie interrupted angrily. They had just met Daron, and he was already saying such things. Didn't he find it inappropriate?

Daron smiled to ease the situation, "Sophie, it's okay. Mr. Smith, I already have a fiancée, but thank you for your kind offer."

Hearing this, Randy immediately dropped his previous hostility and his smile became much more genuine. "Mr. Bales, I was being presumptuous earlier. Where are you staying? Sophie and I can give you a ride back."

Sophie frowned and directly refused, "No need, I drove here."

Randy continued, "Then I'll drive your car and take Mr. Bales back."

Sophie was almost amused by his persistence, "Randy, we're not going the same way. You should go home."

Randy retorted, "It's on the way. How could it not be? Any road can lead to my house."

Sophie remained silent.

Daron couldn't help but laugh, raising an eyebrow, "Sophie, since your boyfriend insists, let him join us."

Sophie didn't want to make things too awkward in front of Daron, so she pursed her lips and nodded. "Okay."

On the way back, Randy kept chatting with Daron, soaking up all the college stories. When Daron finally got out of the car, Randy seemed reluctant to part. "Mr. Bales, let me treat you to dinner sometime."

Daron shook his head. "I'll be quite busy for a while. When I have some free time, I'll treat you and Sophie to dinner."

Randy replied, "Alright, it's getting late. Take care, Mr. Bales."

Daron said, "Thank you for the ride today."

Randy smiled, "It was my pleasure."

After Daron left, Sophie's face turned cold, "Randy, what do you mean by doing this?"

Randy pretended not to understand. "Nothing, I just saw you having dinner with Mr. Bales and came over to say hello. I didn't want you to be too tired, so I offered to take Mr. Bales back."

Sophie retorted, "Didn't you come over because you suspected something between me and him, and that's why you were making an awkward conversation?"

Randy looked innocent, his eyes filled with grievance as he looked at Sophie. "Sophie, you're wronging me. I really just wanted to say hello."

Sophie said, "Saying hello requires subtly probing if Daron has a girlfriend?"

Facing Sophie's questioning gaze, Randy said seriously, "Daron is a handsome guy. And I do have a friend who doesn't have a boyfriend. Daron is your senior, someone you know well. If he didn't have a girlfriend, wouldn't it be perfect to introduce them?"

Sophie knew she couldn't win the argument with him, so she didn't bother to continue. She turned her face away. "Now that we've dropped him off, you can leave."

Randy said, "Sophie, you can't just use me and then discard me."

Sophie snorted coldly, "I never asked you to help drive. You insisted on it."

Randy replied, "I was just worried you'd be too tired. Let me take you home."

Sophie was about to refuse, but seeing the tired look on his face, she hesitated.

They had met Randy near a restaurant, so he must have just finished a business dinner. Thinking of this, Sophie felt a bit soft-hearted.

She turned her eyes away, her tone still cold, "I'll drive myself."

"How can I let my girlfriend drive?" As he spoke, Randy started the car.

The drive was silent until the car stopped in front of Sophie's house. Randy turned to her, "Sophie, I've thought about our argument. It was indeed my fault. I didn't keep the proper distance from Electra and didn't stop my friends from messing around. I'll keep my distance from Electra in the future. Please don't be mad, okay?"

Sophie's hand tightened unconsciously. After a while, she said, "We're both tired today. Let's talk about this another day. Take the car back. I'll have someone pick it up from your house tomorrow."

With that, she opened the car door to get out.

Randy grabbed her hand, "Sophie, don't go. I don't want to fight or have a cold war with you. You can be mad at me, but please don't ignore me, okay?"

His voice was low, with a hint of pleading.

Sophie pushed his hand away and said softly, "It's late. I don't like making decisions at night. Let's talk tomorrow."

Randy's eyes showed a hint of disappointment, but he didn't stop her.

Sophie's figure quickly disappeared behind the villa door. Randy waited at the door for a while, confirming she wouldn't come out before starting the car and leaving.

Hearing the engine sound downstairs, Sophie lifted the curtain to look outside, only to see her car's taillights flash in the darkness before disappearing around the corner.

She unconsciously tightened her grip on the curtain, her eyes filled with conflict. Should she just forgive Randy?
