Chapter 309 Have You Fallen for Sharon?

Seb's icy demeanor melted in an instant. "I'll be more careful next time," he said, his voice softer.

With that, he headed straight for the study.

Sharon casually looked away and gently reassured Demetrius, "Hey, don't worry. Your dad was just in a bad mood. He won't hurt you."

Demetrius gave a small nod.

As soon as Seb stepped into the study, his phone buzzed.

Rufus was on the other end. "Mr. Smith, Keith met with folks from Luminary Ventures Group tonight."

A week ago, Rufus had tipped Seb off that Keith Montgomery was in talks with Luminary Ventures Group.

Keith, the tech director at Silvercrest Group, was knee-deep in crucial projects. Losing him to Luminary Ventures would be a big blow and could mess with the company's future.

Seb's eyes narrowed, a cold glint flashing. "Ignore him for now. What's Luminary Ventures up to lately?"

Rufus filled him in, "They're eyeing that land in the east and negotiating the Western Suburbs project."

"Got it. Tomorrow, have Mr. Olson meet with Mr. Elliott and snatch that project from them. Also, set up a meeting with Mr. Crawford for me," Seb ordered.

Seb hadn't cared much for the Western Suburbs project—it was high-cost, low-reward. But if Luminary Ventures wanted to play dirty, he was game.

"Understood, Mr. Smith," Rufus acknowledged.

The next day at noon, in the swankiest private room at the Silver Lining Hotel, Elijah Crawford greeted Seb with a smile. "Mr. Smith, what brings you here?"

"Business, of course," Seb replied.

Elijah squinted slightly, then smiled again. "If I recall, we don't have any deals with Silvercrest Group."

"True, but that could change."

An hour later, they left the room together.

"Mr. Smith, let's set a time to sign the contract," Elijah said.

Seb grinned, "How about tomorrow?"

Elijah looked surprised but pleased. "Perfect. I'll bring the contract to Silvercrest Group tomorrow."

"See you then."

Seb got into his car, and the black Maybach sped off.

Once they hit the main road, Rufus spoke up, "Mr. Smith, we've taken Luminary Ventures' biggest supplier. This could put us head-to-head with them."

To seal the deal with Elijah, Silvercrest had offered a price 10% higher than Luminary Ventures, risking big losses.

Seb's expression was frosty. "They tried to poach our tech director. I'm just giving them a taste of their own medicine. And this is just the start."

Rufus shivered under Seb's cold gaze. Messing with Seb meant Luminary Ventures was in for a rough ride.

"What's next, Mr. Smith?"

"Reach out to the smaller shareholders of Luminary Ventures and see if we can buy their shares."

Rufus nodded, "Got it. I'll get on it as soon as we're back."

Not long after they returned, Rebecca showed up.

Seb frowned at her. "I was clear yesterday. I'm not kicking Sharon out of the villa. If you can't deal with it, feel free to call off the engagement."

Rebecca bit her lip, clearly upset. "Seb, I said I wouldn't call off the engagement. I don't get why Sharon has to stay in the villa. I can take care of Demetrius too, and I promise to treat him like my own!"

Seb raised an eyebrow, his tone cool. "Have you ever thought about whether he wants to be with you?"

Rebecca was taken aback, her face paling. Her eyes filled with disappointment as she asked, "So, Sharon and Demetrius are more important to you than me, right?"

Seb didn't respond, but his expression grew impatient. "Rebecca, you can do better."

Rebecca was silent for a long moment, then looked Seb in the eye and asked, "Have you fallen for Sharon?"

Seb frowned, baffled by her question. He had no interest in Sharon, let alone feelings for her. But he couldn't be bothered to explain. "Think whatever you want."

Hearing that, the last bit of hope in Rebecca's heart faded.

She hadn't been able to compete with Sharon five years ago, and it was still the same now.

"Fine, Seb. I agree to call off the engagement, but mark my words, you'll regret it!" She turned and ran out of Seb's office in tears.

Seb's expression didn't change as he picked up his documents and continued working.

In the afternoon, Dana came upstairs and knocked on Sharon's door to ask what she wanted for dinner.

Demetrius, standing nearby, tugged on Sharon's sleeve and eagerly said, "Mom, you promised to make fried chicken for me. I want it now!"

Seeing his excited face, Sharon smiled. "Alright, what else do you want?"

"Hamburgers, steak, barbecue..." Demetrius rattled off a list of dishes, all of which were Sharon's specialties, though she rarely had time to cook.

"That's a lot. Let's pick a few for today, and I'll make the rest later."

"Okay!"

Sharon turned to Dana. "Dana, could you get the ingredients ready? I'll cook tonight."

"Sure, Ms. Roach."

After Sharon told Dana what she needed, Dana went downstairs to prepare.

Sharon played with Demetrius for a bit before heading to the kitchen.

All the ingredients were ready, and Dana had even washed the meat and veggies, so Sharon could start cooking right away.

Demetrius followed her, wanting to help, but after circling around and finding nothing to do, he brought a small stool and sat by the door, watching her cook.

Seeing this heartwarming scene, Dana felt a sense of relief. The villa had always been cold and quiet, but since Sharon and Demetrius arrived, it had become much livelier.

If Sharon and Demetrius could stay, they would surely bring a lot of joy and laughter.

In less than two hours, Sharon had finished cooking.

Worried that Demetrius wouldn't eat anything else, Sharon only fried one chicken leg for him.

As she brought out the dishes, Demetrius had just finished his chicken leg and was licking his fingers in satisfaction.

Seeing his favorite barbecue, his eyes lit up, and he quickly ran to Sharon's side. "Mom, let me taste the barbecue first."

Sharon glanced down at him, seeing his eager eyes fixed on the barbecue. She smiled and picked up a piece with a fork. "Careful, it's hot."

Demetrius carefully took the barbecue, blew on it, and was about to take a bite when a deep voice suddenly came from the kitchen door.

"What are you doing?"

Startled, Demetrius dropped the barbecue on the floor.
