Chapter 291 Willing to Accept Your Child
Thinking about it, Rebecca's eyes lit up when she looked at Aimee.
"Ms. Lawson, are you out shopping?" she asked.
Aimee gave a smile, but there was a chill in her eyes. "Nah, I'm meeting a friend. Ms. Walker, if there's nothing else, I gotta run. Let's catch up next time."
Seeing Aimee about to leave, Rebecca quickly said, "Ms. Lawson, I heard the Lawson Group has a new resort project and hasn't partnered with anyone yet..."
Aimee cut her off with a smile, "Ms. Walker, the Lawson Group already has a partner for that project. If another opportunity comes up, we'll definitely consider the Walker Group."
Rebecca stood there, stunned, and then asked, "Ms. Lawson, can you tell me which group you're partnering with?"
Aimee's eyes flashed with annoyance, and she said firmly, "It's not convenient to disclose that right now. Ms. Walker, goodbye."
Rebecca watched Aimee walk away, snapping back to reality only after she was out of sight.
She wondered who had beaten them to the punch and decided she needed to tell Seb ASAP.
She pulled out her phone to call him but then decided to drive straight to Silvercrest Group to find him.
When Seb saw her, he looked surprised. "What brings you here?"
Rebecca placed the soup she had packed from a nearby restaurant on the table. "We haven't seen each other in a while, and I've made up my mind, Seb. I'm willing to accept your child, no matter what happened in the past. What's important is our future."
Seb paused his signing and looked up at Rebecca, frowning slightly.
"Rebecca, I think you should reconsider."
Ever since Seb found out that Demetrius was his child, he hadn't thought about marriage.
Demetrius was still young, and since he and Demetrius had no emotional foundation, it would take a lot of time to build a relationship. With Rebecca living with them after they got married, Demetrius would have to adjust to living with two strangers, which would be unfair to both Demetrius and Rebecca.
Rebecca's eyes were full of determination as she stated, "Seb, I've thought it through. I love you for who you are, not whether you have a child or not. Although I haven't had much experience with children, I can learn. I believe I can play the role of a mother well. Besides, the child is so young and needs motherly love."
Seb remained silent, and the office fell into a quiet stillness.
Looking at his handsome profile, Rebecca's hand unconsciously clenched.
Given her compromise, she wouldn't believe Seb would still insist on breaking off the engagement.
After a while, seeing that Seb still had no intention of speaking, Rebecca knew he still wanted to break off the engagement. She piped up, "By the way, there's something else I need to tell you."
"What is it?"
"The Lawson Group has already found a partner for its resort project."
Surprise flashed in Seb's eyes, and he raised an eyebrow. "How do you know?"
"I ran into Ms. Lawson while shopping today. I wanted to help you secure a partnership opportunity, but as soon as I mentioned the resort project, Ms. Lawson said they had already confirmed a partner, though it hasn't been announced yet."
Seb had indeed wanted to secure a partnership for the resort project, not for the profits but to establish a firm foothold in Aidamore with the help of the Lawson Group.
However, with the recent issues involving Demetrius and the amusement park project, he had temporarily set this matter aside.
"I see. Thanks for telling me."
Seeing Seb still looking indifferent, Rebecca uttered, "Seb, I won't disturb you any longer. When you have time, bring the child over so we can meet. After all, we'll be living together in the future, and I need to build a relationship with the child in advance."
Seb's eyes narrowed, and just as he was about to say something, Rebecca quickly cut in, "Don't forget to drink the soup and don't overwork yourself."
With that, she turned and left in a hurry.
Watching her leave, Seb's eyes grew colder. Whether Rebecca agreed or not, he was set on breaking off the engagement.
Paul came in to drop off some documents, and Seb said coldly, "We don't need to prep the Lawson Group's resort project proposal anymore."
Paul looked surprised. "Mr. Smith, we've been working on that for over two weeks, and it's almost done. Besides..."
Seb cut him off, "The Lawson Group already has a partner."
Paul swallowed his words and nodded. "Got it."
Leaving the office, Paul had just told another secretary to stop working on the Lawson Group's proposal when his phone rang.
Seeing it was Tyler, Paul tightened his grip on the phone and frowned.
Why would Tyler suddenly call him?
Paul walked to the stairwell, and as soon as he answered, Tyler's cold voice came through. "Paul, did you say something to Seb?"
"Mr. Tyler Smith, what do you mean by that?" Paul was confused.
Tyler snorted. "If you didn't say anything to Seb, why would he suddenly start digging into what happened during his amnesia?"
Paul was taken aback, then remembered Seb recently confirming that Demetrius was his son.
After losing all memories of Sharon, Sharon was just a stranger to Seb.
Seb, being so sharp, would definitely suspect something was off with his previous amnesia.
Moreover, his previous actions had aroused Seb's suspicion, so it was normal for Seb to secretly have someone investigate those months.
Thinking of this, Paul lowered his eyes and said, "Mr. Tyler Smith, I haven't said anything to Mr. Seb Smith. He's been complaining of headaches recently and might have remembered something, which made him suspicious and prompted him to investigate."
"You better not have said anything. Keep your mouth shut and think about your family before you speak."
With that, Tyler hung up.
Paul put away his phone, his head slightly lowered, his face looking somewhat gloomy in the dimly lit stairwell.
On the way back to the lab, Sharon called Zachary, intending to tell him that Aimee had agreed to cooperate with the Cook Group. However, she couldn't get through.
Thinking he might be busy, Sharon decided not to call again.
Meanwhile, in the Cook Group's conference room, the shareholders were all angrily staring at Zachary.
"Mr. Cook, is this your idea of fixing things? Now several partners want to terminate their contracts with the Cook Group just because you impulsively competed with Silvercrest Group for the amusement park project, causing us to lose billions of dollars. Now we're about to lose several major partnerships!"
"Mr. Cook, you said you would resign if things went wrong. You can resign from the CEO position now!"
"Mr. Cook, you talked big before, but now you probably don't want to leave this position. Let me tell you, you don't have your father's capabilities, so don't sit in this position and ruin the Cook Group. Otherwise, one day, the Cook Group will go bankrupt under your leadership!"
Feeling the mocking gazes from everyone, Zachary's expression turned cold as he said, "Those partners only have the intention to terminate the contracts; they haven't done so yet. I'll arrange meetings with them to discuss, and there's still room for negotiation."
As soon as Zachary finished speaking, his secretary, Brad Kidd, walked into the conference room with a grim expression.
"Mr. Cook, the partners who intend to terminate the contracts are here. They're in the reception room now."
