Chapter 60 I Am Sharon's Husband
As the dagger pierced the back of her hand, Sharon let out a muffled groan, her face turning pale from the pain.
Blood flowed from the back of her hand, looking horrifying.
Irene smiled and pulled out the dagger.
Blood spurted instantly, and Sharon bit her lower lip hard to keep from screaming.
Seeing her pained expression, Irene's smile deepened. "I didn't expect you to be so tough. Let's see how long you can keep it up."
She raised the dagger again and thrust it towards Sharon's chest.
But just as the dagger was 0.1 feet away from Sharon's chest, a sharp pain shot through Irene's wrist, causing her to drop the blade.
Irene gaped at the dart embedded in her wrist, then whipped her head toward the figure charging at her.
Panic flashed in her eyes, and she hurriedly bent down to pick up the dagger. However, as she bent down, she was kicked hard in the chest, sending her flying.
Her body hit the ground, and she spat out a mouthful of blood before passing out.
Paul quickly kicked the dagger away and helped Sharon up. "Ms. Wright, are you okay?"
Seeing that it was Paul, Sharon was a bit shocked. She never expected him to come to her rescue, and she wondered how he knew she was there.
Grateful to be alive, she looked at him with appreciation.
She knew very well that given her physical condition, she would have died at Irene's hands if he hadn't arrived in time. "Mr. Harris, thank you."
Due to her injuries and significant blood loss, Sharon's voice was weak.
Paul didn't dare take credit and quickly turned to look at Seb, who was exuding a cold aura. "Mr. Smith, I'll go subdue Irene."
Seb nodded. "Okay."
After Paul left, Sharon looked up at Seb, about to speak, but Seb suddenly leaned over and picked her up.
She gasped and instinctively wanted to wrap her arms around Seb's neck but hesitated because her hands were dirty and one of them was injured.
She said, "Mr. Smith, thank you for saving me, but I think I can walk. Please put me down."
Seb holding her like this made her feel a bit awkward.
Moreover, he was Alex's uncle, and she wanted to keep some distance from him.
Seb looked down at Sharon and said in a deep voice, "Are you sure you can walk?"
Sharon bit her lip, about to insist she could, but Seb was already striding forward with her in his arms.
She looked up and saw his determined jawline, causing her heart to skip a beat. She lowered her head and said nothing more.
As soon as they reached downstairs, the doctor arrived.
After a quick bandage to stop the bleeding, the doctor looked at Seb and said, "Mr. Smith, the preliminary examination shows that Ms. Wright only has some external injuries and is not in immediate danger, but it's best to go to the hospital for a detailed check-up. The wound on her hand is deep and needs an injection."
Seb nodded. "Do as you say."
Sharon wanted to say she could go to the hospital by herself, but when she met his icy gaze, she couldn't say a word.
She felt his anger emanating from deep within, so she thought it was safer not to talk to him.
Soon, Paul came over with the unconscious Irene. "Mr. Smith, what should we do with this woman?"
"Disable her hand and send her to the police station. I don't want to see her out in the open again." Seb's voice was filled with endless coldness, causing Sharon's lowered eyelashes to tremble. But she had no intention of pleading for Irene.
Irene had tried to kill her, so this outcome was her own fault.
Just thinking about Seb saving her once again made Sharon wonder how to repay this life-saving debt.
After Paul left with Irene, Seb got into the car and drove to the hospital.
On the way, Sharon kept glancing at Seb, looking like she wanted to say something but hesitated.
He turned to look at her and said in a deep voice, "What do you want to say?"
Sharon bit her lip. "Mr. Smith, I just wanted to ask how you knew I was kidnapped and how you found me."
"Paul had some experimental data he wanted to ask you about. When he couldn't reach you by phone, he went to your house and found you missing, so he investigated," Seb spoke lightly, but Sharon felt a surge of gratitude.
She said, "Mr. Smith, thank you so much. If it weren't for you and Mr. Harris arriving in time, I might not have survived tonight."
Seb's expression was indifferent. "Don't overthink it. Your main focus now should be to recover."
Sharon didn't say anything, lowering her eyes and deciding to find a way to repay him.
As they neared the hospital, she looked at him. "Mr. Smith, it's quite late now. You can drop me off at the hospital entrance, and I'll go for the check-up myself. You should go home and rest."
Seb didn't say anything. When the car stopped at the hospital entrance, he unbuckled his seatbelt, got out, and carried Sharon into the hospital.
Sharon bit her lip. "Mr. Smith."
"It won't take long." Seb had just taken a few steps when someone stopped him.
Alex, looking cold, stared at Seb and said, "Uncle Seb, thank you for saving Sharon. I'll take it from here."
His hair and clothes were a bit disheveled. If it weren't for a call from a friend at the police station, he might still be unaware that Sharon had been kidnapped.
Thinking about how Seb had been there for Sharon in her most desperate and helpless moment, he felt a surge of jealousy and anger.
If he had been the one to arrive, perhaps his broken relationship with Sharon could have been mended.
Seb's grip on Sharon tightened, and his gaze darkened.
Seeing that Seb had no intention of letting go, Alex smiled. "Uncle Seb, don't forget, I'm her husband. If people see you carrying her into the hospital and it gets photographed like last time, it could cause misunderstandings."
"You wouldn't want my wife to suffer from any rumors because of you, would you?"
Alex was certain that if Seb liked Sharon, he wouldn't let her reputation be tarnished.
Sure enough, Seb's expression softened slightly. But before he could speak, Sharon said, "Mr. Smith, please put me down. I can walk by myself."
After a few seconds of silence, Seb put Sharon down.
Alex tried to hug Sharon, but she pushed him away. "Don't touch me."
Thinking about how he was with Ava during her life-threatening moment with Eugene, Sharon felt a wave of disgust.
Alex's hand froze in mid-air, and his expression darkened. "Sharon, I know I disappointed you by not arriving in time, but I just found out..."
Sharon interrupted him calmly, "It doesn't matter anymore."
To her, Alex was now just a stranger. She didn't want to waste any more emotion on him.
For some reason, Alex felt a sudden panic.
He felt like he was really losing Sharon.
While he was in a daze, Sharon had already limped towards the hospital.
Alex clenched his fists tightly, and whatever he was thinking, he quickly walked over to Sharon and forcefully picked her up, carrying her into the hospital.
Sharon struggled violently, shouting, "Alex, put me down!"
Alex ignored her, his face dark and determined. He only knew that he couldn't lose her!
Seb stood where he was, watching Alex carry Sharon away. His eyes were dark, as if something was brewing within them.
