Chapter 165 Jealous
Paul kept his head down, too scared to speak. They'd just lost a big partnership.
But he couldn't figure out why Brightrise Enterprises would risk upsetting Silvercrest Group to work with Alex's small company.
Seb was fuming. "Get the person running this deal over here, now!"
"On it!"
Paul quickly left, not wanting Seb to call him back.
Since breaking up with Sharon, Seb had been a nightmare.
Around noon, Sharon went to lunch with Ashley.
Ashley found it odd and asked, "Sharon, aren't you eating with Mr. Smith?"
They'd just started dating, so they should be inseparable. But Sharon seemed the same as always.
A few days ago, Sharon would check her phone for messages, but today she hadn't touched it.
Sharon calmly said, "We broke up."
"What!"
Ashley covered her mouth, shocked.
Once they sat down, Ashley leaned in and whispered, "Why did you break up? Did Mr. Smith end it?"
Sharon, expressionless, said, "Doesn't matter who ended it. Let's eat; the food's getting cold."
Seeing Sharon didn't want to talk, Ashley pretended to eat while wondering why they broke up.
Halfway through the meal, HR came to find Sharon.
"Sharon, this is your new colleague. He's on another project but shares your office. Please get along."
Sharon frowned when she saw the man next to HR. It was Leo.
"Why didn't you mention you were joining Silvercrest Group when we had dinner?" Sharon asked.
Leo smiled. "I applied to several places but felt Silvercrest was the best fit."
HR, noticing they knew each other, smiled. "You two know each other?"
Leo nodded. "Yes."
"Great, no need for introductions. Sharon, I have other things to do. His desk is next to yours, so show him around later."
"Okay."
After HR left, Ashley's eyes darted between Sharon and Leo, smiling.
"Sharon, why didn't you mention you knew such a handsome guy?"
Sharon calmly said, "This is my brother, Leo. This is Ashley Martin, my colleague."
Leo's eyes flickered, and he smiled.
"Miss Martin, hello, I'm Leo Wendy."
Ashley quickly shook his hand. "Hello, Ashley Martin. You two are siblings but have different last names. Is one of you using your father's surname and the other your mother's?"
Leo's smile deepened. "No, we're from a blended family."
Ashley nodded, understanding. "Got it."
Not wanting to continue the topic, Sharon looked at Leo. "Had lunch yet?"
"Not yet. Any recommendations?"
Sharon thought for a moment. "I remember you don't like spicy food. There's non-spicy stuff upstairs; check it out."
"Got it."
After Leo left, Ashley whispered, "Sharon, Leo is so hot. Is he single? 'Cause I'm definitely interested!"
Sharon saw Ashley's infatuated look and was a bit surprised. She knew Leo was good-looking. Back in high school, everyone knew she was Leo's sister, and a lot of girls asked her to pass him love notes. At first, he'd just throw them away, but later he warned her not to accept any more or he'd tell Robert.
While Leo was abroad, she hadn't heard if he dated anyone. Sharon shook her head. "I don't know. If you're curious, I can ask him for you."
Ashley hugged Sharon excitedly. "You're the best! If I end up with him, I'll owe you big time!"
As they talked, Leo returned and sat next to Sharon, starting to eat. Ashley stared at him with dreamy eyes, practically sparkling.
Seeing Ashley almost drooling, Sharon coughed lightly to remind her not to overdo it. Leo had always disliked girls with girlish fantasies, and he probably hadn't changed.
None of them noticed a tall figure entering the restaurant. Seb walked in, saw Sharon and Leo, and frowned. Paul followed behind, feeling the temperature drop and shivering.
Seb's cold voice broke the silence. "Send out a notice: from now on, men and women can't sit together in the restaurant."
Paul was speechless. 'What kind of rule is that?' But then he saw Sharon and Leo chatting and laughing, and Seb's stormy face, and understood. Seb was jealous.
"Mr. Smith, the person next to Ms. Wright is her brother."
Seb shot Paul a cold look. "Does it matter to me who she sits with? Mind your own business!"
Paul barely held back his laughter and nodded. "Yes, Leo is our new pharmaceutical researcher. Just thought I'd let you know."
"Don't bother me with trivial matters."
"Understood."
As they passed by Sharon, Seb walked straight ahead, pretending not to see her. Although Sharon was smiling and talking to Leo, her fingers turned white as Seb passed by. She lowered her eyes, losing her appetite.
Sharon had thought she could stay indifferent, but when he walked by, her heart still fluttered. Noticing something was off, Leo softly asked, "Why are you eating so little?"
"I'm full."
"You're too thin; you need to eat more."
Sharon frowned. "I'm really full."
She picked up her plate and stood up. "I'm going to get some fresh air. I'll wait for you outside."
After dumping the leftovers, Sharon turned to leave, only to suddenly meet a pair of deep, dark eyes.
