Chapter 246 If I Were a Man, I'd be Tempted Too

Ava shook her head. "Mom, it's kinda complicated right now. Just chill here for a bit. I'll come get you once I sort things out."

Walter frowned, his voice laced with frustration, "So you're saying we gotta stay cooped up in this place?"

"Dad, just hang tight a little longer. It won't be forever."

Walter looked like he wanted to argue, but Thalia cut in, "Alright, I get it. Ava, I don't know what's going on between you and Alex. Just be patient. Good things take time."

"Okay, I got it."

Theodore, who was standing nearby, looked pissed and raised his voice, "Ava, I don't care what went down between you and Alex. I'm going on a trip with my girlfriend next week. If you haven't sorted things out by then, I'm not letting you off the hook!"

Theodore's tone was full of impatience and annoyance. Walter and Thalia had always spoiled him, and Ava had always been the one to give in, which had made him a bit of a brat.

If Ava hadn't married Alex, Theodore wouldn't be treating her so nicely now; he would've probably gotten physical long ago.

Ava was used to it and didn't think much of it.

"Got it."

After spending more than half an hour with her family, Ava left.

She headed straight to meet Grace at a private café.

"Grace, thanks for getting my parents and brother out."

Grace smirked. "No need to thank me. I just need you to help me deal with Sharon."

"What do you want me to do?"

"Kidnap Sharon and make her disappear for good."

Even though she had braced herself, Ava couldn't help but bite her lip when she heard it.

She took a deep breath and nodded, "Alright! But you gotta help me too."

"Don't worry, I'll find someone to help you."

'Dominic would be perfect for this. If things go south, I can just blame Dominic and Ava, and I'll walk away clean.' Grace's smile grew wider at the thought.

Three days after contacting Donna, Sharon got another call from her.

"Sharon, I've found a place for you. Buy a ticket and come to Aidamore. Just let me know when you get in, and I'll pick you up."

Hearing this, Sharon's face lit up with excitement. "Donna, thank you! I'll pack my stuff and get my ticket ASAP."

"Alright."

Sharon put down her phone and started making a packing list. She also thought about subletting her place.

In the afternoon, she packed her clothes and mailed them out, then continued sorting other bits and pieces.

Sophie, knowing Sharon was planning to leave Metropolis for Aidamore, showed up in less than half an hour.

"Are you really leaving?"

While packing, Sharon replied, "Yeah, I'll pack up in the next couple of days and sublet the apartment. Staying in Metropolis means I'll keep getting harassed by Alex and Ava."

Sophie frowned, "Why don't you stay at my place? They won't be able to bother you there."

She didn't want Sharon to leave. Once Sharon moved to Aidamore, it would be hard for them to see each other.

Even though Aidamore was just a three-hour flight from Metropolis, they'd be caught up in their own lives, making it tough to hang out.

Sharon shook her head. "Moving to your place would just be a temporary fix. They'd still find a way to mess with me. Plus, I need to ask Donna some stuff for my exams. Moving to Aidamore is actually a solid plan."

Seeing her determined look, Sophie didn't push it.

After all, moving to Aidamore was probably better for Sharon than staying here and getting harassed.

"Alright, I just hate to see you go."

Sharon's mood dipped seeing how bummed Sophie was.

She never thought she'd be moving to another city or hitting the books again.

"Don't be sad. If you miss me, you can always video call or come visit."

Sophie sighed, "I guess that's the only way. Let me help you pack."

They packed until evening, sorting stuff into boxes to take and leave behind.

"That's enough for today. I'm starving. Let's go, dinner's on me."

Sophie didn't hesitate and picked a restaurant. They drove their own cars there.

As they parked at the restaurant, they ran into Zachary.

"Ms. Wright, didn't expect to see you here!"

Zachary seemed excited. Maybe it was just the lighting, but his cheeks looked a bit flushed.

Sharon gave a polite smile and nodded, "Yeah, Mr. Cook, here for dinner?"

"I'm meeting a client. I didn't get a chance to grab your contact info at Sophie's birthday party. Mind if we exchange?"

Zachary's voice was gentle, his eyes hopeful.

"Sure."

They swapped contact info, and Zachary went inside to meet his client.

Sophie, having parked her car, saw Zachary's back as he entered the restaurant.

"Why does his back look familiar?"

Sharon raised an eyebrow. "That's Zachary. You introduced him to me at your birthday party, remember?"

"Now that you mention it, it is Zachary. I thought he looked familiar. I was actually thinking of setting you up with him."

"Not interested right now."

"I know, but you could start as friends. Zachary's family is in business, and he's in Metropolis for experience. He might go back to Aidamore to take over the family business in a few years."

Sharon couldn't help but laugh, "Would Zachary even be interested in me?"

"Of course, you're gorgeous. If I were a guy, I'd be interested too."

Sophie pinched her cheek playfully, looking mischievous.

Sharon rolled her eyes. "Thanks, but looks fade. Character and strength are what matter. Attracting men with looks alone will only lead to failure. I won't always be young, but there will always be other young girls."

"Just kidding. Actually..."

Seeing Sophie hesitate, Sharon frowned. "What is it?"

After a moment's hesitation, Sophie decided not to tell Sharon that Zachary had asked her to introduce them.

Given Sharon's cold attitude, she clearly wasn't interested in pursuing anything with Zachary. Better to let things happen naturally.

If fate had it, they would end up together.

"Nothing, I'm just really hungry. Let's go in."
