Chapter 250 No Matter What You Promise, I Won't Let You Go!

Alex just stood there, frozen like a statue.

"Mr. Smith?" Joseph asked, sounding worried.

"I'm gonna find Sharon. No way something happened to her!"

Alex shoved the phone back into Joseph's hands, spun around, and made a beeline for the elevator.

Joseph rushed to block him, "Mr. Smith, there's a huge international meeting coming up. You can't bail now."

That meeting was a big deal for a major company collab. If Alex ditched, it would definitely piss off the other party.

Alex's face went pale, his fists clenching at his sides, and you could see the struggle in his eyes.

After a moment, he took a deep breath, turned, and headed back to the office.

"Keep tabs on the police station. Let me know the second there's any news."

"Yes, sir!"

Just as he reached the office door and was about to push it open, Alex suddenly remembered the weird text Ava had sent him earlier.

His expression shifted, and he quickly turned around. "Find out where Ava is right now!"

He whipped out his phone and dialed Ava's number. It connected, but no one picked up.

By the river on the east side of Metropolis.

Felipe, dressed in black, was dragging a suitcase alone down the road. Suddenly, a phone rang from inside the suitcase.

Felipe frowned, looked around, saw no one else, and quickly dragged the suitcase away.

Before long, he reached the riverbank.

Felipe tied a big rock to the suitcase and then chucked it into the river. The suitcase, along with the rock, quickly sank.

After waiting for a bit, Felipe finally turned and left.

After the call automatically disconnected, Alex glared at his phone and sent another message.

Alex: [Ava, if Sharon's accident has anything to do with you, you're gonna pay!]

He put down his phone and picked up a document to read.

Less than half an hour later, Joseph came back, looking grim.

"Mr. Smith, I can't reach Ava. I sent someone to her place, but no one was there."

"What?"

Alex's heart sank, and he snapped, "Track her phone right now. We gotta find her ASAP. Sharon's accident might be tied to her!"

'Sharon just had an accident, and now Ava's missing? No way that's a coincidence!' Alex thought.

"Yes, Mr. Smith, I'll get on it right away!"

After Alex wrapped up the meeting, Joseph rushed into the office to report, "Mr. Smith, Ava's phone is off. We can't track it."

"Then find out where she was last seen and keep digging. We have to find her!"

Sharon had no clue how long she'd been out. When she woke up, she found herself tied to a chair, hands and feet bound.

It was pitch dark around her, filled with dust and a musty smell.

It took a while for Sharon's eyes to adjust to the darkness, and she could barely see anything.

She seemed to be in a basement or something, and yelling for help was pointless.

Sharon lowered her eyes, trying to figure out who could've kidnapped her.

The first name that popped into her mind was Ava. After all, Ava had always hated her, and Alex had made her kneel at the community gate to beg for forgiveness. Ava was the most likely suspect.

Sharon mused, 'But does Ava have the means to find people to kidnap me?'

Before she blacked out, the guy who grabbed her car door, Enrique, was clearly a pro. Finding someone like that took not just money but connections.

As Sharon's thoughts wandered, the basement door creaked open.

Light streamed in from outside, and Samuel walked down the steps.

Sharon looked at him, her heart pounding. "Who are you, and why did you kidnap me?"

She was trying to act tough, but inside she was a mess of nerves and fears. She had no clue how she ended up here or what these people wanted.

Samuel didn't say a word. He just walked up to her and handed her a piece of bread.

Sharon thought, 'If they're feeding me, they don't plan to kill me, at least not yet.'

She took a deep breath to steady herself. She looked Samuel in the eyes. "Why did you kidnap me? Is it for money or something else? Or are you following someone's orders?"

As she finished speaking, she noticed Samuel's pupils narrow sharply, confirming he was sent by someone who hated her.

"Eat or not?"

Samuel finally spoke, his voice rough, and his gaze cold as ice.

"How much are they paying you? I'll give you double. And the person who ordered my kidnapping, it's either Ava or Grace, right?"

Besides Ava and Grace, no one else had a reason to snatch her out of the blue.

Seeing the flicker of emotion in Samuel's eyes again, Sharon knew she was on the right track.

"I can give you double the benefits, as long as you—"

Before she could finish, Samuel smashed the bowl in his hand onto the ground. The shards flew, cutting Sharon's leg, and blood immediately flowed out.

"If you're not gonna eat, then shut up. No matter what you promise, I won't let you go!"

'Rose and the kid's lives are still in Grace's hands. How could I let her go?' Samuel thought.

Samuel angrily threw down those words and then turned and left.

The basement door closed, cutting off the light from outside.

Thinking about how Samuel hadn't taken the bowl shards with him when he left, Sharon glanced down at her belly.

'If this child couldn't be saved, it is fate.' With that thought, Sharon steeled herself and threw her body to the side.

In the next second, she and the chair crashed to the ground, pain shooting through her body. But Sharon didn't have time to think about it. She used her knees to push herself towards the nearest shard.

After what felt like an eternity, Sharon, drenched in sweat, finally grabbed the shard.

She gripped the shard tightly and began sawing at the ropes binding her hands.

Because she was using so much force, the shard cut into her fingers, but Sharon ignored the pain and didn't stop.

Finally, the rope around her wrists loosened.

Sharon quickly cut the ropes around her feet as well. Then she groped around the basement for the sharpest shard she could find and held it tightly in her hand, moving quietly towards the stairs.

At the basement door, she gently tugged on the handle. The door didn't budge, indicating it was locked from the outside.

She pressed her ear to the door but heard nothing.

Sharon gripped the shard tightly, slowed her breathing, and prepared to rush out the next time Samuel came down.

Meanwhile, Joseph's investigation into Ava's recent phone calls showed something off.

Ava had been frequently in touch with someone she had never called before, which belonged to an employee of the Edwards Group.

Joseph immediately reported this finding to Alex, who listened with a grim expression.

'Ava has no connection with Victor and shouldn't know any employees of the Edwards Group. Moreover, their contact is out of the blue.'

As he thought about it, Alex's eyes widened, and he gritted his teeth. "Check if that phone number belongs to Grace!"

Realizing this possibility, Alex angrily dialed Seb's number.
