Chapter 530 You're the One Being Unreasonable
Seb nodded. "I've got Paul looking into Alton right now. He just got off the plane and went straight to Harmony Apartments to find Leo. He knew exactly where Leo would be, and I'm worried he might do something to Demetrius."
Sharon felt the same unease. Back in Aidamore, Demetrius had never mentioned anyone like Alton. Now, this sudden appearance made her anxious, like something bad was about to happen.
"I'll keep an eye on Demetrius and make sure he doesn't contact that guy again. You focus on the company."
"Thanks, Sharon. I appreciate it."
Sharon shook her head. "The most important thing to me now is that the three of us are together. Nothing else matters."
Seb hugged Sharon, then let go and headed to his study to continue working.
In the study, he called Paul. "How's the investigation on Alton going?"
"Mr. Smith, I can't find any information on him in Stellaria. It's like he appeared out of thin air."
"Keep digging. If Falcon gets any leads, let me know immediately."
"Yes, Mr. Smith."
Seb hung up and placed his phone on the desk, deep in thought. Alton had come from Stellaria, and the money Demetrius received was from Alton. That money had been traced back to the Stoll family.
If Alton was connected to the Stoll family, it made sense that Paul couldn't find any information on him.
Seb called Paul again. "Set up a meeting with Alton for tomorrow."
The next morning at 8 AM, Seb met Alton at a café in Metropolis.
Alton smiled. "Mr. Smith, what can I do for you?"
Seb stared coldly at him. "Why are you getting close to my son? What's your goal?"
Alton raised an eyebrow. "I have no ulterior motive. I just think Demetrius is adorable, that's all."
The conversation fell into silence.
After a while, Seb spoke again. "Mr. Roach, I don't like beating around the bush. You transferred money to Demetrius's account, didn't you? Why would you give so much money to a child?"
Alton remained calm. "That money was earned by Demetrius. I was just giving him his due payment."
"And what could a five-year-old possibly do to earn that much money?"
Alton smiled slightly, meeting Seb's cold gaze. "That's Demetrius's private matter. If he wants to tell you, that's up to him. But it's not my place to say. If you really want to know, you should ask Demetrius yourself."
"Mr. Roach, Demetrius is just a child. He can't distinguish right from wrong. If you're trying to use him, I won't let you get away with it."
Seb's tone was icy, his expression serious.
Alton chuckled. "Mr. Smith, you can rest assured. I like Demetrius and would never harm him. As for the money, he earned it himself. If you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do."
"I hope you're telling the truth, Mr. Roach."
With that, Seb stood up and left.
As soon as he got in the car, Paul spoke up. "Mr. Smith, Leo has confessed everything. He planned to kidnap Mr. Roach and Ms. Roach and take them abroad. But when Ms. Roach came to deliver documents to you, he only managed to kidnap Mr. Roach and then tried to use him to lure Ms. Roach."
"But his plan failed."
"His secretary has also been detained by the police and will likely face prison time."
Seb's expression was cold. "Make sure he doesn't get out."
"Yes, Mr. Smith."
Paul was about to leave when the office door swung open, and Garry walked in with a grim expression.
"Mr. Smith, long time no see."
Seb raised an eyebrow and smiled. "Mr. Bridges, it's been a while. What brings you here today?"
Garry sneered. "I heard my foolish granddaughter sold 10% of the Bridges Group's shares to you for fifty million dollars without knowing their true value. I'm here to discuss that."
"Mr. Bridges, please have a seat. Let's talk this over."
Garry sat down opposite Seb. "Mr. Smith, I don't intend to take advantage of you. Ayla sold the shares to you for fifty million dollars. I'll add another ten million and buy them back for sixty million. How about it?"
Seb narrowed his eyes and glanced at Paul. "Get Mr. Bridges a cup of coffee, using the finest beans."
Paul nodded and left the office.
Once the door closed, Seb looked at Garry. "Mr. Bridges, Ayla agreed to the price, and we've completed the transaction. Taking the shares back now wouldn't be appropriate."
Garry's face darkened. "Mr. Smith, everyone knows fifty million dollars is far below the value of 10% of the Bridges Group. You took advantage of my granddaughter's ignorance."
"Mr. Bridges, your words are too harsh. Ayla was satisfied with the price. Instead of questioning me, you should ask yourself why she preferred to sell to me rather than to her own family."
"You!" Garry slammed the table, his face livid. "Seb, don't push it!"
Seb raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Bridges, you're the one being unreasonable. Ayla sold the shares to me. If you want them back, you can buy them at market price. If not, I'll remain a shareholder of the Bridges Group."
"But rest assured, Mr. Bridges, as a shareholder, I'll fulfill my responsibilities."
Garry was furious, nearly spitting blood. He regretted not buying the shares himself for fifty million dollars.
"Mr. Smith, let's cut to the chase. What will it take for you to return the shares?"
