Chapter 217 Can You Lend Me Some Money?

Boris sneered. "Mr. Smith has the cash to cover for her."

Seb looked at Boris and said slowly, "I'll cover for her if she did it."

"If she didn't, then who? The email came from her computer, right?"

Boris held back, fearing Seb might cause trouble for him later, but he wanted to accuse Seb of protecting Sharon.

"Yeah, it came from her computer, but there's no proof she contacted the Pacific Wellness Institute."

"The email is proof enough. What more do you need? Mr. Smith, are you trying to dodge payment?"

If the board had to pay, Boris would be the first to object!

"Mr. Blackwel, we're here to discuss the compensation amount, not whether I'll pay."

Boris snorted and stayed quiet.

After an hour, they settled on $1.56 billion.

As the meeting ended, Boris told Seb, "Mr. Smith, a woman who leaks company data? You should ditch her before she causes bigger problems."

"No matter how big the problem, I can handle it. Mr. Blackwel, worry about your own family instead of my affairs."

Boris's face tightened, and he left, gritting his teeth.

Everyone at Silvercrest Group knew Boris had a mistress. When his wife found out, she got a gigolo and flaunted him, humiliating Boris.

Ironically, Boris got his position through his wife's family, so he didn't dare mention divorce.

Back in his office, Seb was about to review some documents when Grace called.

"Seb, I heard from Victor you ended the partnership with the Edwards group for Sharon?"

Seb's eyes flashed with impatience. "What's that got to do with you?"

After a pause, Grace's hurt voice came through, "I was just worried about you. You and Victor have been friends for years; I don't want you to fall out over a misunderstanding."

"If you knew the whole story, you'd know there's no misunderstanding."

"Victor just wanted to scare Ms. Wright, not harm her. This started because of me. Blame me, not Victor."

Seb's brows furrowed, and his tone turned icy, "Grace, I'm grateful you saved me, but that doesn't give you the right to meddle in my company's affairs. Until you figure out what you want, don't contact me again."

Grace hung up, her face dark with jealousy and resentment.

Across from her, Victor looked displeased. He hadn't expected Seb to be so firm about ending their partnership.

And judging by Grace's demeanor, she still had feelings for Seb.

"Grace, do you want me to get rid of Sharon before you'll be with me? Or are you planning to blame me after Sharon's gone to get back with Seb?"

Victor stared at Grace, watching for any change in her expression.

If Grace really wanted to be with him, she wouldn't need to wait for him to get rid of Sharon.

Unless she wanted to clear the way to get back with Seb.

Grace looked at Victor, shocked and sad. "Victor, I can't believe you think that. I called Seb for you. I was trying to help because I felt you were wronged."

Victor, sensing her agitation, quickly sat beside her. "Grace, I'm sorry. I was just angry and lost my mind. Please forgive me, okay?"

Seeing Victor's panic, Grace felt relieved. She turned away, irritated. "I told you to forget about that night. You insisted on being with me. If you regret it, we can just be friends again."

"No!"

Victor grabbed her hand gently. "I don't want to be your friend; I want to be your boyfriend."

Grace felt nothing but put on a shy expression. "Okay."

Seeing her blush, Victor felt a stir and kissed her.

Grace quickly pushed him away. "No, there are too many people here."

Victor frowned. "Am I that embarrassing?"

"No, but my breakup with Seb isn't public yet. If someone sees us, it won't be good for you."

"I don't care."

"But I do. Let's wait until we're back."

Victor smiled at her promise. "Okay, we'll wait."

Neither knew their kiss had been captured by Brian, who was outside the window.

That evening, Sharon had just finished dinner when she got a message from Brian.

Seeing the photo of Victor and Grace kissing, she raised an eyebrow. She hadn't expected Brian to find such a scoop.

Since Victor had time to follow her, she decided to post the photo online to keep him busy.

After sending the photo to a gossip account, Sharon put down her phone. She was about to read when Ashley called.

"Sharon, can you lend me some money?"

Ashley's voice was hoarse and downcast.

"What happened? How much do you need?"

"Two hundred thousand dollars, is that okay?"

Sharon was taken aback. "What happened? Why do you need so much?"

"My dad is sick and needs surgery. It costs two hundred thousand dollars. Sharon, if you're worried, I can leave my passport with you. I'll pay you back slowly."

Hearing Ashley's sobs, Sharon quickly said, "Okay, I'll transfer it right away. Don't worry, everything will be fine."

"Sharon, thank you!"

"Don't worry about the money. If you need more, just let me know. I'll transfer it now. Which hospital is your dad in? I'll visit him tomorrow."

Sharon mainly felt Ashley's emotional state was off and wanted to comfort her.

Ashley was almost in tears. "No need. I'm already very grateful. I'm sorry for troubling you."

"It's nothing. Friends should help each other."

After comforting Ashley, Sharon hung up and transferred the money.

As soon as the money was transferred, Ashley's phone dinged, showing a deposit of two hundred thousand dollars.

Tears welled up in Ashley's eyes as she looked at Leo standing in front of her, filled with hatred.

"Sharon has transferred the money. Can you release my mom now?"
