Chapter 519 No Right to Be Sarcastic
After Sharon went upstairs, Seb returned to the study.
Sitting behind his desk, he didn't rush to handle the documents. Instead, he pondered whether to use the money from Demetrius's bank account to save Silvercrest Group.
He didn't know how much time had passed before he finally made up his mind.
The next morning, Seb left the house right after breakfast.
Demetrius had just finished washing up and was about to go upstairs to change clothes when Sharon called out to him, "Demetrius, starting today, you don't need to go to school. You'll be studying at home with Mom for a while."
Demetrius was taken aback. "Why?"
Sharon gently patted his head and said softly, "Mom's not working right now, so I have time to help you practice your writing. We'll study at home for a bit, and then you can go back to school. How does that sound?"
Whether he went to school or not didn't matter much to Demetrius. He nodded, "Okay."
Seeing that Demetrius didn't ask further questions, Sharon secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
If he had continued to ask, she would have had to come up with an excuse.
Sometimes, lying to kids can be exhausting.
Meanwhile, Seb had arrived at the company.
As soon as he walked into his office, Paul knocked and entered with a grim expression. "Mr. Smith, the evidence we submitted about Vertex Innovations Group stealing Silvercrest Group's trade secrets has all been rejected."
Seb's eyes darkened. When Leo had come over before, he had anticipated that they would tamper with the evidence.
"Got it. Transfer three billion dollars to the company account and withdraw the bankruptcy application."
Paul's eyes lit up as he took the bank card Seb handed him. "Yes, I'll do it right away!"
Leo had been waiting for Seb to come to him, but instead, he heard the news that Silvercrest Group had received a mysterious investment and was back on its feet.
When Zack reported this to him, the smile on Leo's face froze.
"What did you say?"
"Mr. Wendy..."
"Find out who invested in Silvercrest Group!"
"Yes, I'll get on it right away."
Avoiding Leo's gaze, Zack hurried out.
Leo's face turned ashen as he swept all the documents off his desk in a fit of rage.
Who would invest in Silvercrest Group at this time?
Even if Silvercrest Group avoided bankruptcy, it wouldn't recover for years. Investing in it now was like throwing money into a black hole.
The more he thought about it, the angrier Leo became.
The office door was suddenly pushed open, and Daniel walked in with a blank expression. "Leo, didn't you say Silvercrest Group would go bankrupt this week? I've been waiting, and now I hear they've received an investment and are back on their feet. You're really something!"
Leo sneered, "You did nothing, so what right do you have to come here and be sarcastic?"
"You!" Daniel pointed at him, his voice filled with anger. "You told me to spread rumors about Silvercrest Group, and I did. Now you haven't kept your promise, and you have the nerve to blame me?"
If he had known Leo was so useless, he would never have partnered with him.
"Are you done? If so, you can leave. Our partnership is over. How you deal with Silvercrest Group from now on is your business, not mine."
Daniel was so furious he almost spat blood. "Fine! Leo, don't regret this!"
He had colluded with Silvercrest Group's shareholders to steal their core data. Once Silvercrest Group was back on track, Seb would never let him off.
Thinking of this, Daniel's face darkened, and he turned to leave.
It was better to distance himself from Leo now to avoid being implicated.
Not long after Daniel left, Leo's secretary Zack rushed into the office. "Mr. Wendy, I couldn't trace the source of Silvercrest Group's funds. It's like the money appeared out of thin air... I..."
"Get out!" Leo's eyes were bloodshot, his face twisted with rage, looking terrifying.
Zack didn't dare say another word. He quickly turned and left, closing the door behind him.
Everything was over now.
With Silvercrest Group avoiding bankruptcy, he had no way to deal with Seb, and no chance to be with Sharon.
Meanwhile, in the Silvercrest Group CEO's office.
"Mr. Smith, with this investment, the company will soon recover. I'll notify the previous employees over the next few days. If any of them want to return, they can rejoin within the next two days."
Paul's face was full of smiles as he spoke.
"Got it. You can go back to work."
"Yes, sir!"
Seb opened a file but couldn't focus on a single word.
He didn't know if using the money from Demetrius's bank account was a blessing or a curse, but it was the only way out.
Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to start working.
With the company back in operation, there were many issues to resolve.
Throughout the afternoon, several former partners who had terminated their contracts with Silvercrest Group came to renegotiate.
Some were still observing, planning to wait until Silvercrest Group stabilized before deciding whether to renew their partnerships.
Seb instructed Paul to spread the word that any company that reestablished cooperation within three days would be treated as if the termination had never happened.
After three days, Silvercrest Group would never work with those former clients again.
Once this news was out, most of the observing companies immediately sent representatives to discuss partnerships.
Paul was a bit dissatisfied. "Mr. Smith, when Silvercrest Group was in trouble, these companies were the first to leave. Why give them another chance now?"
Seb remained calm. "Business is about profit. When there's no profit, it's natural to leave. You can't expect others to lose money to work with you."
Even he would choose to terminate a partnership if the other company had issues.
"Alright."
Paul couldn't reach Seb's level of understanding. No wonder Seb was the CEO of Silvercrest Group, and he was just a secretary.
Seb worked late into the night before returning to the villa. Seeing Sharon waiting for him as usual, he frowned and walked over. "Sharon, if I come back late, you don't need to wait for me."
"Okay. You've had a long day. Are you hungry? Do you want a snack?"
Her words reminded Seb that he had been so busy he hadn't had time for dinner.
"You go rest. I'll make some pasta," he replied.
"I made ravioli with Dana tonight. There are plenty of fresh ones in the fridge. I'll cook some for you. You take a break."
As she headed to the kitchen, Seb followed her.
Sharon filled a pot with water and set it on the stove, then turned to the fridge to get the ravioli.
"You shouldn't eat too much at night. I'll just cook a little."
Seb looked at her, his eyes full of tenderness. "You go rest. I'll handle it."
He reached out to take the ravioli from her, but Sharon dodged his hand.
She asked, "I can't sleep right now anyway. By the way, how did things go at the company today?"
