Chapter 139 We Must Make Sure She Leaves with Nothing!

Clara knew Sharon was about to divorce Alex and quickly intervened.

"Your dad's still in the police station. If you divorce Sharon now, it'll be harder to get her to back down later. Right now, she's still your wife. Even if your dad gets convicted, we can get a lighter sentence with a letter of understanding. Divorce her now, and things will get worse."

Alex looked grim. "Sharon has evidence of me and Dad conspiring to kidnap her. If I don't go, she'll hand it over to the police."

Clara frowned, anger flashing in her eyes. "That witch Sharon came prepared! But you can't divorce her now. Who knows what she'll do to the Smith family."

"Mom, you can't seriously think that just because I refuse to divorce her, she'll let the Smith family off the hook, right?"

Sharon sending David in showed she was ready to turn against the Smith family.

After this, Tyler and Sandra would never accept Sharon again. Staying with her would only disappoint them more, making it impossible for him to take over the Smith group.

Clara's face turned livid, but as long as Sharon had the evidence, she was helpless.

And from Seb's previous attitude at the Smith Mansion, he would probably support Sharon!

The more Clara thought about it, the more she hated Sharon.

They should never have let Sharon marry into the family. Now the Smith family was in chaos!

"Then don't give her a single penny. Make sure she leaves with nothing!"

Alex sneered, "She hasn't worked these past few years and hasn't had any kids. No way I'm giving her any money."

"As long as you know what you're doing."

The next morning came quickly, and Alex was punctual, arriving at ten.

He sat in a wheelchair, with Ava pushing him.

Seeing Sharon, anger and hatred flashed in Alex's eyes.

Thinking about how Sharon got David arrested and then threatened him for the divorce, Alex wanted to strangle her.

Compared to his agitation, Sharon was much calmer.

She no longer had any feelings for Alex and just wanted to cut ties.

Sharon handed Alex the divorce agreement she had prepared. "Sign this, and we can complete the procedures."

Alex flipped through a few pages, feeling a sense of déjà vu. He remembered this divorce agreement was identical to the one she gave him when she first discovered his affair.

He turned to the property division section and saw Sharon wanted half of his assets. His eyes turned cold.

"I won't sign this. If you want a divorce, you leave with nothing, or I won't agree."

Sharon calmly handed him another document. "Look at this and then decide."

Alex took it and his face turned ugly after just reading the first page.

It contained evidence of shady things he had done at the Smith group over the years.

Alex wondered, 'How did she get this?'

He looked at Sharon, eyes filled with murderous intent.

So Sharon had been guarding against him all these years!

Sharon smiled and said slowly, "Don't worry, as long as you sign, I'll give you the original."

"How can I trust you're telling the truth?"

Alex had been deceived by Sharon too many times recently.

Now she said she'd give him the original, but who knew if she had made a copy and hidden it somewhere.

"There's no benefit for me in mutual destruction, and I can't go against the Smith family. Dealing with your dad was because he caused the Wright family to go bankrupt. As for you, apart from cheating, you haven't really hurt me. I just want to divorce you and cut ties."

Seeing the seriousness on Sharon's face, Alex sneered, "You better not play any tricks. I won't show you any mercy again."

"Don't worry, I won't."

Seeing Alex ready to sign, Ava behind him looked dissatisfied and said, "Alex, do you really believe her? What if she tricks you again?"

Alex didn't pause as he signed his name, completely ignoring Ava, and then threw the document to Sharon.

"Can we get divorced now?"

The one who refused to divorce initially was Alex, and now the one eager to divorce was also him.

After confirming the signature was correct, Sharon threw a USB flash drive into Alex's lap and walked directly into the Vital Records Office.

In less than an hour, the divorce was finalized.

Sharon looked at the divorce certificate, her eyes slightly red. She never thought this day would come when she married Alex. The past eight years felt like a dream. But now, she was free from Alex.

Next to her, Alex saw Sharon's relieved expression and felt a surge of anger. He turned to Ava, "Did you bring your documents?"

Ava was momentarily stunned, then her eyes lit up with joy. "I did!"

"Give them to me. We're getting married now."

Ava quickly handed over her documents, thrilled. She had been waiting for this day. Knowing Alex was divorcing Sharon today, she had prepared her documents, hoping to use their child to push Alex into marriage. She didn't expect him to propose on his own.

Alex took her documents without any expression and handed them to the staff along with his own. "Marriage certificate!"

The staff hesitated but advised, "Sir, marriage is a serious matter. You just got divorced; you should reconsider."

Ava snapped, "What does our marriage have to do with you? Just do your job! Besides, I'm pregnant with his child. Do you want my child to be born without a father?"

The staff looked at Ava with disdain but processed the marriage certificate.

Alex glared at Sharon, "You may not care, but others do. I don't need you."

Sharon smiled, "Well, I wish you both a long and happy marriage."

Ignoring Alex's scowl, Sharon put the divorce certificate in her bag and left. Today was her day of rebirth, and she wouldn't let Ava and Alex ruin it.

Leaving the Vital Records Office, Sharon went straight to a top law firm in Metropolis and found Mark Hernandez, a lawyer specializing in divorce cases. She handed him the divorce agreement.

They talked for over an hour, and Mark personally escorted Sharon out.

"Mr. Hernandez, I'll leave the property division to you."

"Ms. Wright, don't worry, I'll handle the property division as quickly as possible."

After leaving the firm, Sharon was about to go home when she got a call from Karen.

"Sharon, come to the hospital quickly. Your mother-in-law brought people to the ward, saying you sent your father-in-law to jail. Your dad fainted from anger!"

Sharon's face changed, "I'll be right there!"

She arrived at the hospital over an hour later. The ward was a mess—broken glass, toiletries, and fruit scattered everywhere. Robert lay on the bed with his eyes closed, while Karen sat beside him, her eyes red from crying.

Seeing Sharon, Karen's eyes flashed with dissatisfaction. "Sharon, what is going on? Why did the Smith family send people to cause trouble?"

"How is my dad?"

"He fainted from anger. The doctor said it would be a while before he wakes up. What exactly did you do?"

Sharon explained briefly what she had done recently. Karen's face turned ugly, and she couldn't hold back her anger. "Why did you do this? What if the Smith family retaliates? We couldn't handle it today!"

Sharon bit her lip and lowered her eyes. "I didn't think it through. I'll find someone to protect you and Dad."

"Protect us? Do you think you alone can be more powerful than the Smith family? You've completely offended them now, and you've divorced Alex. They won't let you go, and they won't let us go either!"

Karen was agitated, her eyes filled with anger. "Why didn't you discuss this with us? Our lives had just returned to peace. What right do you have to make decisions for your dad?"

"Even if you got your father-in-law sent to jail, no one would think you're impressive. People would just mock the Wright family for raising a daughter like you!"

Robert's angry voice suddenly came from the bed. "Enough, stop talking!"
