Chapter 105 This Is Not Your Fault

"Got it!" Paul responded.

He then turned to Seb, hesitant to speak. "Anything else?" Seb asked.

"Nothing important. Just Ms. Wright's birthday is coming up. Should we get her a gift?"

Seb frowned, clearly annoyed. "Why should I care about her birthday?"

Paul quickly shook his head. "No reason."

"In the future, don't tell me anything about her. Officially, she's just an employee from MedicaCare International Pharmaceuticals. Personally, she's my niece-in-law. We need to keep our distance."

Paul lowered his head. "Understood, Mr. Smith."

Emily stormed home, fuming. After learning Sharon wouldn't help, Stanley scolded her and told her to keep asking until Sharon agreed.

Emily was livid. Given Sharon's attitude this morning, asking a hundred times wouldn't change her mind.

While sulking, she got a call from Rebecca.

After hearing about Emily's rough morning, Rebecca invited her out for some shopping to cheer her up.

Seeing Rebecca, Emily started to vent.

Rebecca listened and then said sympathetically, "It's obvious Sharon's holding a grudge about the party. I didn't think she'd be so petty."

Emily gritted her teeth. "Having to beg her makes me sick."

"Isn't Daniel willing to help you?"

Even though BioTech Innovations Group took a hit, Daniel had the Thomas family backing him. If he went home, the problems BioTech Innovations Group and the Young group faced could be solved.

At the mention of Daniel, Emily's face fell. "Don't even bring him up. He's been avoiding me lately. It's probably that bitch Sophie saying something to him!"

Thinking about how Daniel said he only saw her as a sister now made Emily seethe with anger. Who knew what Sophie had done to him? He actually wanted to marry that bitch!

Rebecca narrowed her eyes. "Aren't you planning to win him back? Are you just going to watch him be with Sophie?"

"Of course not, but the Young group is in a critical situation right now. I can't go looking for him every day."

Rebecca sighed. "You're jumping the gun. If you and Daniel are together, the Thomas group will cooperate with the Young group out of respect for him. The Thomas group is no less than the Smith group."

When Emily heard this, her eyes lit up. Right, if she could win Daniel over, she would also win over the Thomas family behind him.

Seeing Emily taking her words to heart, Rebecca continued, "Your priority now is to get Sophie away from Daniel, not to beg Sharon."

Emily nodded. "Rebecca, you're right. I know what to do now!"

A week flew by, and soon, it was Sharon's birthday.

Just after arriving at work in the morning, she received a message from Sophie.

[Come to Room 302 on the third floor at Seaview Hotel after work. I have a surprise for you.]

Sharon couldn't help but smile and replied: [Okay.]

As evening approached and work was almost over, Alex transferred $143 million with an apology text: [Sharon, I'm sorry, I can't make it back. I've asked my assistant to deliver the cake and gift to your house. Happy birthday!]

Sharon's expression remained indifferent. She didn't reply or accept the money.

After cleaning the lab equipment, Sharon changed out of her lab coat and left the company.

She received a call from Sophie halfway there, asking how much longer she would be.

"There's a bit of traffic. It might take another half an hour."

"Okay, I'll wait for you."

Rushing as fast as she could, the taxi finally arrived at the hotel just before seven.

Sharon paid the fare and got out, ready to head inside, when suddenly a dark figure fell from above, landing right in front of her.

Sharon was stunned. When she saw it was Sophie, her eyes widended.

"Sophie!" Sharon shouted, running towards her. In her panic, she tripped and fell beside her.

Sophie's eyes were closed. Her clothes were torn and tattered, with slap marks on her face.

Seeing blood seeping out from Sophie, Sharon finally remembered to call for an ambulance. With trembling hands, she took out her phone and, after several attempts, managed to dial correctly.

As soon as the call connected, she frantically said someone had fallen from a building. It wasn't until the other side asked for the location that she choked out the address.

After hanging up, Sharon didn't dare touch Sophie. She kept trembling, tears streaming down her face.

Sophie had come here to celebrate her birthday. If something happened to Sophie, she would never forgive herself.

On the roadside, a black Maybach stopped at a traffic light.

Seeing the crowd gathered by the hotel, Paul looked over curiously and suddenly frowned.

"Mr. Smith, the person in the middle of the crowd looks like Ms. Wright."

As soon as he finished speaking, he heard the car door open.

Paul turned around in surprise to see Seb quickly crossing the street towards the hotel.

For the first time, Sharon felt time pass so slowly. With each ticking second, she felt Sophie's breathing grow weaker.

In a daze, she felt like she was back six years ago when Robert Pharmaceuticals went bankrupt, and Robert collapsed in front of her, coughing up blood.

A piercing ringing filled her ears. Sharon covered her ears, her already pale face now almost bloodless.

"Sharon! Sharon!"

A deep voice pulled her back from the darkness. Sharon looked up blankly, her vision slowly focusing.

Seeing Seb, she quickly grabbed his hand.

"Mr. Smith, can you help me? Sophie fell from the building. I called an ambulance, but it hasn't arrived yet."

Seb frowned. "Alright, don't worry. I'll handle it."

Less than five minutes after he made a call, the ambulance arrived.

After assessing Sophie's condition, the doctor immediately had the nurse lift her onto a stretcher and take her to the ambulance.

In the ambulance, Sharon tremulously asked the doctor about Sophie's condition. The doctor, with a grave expression, said, "She needs surgery. We can't be sure yet."

At the nearest hospital, Sophie was immediately taken into surgery.

Watching Sharon stare intently at the operating room, Seb pulled her aside to sit down and said softly, "Don't worry, she'll be fine."

Sharon covered her face, tears streaming through her fingers.

"It's all my fault. If it weren't for my birthday, she wouldn't have fallen."

Seeing Sharon's distress, Seb took her hands away from her face, forcing her to look at him. "This isn't your fault. No one wanted this to happen. I'll have someone find out what really happened."

Sophie was an adult; she wouldn't just fall from a building without a reason.

Either someone pushed her, or the situation was so dangerous that she had no choice but to jump.

But in either case, Sophie's fall wasn't an accident.

"Right, call the police."

Sharon shakily reached for her phone, but before she could open it, a large hand grabbed her wrist.

"I'll handle it. You need to stay calm. Don't be afraid, Sophie will be okay."

When Sharon looked into Seb's calm eyes, her frantic heart gradually settled.

"I understand. Thank you."

Seeing Sharon more composed, Seb let go and walked aside to call Paul, asking him to check the hotel's surveillance to see what happened before Sophie fell.

Soon, Paul called back.

"Mr. Smith, an hour before Ms. Lee fell, the hotel's surveillance went down. We couldn't find anything."
