Chapter 617 Randy Can't Possibly Like You
Sophie asked, "How's your mom doing now?"
Saul replied, "She's stable. Sophie, I need to ask you something."
Sophie was taken aback. "What is it?"
There was a brief silence on the other end before Saul spoke again. "Never mind, it's not important. Get some rest. Good night."
Before Sophie could respond, the call ended.
She put down her phone, deciding to invite Saul out for dinner in a couple of days to clear things up.
After the surgery, Electra was unconscious for a full day and night before she finally woke up.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Delbert sitting by her bedside.
"Electra! You're awake!"
Delbert's eyes were filled with relief. He quickly pressed the call button to summon the doctor.
Once it was confirmed that Electra was out of danger, Delbert finally relaxed.
"Electra, do you have any idea what I went through while you were unconscious? Don't ever do something so foolish again. Randy isn't worth it!"
With Delbert's help, Electra sat up, her face pale. "Did Randy come to see me?"
Delbert's expression turned cold. "I called him several times during your surgery. Not only did he not come, but he was also busy flirting with Sophie."
Electra's eyes dimmed, and she stared at the blanket in silence.
Seeing her sadness, Delbert frowned and hesitated before speaking softly. "Electra, after what happened, you should realize that Randy will never love you. Maybe it's time to let him go."
After a long pause, Electra looked up at Delbert.
"Delbert, I understand. Thank you for coming to see me. I thought you wouldn't want anything to do with me after knowing how awful I am."
Delbert's eyes flickered. Initially, he had indeed decided to cut ties with Electra. But when he heard about her suicide attempt, he couldn't help but rush to the hospital, praying for her survival during the surgery.
At that moment, he realized he loved Electra, both her good and her dark sides.
Delbert knew she wasn't a good person, perhaps even a bad one, but he couldn't stop loving her. The only thing he could do was prevent her from sinking deeper into her darkness.
After spending some time with Electra at the hospital, she urged him to go home and rest.
"But if I leave, no one will take care of you."
Electra smiled. "I'll call my dad. He'll send someone to take care of me. Don't worry. You should go rest. If you looked in the mirror, you'd see how exhausted you are."
Delbert hadn't slept much during the time she was unconscious. Now that she was awake, he did feel tired.
"Alright, I'll go. Call me if you need anything."
"Okay."
Smiling, she watched Delbert leave. As soon as the door closed, her smile turned cold.
She picked up her phone and saw several missed calls from Saul. With a sneer, she called him back.
The call was quickly answered, and Saul's angry voice came through. "Electra, you promised to pay my mom's medical bills, but you didn't. Transfer the money now, or I'll post everything you made me do online."
Electra frowned. "What are you talking about? I told my assistant to pay the bills."
"If it was paid, why was my mom kicked out of her room last night?"
Electra's expression turned icy. "More importantly, what progress have you made besides taking a few intimate photos with Sophie?"
"What more do you want?"
Electra smiled slightly. "I want photos that can ruin Sophie's reputation. You know what to do."
"Transfer the $1.5 million for the medical bills first, or I won't do anything else for you!"
Electra laughed disdainfully. "Saul, do you think I can't have your mom kicked out of the hospital?"
"Of course, I believe you. But if you do, I'll expose everything you made me do. Randy will never like you then."
"You!"
Electra gritted her teeth, her face grim.
After a long pause, she spoke coldly. "Fine, I'll contact my assistant now. He'll transfer the money to your account."
She hung up and called her assistant. "Why didn't you pay Winifred's medical bills? Saul said it wasn't paid."
"Ms. Ross, I'm sorry. I've been busy and forgot. I'll do it now."
"No, transfer the money to Saul directly."
"Yes, Ms. Ross. I'll do it right away."
On the other end, Saul soon received a notification of the $1.5 million deposit.
He lowered his eyes and sent Sophie a message, asking her out for dinner, planning to give her the money then.
Sophie was busy all morning and saw Saul's message around noon.
After thinking for a moment, she replied.
[Sorry, I have plans tonight. Maybe another time.]
Saul quickly responded with an "Okay."
Around 5 PM, Randy was waiting for Sophie outside the Lee Group building when he received a call from Geraldo.
"Randy, do you have time tonight? Let's have dinner with Valentin and Delbert."
Randy rested one hand on the steering wheel and held his phone with the other. "No, you guys go ahead. I have plans."
"Randy, you and Delbert were too impulsive last night. You've been friends for so many years. Are you going to let a small issue ruin that?"
Randy chuckled. "You should be talking to Delbert, not me. He should stop meddling and pushing me to see Electra."
"I'll talk to Delbert. Are you sure you can't come?"
"I already said I have plans. I have to go."
He hung up and got out of the car, walking towards Sophie.
"Sophie."
Sophie approached him. "Have you been waiting long?"
"No, I just got here."
They got in the car, and Randy drove to Sophie's favorite restaurant.
After parking, Sophie got out while Randy went to the parking lot.
While waiting for Randy, Sophie received a call from Sharon.
"Sophie, we're about to board the plane. Do you want anything from our trip?"
"I want a handsome guy."
Sharon laughed. "I can't bring that back. Think of something else."
"Just kidding. I don't need anything specific. I'll be happy with whatever you bring."
"Alright, we're about to board. Talk to you later."
"Okay, have a great trip."
Sharon hung up and looked at Seb and Demetrius beside her, feeling happy.
She had always dreamed of traveling with her family, and now that dream was coming true.
Meanwhile, Sophie and Randy entered the restaurant.
As soon as they sat down, a waiter brought two glasses of water.
"Good evening, sir, miss…"
Before the last word could escape his lips, the smile on the waiter's face froze.
Sophie hadn't expected to run into Saul here. A look of confusion flashed in her eyes, and just as she was about to ask him something, he regained his previous smile.
"Good evening, sir, miss. What can I get for you tonight? Our salmon and sea urchin are very fresh today."
Randy raised an eyebrow, a hint of mockery in his eyes.
"We'll have what you recommend. And add an order of Arctic shrimp sashimi."
"Sure, sir. Anything else?"
Randy looked at Sophie. "Sophie, do you want to add anything?"
Sophie closed the menu and said calmly, "No, that's enough."
"Alright."
After confirming their order, Saul left with the menu, his grip tightening and his face turning grim as he turned away.
Throughout dinner, Sophie seemed distracted.
Noticing this, Randy asked softly, "Sophie, is the food not good?"
Sophie snapped out of her thoughts and shook her head. "No, I'm just tired today."
Randy nodded. "I'll take you home after dinner."
"Okay."
Sophie put down her fork and glanced at Saul, standing not far away, her expression complicated.
Sensing her gaze, Saul turned to look at her.
Their eyes met, and Sophie bit her lip, about to look away, when Saul lowered his head first.
Sophie felt a pang of guilt. She should have talked to him sooner.
Randy noticed her reaction, his face grim.
Although Sophie had agreed to give him another chance, he could tell she wasn't as enthusiastic as before. Their relationship felt fragile, like walking on a tightrope.
He couldn't afford any mistakes.
After dinner, Randy handed his card to Saul. "Check, please."
Sophie frowned. "We can go to the counter ourselves."
Randy looked at her, frowning. "Sophie, we always have the staff handle it. Just because it's Saul, you don't want to?"
Before Sophie could respond, Saul took the card and said, "Mr. Smith, please wait a moment."
After processing the payment, Saul returned the card to Randy.
"Sir, your card."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
Randy took the card and turned to Sophie. "Sophie, let's go."
Sophie looked at Saul, at a loss for words.
Thinking it wasn't the right time to talk, she left with Randy.
Outside the restaurant, Randy looked at Sophie, his tone serious. "Sophie, about Saul..."
