Chapter 128 A Matter of Course

Seb's eyes narrowed. Clearly, Alex didn't want to go back to the Smith group.

"I'm in a meeting. I'll explain tonight."

Since Sharon and Alex weren't divorced yet, Seb didn't want the Smith family to know about his feelings for Sharon. They'd think Sharon seduced him.

Tyler hung up without another word.

Seb called Paul over and whispered, "Find out where Alex is. Bring him to me after the meeting."

The meeting dragged on for over two hours. When Seb finally ended it, the managers sighed in relief.

Back in his office, Seb saw Alex on the sofa. Seb's gaze turned icy.

He sat across from Alex and said coldly, "No matter what you tell Tyler, I'm not giving up on Sharon."

Alex smirked. "Uncle Seb, whether you give up or not doesn't matter. I'm not divorcing her, and you'll never be with her."

Seb's eyes darkened. "The divorce isn't up to you."

Alex mocked. "If not me, then who? I've been kicked out of the Smith group, so you can't threaten me with that. What else can you do to make me divorce her?"

Not only would he not divorce Sharon, but he'd also get close to her in front of Seb just to torment him.

"Your actions just show Sharon was blind before."

Alex's face changed, but he sneered. "Uncle Seb, provoking me won't work. As long as I'm breathing, you won't be with her!"

With that, Alex left.

After the door slammed shut, Seb walked to his desk, opened a drawer, and took out a document.

After a moment, Seb dialed a number.

In the evening, Sophie arrived at the restaurant. She couldn't believe Seb had asked to meet her.

"Uncle Seb, I mean, Mr. Smith, what do you need?"

Seb pushed a document to Sophie. "Give this to Sharon. She'll know what to do."

Sophie looked surprised. "Mr. Smith, Sharon works at Silvercrest Group now. Wouldn't it be easier to give it to her directly?"

Seb nodded. "Yes, but I have my reasons. Please keep this confidential."

"Why?"

Sophie was curious.

"Ms. Lee, I can't explain. If Sharon wants to tell you, she will. If you help me, I owe you a favor."

Sophie picked up the document and smiled. "No need for a favor. When I was unconscious after jumping from the hotel, you took me to the hospital and found out Emily did it. Consider this repaying that favor."

"Thank you, Ms. Lee."

"But if Sharon asks where it came from, what should I say?"

"Just tell her it was sent by someone named Brian."

If Brian hadn't gone MIA, Seb wouldn't have contacted Sophie.

"Got it."

Sophie didn't plan to stay for dinner with Seb since they weren't close.

"If that's all, I'll head out."

Seb looked serious. "Ms. Lee, please keep this confidential. I don't want anyone knowing I gave you this document."

"Don't worry, I'll keep quiet."

After leaving the restaurant, Sophie went straight to Sharon's house.

Seeing Sophie, Sharon was pleasantly surprised. "Sophie, what brings you here?"

Sophie smiled. "I missed you. Let me in first."

Sharon stepped aside, and once they were in the living room, Sophie handed her the document.

Sharon looked puzzled. "What's this?"

After reading a few lines, Sharon's expression changed.

"Sophie, how did you get this?"

Sophie casually replied, "Someone named Brian sent it to me and asked me to give it to you. Do you know him? What's in it?"

Sophie tried to peek, but Sharon quickly closed the document. "You haven't read this?"

Seeing Sharon's serious expression, Sophie shook her head. "No, but why so secretive? Is it confidential?"

Sharon took a deep breath. "Sophie, I can't tell you right now. I'll explain when the time is right."

Sophie, not one to pry, didn't mind. "Alright, I have something to do later. I'll visit you next time."

"Okay, I'll see you out."

At the door, Sharon looked at Sophie gratefully. "Sophie, thank you. This document is very important to me."

Sophie smiled. "No need to be so polite. I'm leaving."

After Sophie left, Sharon tried calling Brian, but his phone was off. She also messaged him on Facebook but got no reply.

Sharon guessed Brian might be in trouble, so she transferred some money to him and expressed her gratitude. Then she opened the document and started reading.

The document contained evidence of David and Ted conspiring against Robert Pharmaceuticals, along with other crimes.

The more Sharon read, the more she frowned, not noticing the slight sound of the lock turning at the door.

She only turned around when she heard soft footsteps. Seeing Alex, her face turned pale.

Sharon instinctively closed the document and glared at Alex. "What are you doing here?"

Seeing her reach for her phone, Alex said slowly, "Sharon, calling Seb or the police won't help. I'm your husband; I have every right to be here."

Sharon ignored him and grabbed her phone to unlock it.

But Alex was faster. As soon as she unlocked it, he snatched the phone from her.

Sharon reached out to grab the phone back, and the document fell to the ground. As it opened, Alex looked down.
