Chapter 358 You Can't Give Me What I Want

Sophie looked down, fiddling with her nails, not saying a word.

While she stayed quiet, Randy and Amara strolled up to them.

Dwayne grinned at Randy, "Hey Randy, I didn't expect to see you and Ms. Farley here on a date. If I'd known, we could've all come together."

Sophie thought to herself, 'Is Dwayne nuts? Who goes on a date with four people? That's just weird!'

Randy glanced at Sophie, who was still looking down, and said coolly, "Amara's pretty shy. Too many people might make her uncomfortable. We have matters to attend to, so we will take our leave first."

Sophie swallowed the bitterness rising in her throat. Randy had just started dating, and he was already calling her "Amara." He seemed pretty happy with her.

Dwayne nodded. "Alright, another time then."

Randy didn't say anything else and left with Amara.

When Sophie looked up again, all she saw were their backs as they walked out of the restaurant.

Dwayne, completely missing her frustration, smiled and said, "Randy and Ms. Farley make a great couple. With how protective Randy was, we might be going to their wedding soon."

Sophie forced a smile. "Really?"

"Yeah, you didn't see how Randy was looking out for Ms. Farley just now..." Dwayne started.

Sophie cut him off, "Mr. Carr, let's talk about something else. It's not cool to gossip about other people's relationships."

Dwayne apologized with a smile, "Sorry, Randy's my good friend, so I couldn't help it."

Sophie didn't call him out and said, "I get it."

He knew Randy had chased her for five years, and now he was rubbing Randy and Amara in her face, reminding her Randy was moving on.

After that, Dwayne didn't bring up Randy again and talked about his travels instead.

Since Dwayne had work in the afternoon, he and Sophie parted ways at the restaurant entrance after lunch.

As soon as Sophie turned around, her smile vanished, and she felt drained. Faking a smile in front of someone she didn't like was really exhausting. The thought of living like this forever made her feel hopeless.

When she got to the parking lot and unlocked her car, a cold voice came from behind her. "Is Dwayne your type?"

Sophie turned around and saw Randy standing a few steps away, his face cold. His eyes were locked on her, like he was demanding an answer.

Sophie's hand, gripping the keys, turned slightly white. She looked away and said flatly, "That's none of your business. I remember you said you wouldn't..."

Before she could finish, Randy took two steps forward and grabbed her waist.

Sophie was stunned for a moment, her face flashing with anger. "Let go of me!"

But before she could finish, Randy pressed her against the car. With the cold car door behind her and Randy's face so close, Sophie felt a surge of panic.

"Randy, what are you doing? Are you..." Sophie started.

Before she could finish, he kissed her. Sophie's eyes widened in anger. She wanted to fight back, but Randy held her tight, giving her no chance to escape. The cool mint scent mixed with a hint of tobacco from him was intoxicating, pulling her into a whirlpool. Randy's kiss was fierce and urgent, like he was venting days of pent-up frustration. The moment he saw Sophie, he just wanted to kiss her.

Realizing she couldn't break free, Sophie bit down hard on Randy's lip. Randy grunted but didn't let go. Instead, he kissed her even more fiercely. It wasn't until Sophie felt like she was about to pass out from lack of oxygen that Randy finally released her. He looked at her swollen lips, his eyes growing darker.

Sophie finally caught her breath and raised her hand to slap Randy, but he caught her wrist. He pressed his forehead against hers and said in a low voice, "Sophie, in these five years, have you never felt anything for me, not even once?"

Sophie bit her lip and said coldly, "Randy, do you know what you're doing right now? Since we've both chosen to go on blind dates, shouldn't we stay out of each other's way?"

"But I can't stand seeing you with other men," Randy replied, his voice filled with frustration.

Sophie took a deep breath, pushed against his chest, and looked up at him seriously. "We're not right for each other," she said.

"Why not? In what way are we not right?" Randy demanded, his grip tightening on her wrist.

"We want different things. You can't give me what I want," Sophie stated firmly.

Randy chuckled, a hint of bitterness in his laughter. "How do you know that if you don't even say it? How do you know I can't give it to you?" he asked.

After a few seconds of silence, Sophie slowly said, "I'm thirty now. I'm not interested in dating anymore. I just want to find someone to marry, and someone who can help the Lee Group out of the crisis."

Randy's hand suddenly loosened, and he unconsciously took two steps back. Seeing him in such a state, Sophie felt a chill in her heart. When she said those words just now, she had a moment of expectation, hoping Randy would agree. But now, she was disappointed.

She pressed her lips together, said nothing more, didn't look at Randy, and got into her car and drove away.

After Sophie's car disappeared from sight, Randy stood there for a long time before turning to leave.

In the following days, Sophie went on a few dates with Dwayne, but she always seemed a bit distracted.

Soon, it was Saturday. Demetrius woke up excitedly at around six in the morning. He got up, dressed, and washed up, then sat obediently in the living room waiting for Sharon to wake up.

Sharon got up around seven and was surprised to see him sitting on the couch in the living room. "Demetrius, what time did you get up?" she asked.

"Six-thirty," Demetrius replied.

Sharon couldn't help but smile. "Is it because we're going to the zoo today that you're so excited you can't sleep?" she asked.

Demetrius nodded and said enthusiastically, "Yes!"

"I'll go make breakfast first. Mr. Cook will come over later, and after breakfast, we'll head out," Sharon said.

"Okay," Demetrius replied, his excitement palpable.

While Sharon was making breakfast, Zachary arrived. He went to the kitchen to help Sharon, and with his assistance, breakfast was ready quickly.

During breakfast, Sharon noticed the dark circles under Zachary's eyes and asked, "Have you been very busy these days? You have dark circles under your eyes."

Zachary's eyes darkened, and he said in a low voice, "There was a problem at headquarters, but it's been resolved."

Sharon felt a bit sorry for him. "If you're too tired, you can rest at home today and join us next time," she suggested.

Zachary shook his head. "It's fine. I already promised Demetrius. It's not good to back out at the last minute. Besides, going to the zoo won't be too tiring," he insisted.

Seeing his determination, Sharon agreed. "If you feel tired later, let me know. Don't push yourself," she said.

A hint of tenderness flashed in Zachary's eyes. "Okay," he replied softly.

After breakfast, they set off for the zoo. By the time they arrived at the zoo, it was almost nine o'clock, and Seb was already waiting at the entrance.

Seb's face grew cold as he saw three figures approaching from afar. He was baffled by Paul's incompetence—how could Zachary still show up here today?
