Chapter 383 You Are The Most Important
Seeing Demetrius eyeing him suspiciously, Seb cleared his throat, trying to mask his guilt.
"What are you talking about? I'm just worn out from work today. It's getting late. Let's tidy up the toys, and go to rest," Seb said.
"Okay," Demetrius replied.
They cleaned up the toys together. Seb then asked Dana to take Demetrius upstairs for his bath while he headed to the study.
Sitting down, Seb picked up a document, but Sharon's words kept flashing through his mind, making him restless.
He had a feeling Sharon might have caught onto his lie, but he wasn't sure.
After mulling it over, Seb figured that hiding it wouldn't work for long. It'd be better to gauge Sharon's feelings about Robert in the morning.
If Sharon wanted to see Robert too, Seb would come clean. If she still had reservations about Robert, he'd wait until Robert's health improved before breaking the news.
Upstairs, in Sharon's bedroom.
Sharon lay in bed after her bath, her hair dry, but sleep eluded her.
She couldn't fathom why Seb would hide meeting his own niece from her.
If it was just a simple meeting, there was no need to hide it.
The more she thought about it, the more frustrated she became.
Just when she decided to give their relationship another chance, Seb started lying to her. Tonight, when Demetrius mentioned that his teacher taught them to be honest, it was a hint for Seb not to lie to her. She couldn't tell if Seb didn't get it or was just pretending not to.
Sharon picked up her phone and, after a moment of hesitation, sent a message to Sophie.
In a private room on the second floor of the Midnight Lounge, a phone in the corner of the sofa lit up, unnoticed by anyone.
The room was buzzing with noise, a dozen men and women playing truth or dare.
They were all well-known young heirs in Metropolis, gathered for some fun.
Among them, Sophie felt slightly out of place; she was brought over by Dwayne.
The bottle seemed to land on Sophie every time, as if guided by bad luck or some unseen force.
"Truth or dare?" asked the person who spun the bottle.
Sophie frowned, recalling the embarrassing questions from truth, and decisively chose dare.
"Call the third male contact in your phone and confess your love," the person added.
Cheers erupted as soon as the words were spoken.
Sophie raised an eyebrow, got up, and walked to the corner of the sofa to pick up her phone.
Seeing Sharon's message, Sophie was surprised but didn't rush to reply. Instead, she opened her contact list.
To her surprise, the third male contact was Randy.
Seeing Sophie frown slightly, everyone watched her with curiosity.
"Why are you hesitating? Is he your ex-boyfriend?"
"What nonsense are you talking about? Dwayne is right here!"
"Haha, put it on speaker. I can't wait to hear his response!"
Sophie bit her lip, hesitated for a moment, and then dialed the number. The phone rang for what felt like forever, and Sophie breathed a sigh of relief. She looked around at everyone, "He didn't answer, so how about we..."
But before she could finish, the call was picked up.
"Ms. Lee, why are you calling me so late? Is something wrong?"
A lot of people in the room recognized Randy's voice and exchanged knowing glances. They all knew Randy had been after Sophie for five years.
Sophie took a deep breath and started, "Randy, I like..."
Suddenly, Dwayne's hand shot out and grabbed the phone, quickly ending the call.
Everyone turned their eyes to Dwayne, and someone couldn't help but tease.
"Dwayne, what are you doing?"
Dwayne smiled and looked at the speaker, "I don't want to see my girlfriend confessing to another guy. Is that a problem? I'll take her punishment."
He then picked up a full glass of wine from the table and downed it in one go, placing the glass back on the table.
"It's getting late, and Sophie has a curfew at home. We'll head out now. Put the drinks on my tab. Have fun, everyone."
It wasn't until they were outside the bar, with a cool breeze blowing, that Sophie snapped out of it.
"Dwayne, won't your friends be upset with you for what you did?"
Dwayne looked down at her, his expression softening in the dim light, "Compared to you, nothing else matters."
Sophie avoided his gaze and said softly, "It's late. Let's go home."
"I'll take you home."
"Okay."
On the way back, Sophie opened Facebook to reply to Sharon's message.
Sophie: [I don't know exactly what happened between you two, so I can't give you any advice. But I can assure you that Seb loves you very much and would never do anything to hurt you.]
Seeing this message, Sharon bit her lip.
Sharon knew Seb's feelings for her, but she couldn't get over the fact that he lied to her.
She forced herself to stop thinking about it, put down her phone, and tried to sleep.
It was a long time before Sharon finally fell asleep.
Meanwhile, as Dwayne's car pulled up to the entrance of The Lee Villa, they saw a thin figure standing at the gate.
Sophie blinked. On the way back, Randy had called her several times, but she had hung up each time. She didn't expect him to come to the Lee Villa to find her.
"Dwayne, thanks for bringing me back. You should go now."
Sophie unbuckled her seatbelt and was about to get out of the car when Dwayne also opened the driver's door and got out.
Seeing Sophie's puzzled look, he explained, "Randy came to find you because of that call earlier. I'll stay with you to explain."
Sophie frowned, thought for a moment, and then nodded, "Okay."
Dwayne walked over to Sophie and held her hand as they approached Randy who had seen them as soon as they got out of the car.
His gaze fell on their clasped hands, and his expression turned cold and piercing.
Sophie instinctively tried to pull her hand away, but Dwayne held on tighter.
Unable to break free, Sophie let Dwayne lead her to Randy.
"Randy, why are you looking for my girlfriend? Is there something you need?"
Randy looked at him coldly, "Dwayne, what does my business with Sophie have to do with you?"
