Chapter 449 It's Best to Let Them Solve It Themselves
After mulling it over for a bit, she decided to let it go for now, drew the curtains, and grabbed her pajamas for a shower.
The next morning, Sophie got up and went through her usual morning routine before making her way downstairs. To her surprise, she found Randy having breakfast with her dad in the dining room.
She hesitated for a second, then casually strolled over to the table and sat down. "What are you doing here?"
Randy grinned, "Sophie, your car's still at my place. I came to give you a ride to work."
Sophie shot back, "Didn't I say I'd have the driver pick it up from your place?"
Randy replied, "It'd be a hassle for you to be without a car this morning."
Sophie felt a twinge of annoyance. She could easily have the driver take her, or worst case, call a cab. How was it inconvenient? She didn't say anything more, but her face clearly showed her irritation.
Leonard sensed the tension and stood up. "I'm done eating. I'll head to the company first. Since Mr. Smith is here, let him take you to work today."
With that, Leonard quickly left. He didn't want to meddle too much in Sophie's love life; it was best to let them sort it out themselves.
Now it was just Sophie and Randy in the dining room. Sophie kept her head down, eating breakfast, acting like Randy wasn't even there.
Randy, unable to bear the tension any longer, broke the silence, "Sophie, do you not want to see me?"
Sophie stayed calm, "You already know the answer, so why ask?"
A flicker of hurt crossed Randy's eyes. After a few moments of silence, he spoke slowly, "Sophie, I know you're still mad. I wanted to give you the time you asked for, but I'm scared... scared that the longer it takes, the less you'll want to talk to me."
Seeing the worry in his eyes, Sophie pursed her lips. After a long pause, she finally said, "Randy, will you really keep your distance from Electra in the future?"
Noticing her slight change in attitude, Randy quickly said, "I promise, if it happens again, no matter how much I beg, you shouldn't forgive me. These past few days, all I could think about was how upset and sad you were. It felt like my heart was being roasted over a fire... Sophie, I don't want to fight with you anymore."
In the past, when he saw couples arguing on TV, Randy would scoff, thinking that things that could be resolved with a few words shouldn't lead to arguments. It seemed so childish.
It wasn't until he started dating Sophie and they had arguments, with Sophie ignoring him, that he realized how hard it was to endure.
Seeing his sincere expression, Sophie let out a soft sigh, "Alright, I forgive you."
Holding onto this grudge would only make both of them more miserable.
A hint of joy flashed in Randy's eyes. Just as he was about to speak, Sophie added, "But I won't give you a third chance. If I see you tangled up with another woman again, we're done."
Her tone was firm, and her eyes were serious as she looked at Randy.
Randy's face turned a bit pale, but he still nodded. "Alright, I promise you!"
Sophie put down her milk and stood up. "I'm done with breakfast. Let's go."
After dropping Sophie off at her company, Randy took a cab to his own office.
When the elevator reached the top floor, as soon as he stepped out, Theron approached him. "Mr. Smith... your Uncle Seb is here. He's waiting for you in the office."
A hint of confusion crossed Randy's face. Why would Seb come to see him so early?
Randy replied, "Got it."
Walking into the office, he went straight to sit across from Seb, "Uncle Seb, what brings you here so early?"
Seb asked, "Have the building materials that Perry sent over been put to use yet?"
