Chapter 536 What Did You Tell Seb?
Toby Rivera quickly lowered his head, his voice shaking with fear. "I'm sorry, sir... I didn't think it through."
"Your pay's getting docked this month. Screw up again, and you're out."
"Yes, sir."
"Why are these cars still here? You think I'm gonna move them myself?"
The man in the white suit spoke coldly, his gaze icy as he looked at Toby.
"I'll move them right away!"
The man turned to Sharon, his face showing a hint of guilt. "Ms. Roach, I apologize for my subordinate's rudeness. I hope you can forgive him."
Sharon stared at him coldly. "Cut the crap. Who are you, and why are you stopping me?"
Seeing the wariness in her eyes, the man chuckled softly. "Ms. Roach, I truly apologize. How about you step out of the car, and we find a quiet place to talk?"
"I'm not getting out. For all I know, you might be planning to kidnap me."
"If I wanted to kidnap you, I wouldn't have come here myself. You can relax, Ms. Roach, I won't harm you."
Sharon sneered, "Do you believe your own words? I still don't know who you are or what you want from me."
This guy looked dangerous. She'd be nuts to get out of the car.
For now, it seemed he didn't intend to kill her, or he wouldn't have come in person.
But no matter what, she wasn't getting out of the car.
As long as she stalled him, the chances of Seb noticing her absence would increase.
Once Seb realized he couldn't reach her, he would definitely send someone to find her.
The man raised an eyebrow and said, "Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Jesse Scott, Vice President of MK Group."
Hearing the name, Sharon's grip on the steering wheel tightened, her face paling slightly.
Seeing her reaction, Jesse couldn't help but smile. "Ms. Roach, you don't seem surprised to hear my name."
"Should I be?"
"Most people would be a bit curious when they hear a stranger's name."
"Sorry, I'm not most people. What do you want, Mr. Scott?"
Despite her cold demeanor, Jesse remained unbothered, still smiling.
"Ms. Roach, I'm here to tell you something about your mother. It's quite complicated and might take an hour or two to explain."
"Sorry, I have to pick up my kids. No time."
With that, Sharon started the car.
Jesse didn't stop her, smiling as he said, "Ms. Roach, we'll meet again soon."
Sharon ignored him and sped off.
Toby approached Jesse from behind. "Mr. Scott, shouldn't we stop her?"
Jesse shot him a cold look. "Idiot!"
Sharon had the potential to inherit the Stoll family. If they completely alienated her now, that path would be closed. He didn't want to remain under someone else's thumb.
Only by marrying Sharon could he enter the Stoll family and hope to control it.
But first, he had to deal with Seb.
"What's the update on Daniel?"
"This morning... he went to Silvercrest Group and hasn't come out since..."
Jesse's face darkened with anger. "Given his relationship with Seb, do you think he'd stay at Silvercrest Group that long? He's probably been escorted out by Seb's people already. Useless!"
Toby's face paled, and he quickly said, "I'll check right away!"
Back in the car, Jesse turned to his assistant, Anna Morgan. "Any updates on Alton?"
"Mr. Scott, Mr. Roach has been meeting clients these past few days. Besides that, he's been staying at the hotel, not doing much else."
"That's it?" Jesse's face grew somber. He had a feeling Alton's return was also related to Sharon.
After all, Jeremy wouldn't last much longer, and soon the Stoll family would be in turmoil.
"Yes, should we assign more people to monitor Mr. Roach?"
"No, if we have too many people, he'll notice."
"Understood, Mr. Scott. Are we heading back to the hotel?"
Jesse sneered, "No, we're going to the Thomas Villa."
Not long after arriving at the Thomas Villa, Toby returned with Daniel in tow.
Seeing Jesse lounging on the sofa, watching him leisurely, Daniel felt a surge of fear.
He had gambled and lost.
He thought that being in Metropolis, Seb could protect him for at least three days, giving him time to change his identity and escape. After that, no matter how powerful Jesse was, he wouldn't find him.
But now he realized how naive his thoughts and actions had been.
Seeing Daniel's fear, Jesse smiled, taking a sip of water from the table and grimacing. "The water here is quite unpalatable, but it's not Stellaria, so I'll have to make do."
Perhaps knowing Jesse wouldn't let him go, Daniel's courage grew.
"Mr. Scott, do what you want. I won't help you anymore! You can just kill me."
He'd had enough over the years. He'd rather see the Thomas Group go bankrupt than be Jesse's puppet any longer!
Jesse raised an eyebrow. "Who said I was going to kill you? Mr. Thomas, this is a lawful society. If I killed you, I'd go to jail."
Daniel sneered, "Then what do you want?"
"I just want to know what you told Seb."
"I told him everything, things I should and shouldn't have. If you want to know, ask him yourself."
Jesse spoke nonchalantly, "It's quicker to hear it from you than to ask him."
With a glance, Toby's men brought a woman into the living room.
Seeing Sophie, Daniel's pupils contracted, and he glared at Jesse with rage.
"If you harm her, I won't let you off!"
"Whether I harm her depends on whether you tell me the truth. If you cooperate, I might let you and the Thomas Group go. The Thomas Group is of no use to me anyway."
With a wave of his hand, he could make the Thomas Group collapse.
Its survival was entirely up to him.
Daniel's face darkened, and he gritted his teeth. "How do I know if you'll keep your word?"
If he told everything and Jesse went back on his word, he wouldn't stand a chance.
"You have no choice."
Only those with leverage could sit at the negotiating table.
Someone like Daniel didn't even have the right to speak to him as an equal.
Daniel's face turned ashen, his heart feeling like it was being fried in oil, tortured and in pain.
Suddenly, he thought of something and quickly looked up at Jesse. "You want to marry Sharon, right? Sophie is her best friend. If you harm her, Sharon will never forgive you, and you can forget about marrying her!"
