Chapter 376 It Was Her Idea to Pretend to Reconcile

"Got it," Sharon mumbled, her eyes dropping to the floor. Suddenly, she remembered the porridge simmering in the kitchen. She glanced up, ready to ask Seb if she could still have some, but found herself locked in his tender gaze.

For a moment, the living room was so quiet she could almost hear her own heartbeat racing.

After a few seconds of intense eye contact, Sharon snapped out of it and quickly looked away.

Seb's deep voice broke the silence, "Is something wrong?"

Sharon bit her lip and spoke softly, "I just wanted to ask if I can still have the porridge tonight."

"You can, but try to avoid the area around that blister."

"Okay, I'm fine now."

"I'll check again in the morning. If there's still swelling, I'll apply the ointment for you again."

As soon as Seb finished speaking, Sharon's mind flashed back to him applying the ointment earlier, and her face instantly heated up.

She didn't want to go through that again.

"Give me the ointment. I'll apply it myself in front of the mirror tomorrow."

"It's fine. You don't have to feel troubled. I have nothing to do tomorrow anyway."

Sharon fell silent.

Was that what she meant?

But since Seb wouldn't give her the ointment, she had no choice.

"I'll go check the porridge in the kitchen."

Without waiting for Seb's response, she turned and quickly walked away, her retreating figure exuding a sense of fleeing in haste.

Seb watched her back thoughtfully, his eyes dark and unreadable.

When Sharon finished cooking the porridge and came out, Seb had already gone to the study to work.

She served a bowl of porridge to cool and picked up her phone. Seeing a message from Ariana, she immediately dialed back.

The call connected quickly, and Ariana's slightly hoarse voice came through, "Sharon."

"Ariana, what's wrong? Did something happen? How much money do you need?"

Hearing the undisguised concern in Sharon's voice, Ariana felt her eyes redden, and she held back her tears, saying, "It's nothing. I just ran out of money this month. If possible, I'd like to borrow six hundred dollars. Is that okay?"

"Of course. I'll transfer it to you in a bit. If it's not enough, let me know."

"Sharon, thank you!"

"Don't mention it. It's just a small matter. If there's anything you can't handle, remember to tell me. Since you came to Metropolis to work with me, I'll take care of you until we return to Aidamore."

"Alright, it's getting late. Sharon, I won't bother you."

After hanging up, Sharon immediately transferred the money to Ariana.

She originally wanted to ask Ariana what had happened, but she changed her mind on second thought. If Ariana wanted to talk, she would tell her.

Meanwhile, in the study.

Seb was on the phone with Paul.

"Are you sure Terrence has no contact with Leo whatsoever?"

"Yes, Mr. Smith. I've checked everyone Terrence has interacted with over the past year. Not only has he had no contact with Mr. Wendy, but he also hasn't interacted with anyone around Mr. Wendy or from his company."

Seb's face darkened. He had a gut feeling that this matter was related to Leo, and he trusted his instincts.

"Alright, I understand."

After a moment of silence, Paul's cautious voice came through again, "Should we continue the investigation?"

"Report it to the police. Make sure Terrence has no chance to appear in front of Sharon again. Keep an eye on Leo as well."

"Understood. By the way, next week is Mr. Garry Bridges' birthday party. Mr. Wendy is likely to attend. Do you plan to send a gift or go in person?"

Garry Bridges was Leo's wife Ayla's grandfather. Ever since Leo married Ayla, he took over a gaming company under the Bridges Group.

In recent years, the company had churned out several hit games and made a strong comeback under Leo's leadership. Now, it was one of the most profitable subsidiaries of the Bridges Group.

Seb's voice was icy, "Prepare a gift. I'll go in person."

After hanging up, Seb set his phone down, his eyes turning cold. If Leo dared to mess with Sharon again, even with the Bridges family backing him, Seb wouldn't let it slide!

Now that their little family could finally live in peace, Seb wouldn't let anyone disrupt it!

The next morning, when Sharon got up to wash, she noticed the blister on her tongue from last night had mostly gone away. Although it was still a bit swollen, it seemed it would be fully healed in a couple of days.

Descending the stairs, she caught sight of Seb at the breakfast table. Hearing her soft footsteps, he looked over, and their eyes met.

Sharon smiled awkwardly, "Morning."

"Morning. How's your tongue?"

Afraid he might insist on applying the ointment himself, Sharon quickly said, "It's fine now. No need for the ointment."

Seb's lips curved slightly, "Are you afraid of me applying the ointment?"

"No, I'm just telling you that my tongue is really fine now. No need to trouble you," Sharon insisted.

"I thought you might be shy or something."

"Of course not!"

"Good."

He looked at her as if he could see right through her. Sharon lowered her gaze and sat down across from him.

Demetrius had already finished breakfast and gone to school, leaving just the two of them at the table, making the atmosphere a bit quiet.

After breakfast, Seb and Sharon headed to work together. They didn't talk much on the way.

As they approached the company building, Seb put down his documents and looked at Sharon, "Do you have plans for next Friday?"

"No, what's up?"

"Can you come with me to a party?"

Sharon frowned, "What kind of party?"

Sharon had never been one for parties. The artificial smiles and masked intentions often left her feeling disenchanted, like an outsider observing a carefully choreographed charade.

Luckily, she didn't need to do business and didn't have to attend such events often.

"Mr. Garry Bridges' birthday party. I need a date, and since everyone knows we've reconciled, it wouldn't be appropriate to take someone else."

The reason was valid, and Sharon couldn't refuse, especially since she was the one who suggested they pretend to reconcile.

"Alright, what should I wear?"

"Don't worry about the clothes. I'll take care of it."

Sharon nodded and said no more.

Soon, the car stopped in the Silvercrest Group's underground parking lot, and Sharon got out with Seb.

After coming to work together for a few days, the employees of Silvercrest Group were no longer surprised, though they still gossiped about when Seb would get tired of Sharon and dump her.

To them, Seb was a top-notch bachelor, and Sharon was just a small-time pharmaceutical researcher, making them seem mismatched.

While waiting for the elevator, several female employees secretly glanced at Sharon.

Some were jealous, some envious, and some curious.

Fortunately, Sharon was used to being stared at and didn't mind.

Seb looked down at her and said softly, "I might have a meeting at noon and won't have time to eat with you. Just go to my office, and Paul will bring the food."

"No need. Since you're busy today, I'll eat in the cafeteria. I haven't had cafeteria food in a few days and kind of miss it."
