Chapter 485 Jerold Is Her Biological Son
Jerold was terrified by Leo's stern expression and hid behind Karen, peeking out with frightened eyes.
Leo didn't even glance at him and called for a servant. "You and the driver will take him back to the Bridges Villa later."
The servant nodded. "Yes, sir."
As she turned to take Jerold away, Karen suddenly pulled him behind her and snapped, "Leo, can't you see Jerold is already scared?"
Leo finally looked up at her, his eyes cold and unfeeling. "Weren't you the one who brought him here, hoping I'd let him see Ayla? Now that I agreed, what more do you want?"
Karen's face stiffened, but she quickly recovered. "I brought him because he was crying so pitifully, not to send him back to Ayla."
She wasn't stupid. It was clear that Jerold staying with Leo was much better than being with Ayla. If they divorced, Ayla would likely remarry, and who knows how much Jerold would suffer then. At least with Leo, she could see him often and ensure he wasn't too miserable.
"I've told you before, this is my business. You don't need to worry about it."
Karen's face was filled with anger as she looked at Leo's cold expression. "You say I don't need to worry, but look at what you've done to Jerold! Leo, you have a family and a child. Can you stop being so selfish?"
Leo slammed the documents on the table, and the study fell into a tense silence.
Karen was somewhat intimidated by Leo. His sudden action made her face turn pale, and she didn't dare to speak again.
In the silence, Jerold's crying suddenly filled the room.
"Bad Daddy! I don't want you! I want my mommy!"
Leo glanced at the servant, who quickly stepped forward and took Jerold out of the study.
The room soon fell silent again, the oppressive atmosphere making it hard for Karen to breathe.
She looked at Leo and cautiously said, "Leo, I just remembered I have something to do. I'll leave now and come back another day to see Jerold."
"Wait." Leo stopped her, cold and detached. "Do you know why I brought him here?"
"Why?"
"Last night, Ayla made him eat hazelnuts on purpose to trigger his allergy just to see me."
Karen's eyes widened in disbelief. "What? Ayla did that?"
Thinking back to Ayla's call last night, Karen felt a chill down her spine. Ayla had called her because she couldn't reach Leo, hoping Karen would find him. The more she thought about it, the more horrified she became. Ayla had been willing to harm her own son just to see Leo.
"No, Jerold can't go back to Ayla. If she could give him something he's allergic to, who knows what else she might do. They can't meet again!"
Leo's expression remained cold. "I didn't tell Jerold about this because I didn't want to hurt him."
"How can you not tell him and still plan to send him back to Ayla? That's like sending him into a lion's den!"
Leo glanced at her. "Weren't you the one who brought him to me, insisting I take him to see Ayla?"
Karen's face flushed with embarrassment. "I didn't know the situation before."
"If you don't know the situation, don't meddle."
After a moment of silence, Karen glanced at Leo and quietly said, "Leo, I was wrong this time. I apologize. But Jerold absolutely cannot go back to Ayla. Who knows how she might abuse him."
Just thinking about Ayla's deliberate actions made her shiver. How could a mother be so heartless?
"I know what I'm doing. If Ayla contacts you again, ignore her."
Karen quickly nodded. "Okay, I understand."
"If there's nothing else, you can leave. I have work to do."
"Alright... alright."
As she left the villa, Karen finally breathed a sigh of relief. She was about to call the driver when her phone rang. Seeing it was Ayla, she sneered and answered. "Ayla, you still have the nerve to call me!"
"Mom, what do you mean by that?"
"You know exactly what I mean! You deliberately made Jerold have an allergic reaction just to see Leo. You don't deserve to be his mother. I won't help you anymore, and don't call me again."
With that, she hung up and blocked Ayla's number.
In the hospital room, Ayla threw her phone to the ground with a loud crash, startling Carol.
"Ms. Bridges, what's wrong?"
Ayla's expression was cold and dark, and she didn't respond.
Carol didn't dare to ask further. She picked up the broken phone and placed it on the table with a sigh.
After lunch, Leo had the servant take Jerold to Ayla.
When Ayla saw Jerold, she wasn't pleased. Instead, she glared at the servant. "Where's Leo? Why didn't he come himself?"
"Mrs. Wendy, Mr. Leo Wendy is busy, so he asked me to bring Mr. Jerold Wendy. If there's nothing else, I'll leave now."
"Stop!"
Ayla's eyes were filled with anger. "What does Leo mean by this? Is he abandoning Jerold?"
"Mrs. Wendy, Mr. Leo Wendy only asked me to bring Mr. Jerold Wendy. I don't know anything else."
"Get out!"
Ayla screamed, her delicate features twisted in rage, looking terrifying.
Jerold was frightened by her appearance and instinctively took several steps back. Ayla had looked just as terrifying when she hit him before.
The servant nodded to Ayla and left.
The room quickly fell silent.
Ayla looked at Jerold, who was cowering in the corner, and coldly said, "Come here."
Jerold shook his head. "Mommy, I told Daddy I wanted us to be together, but he didn't agree... Mommy, I did what you said. Please don't hit me, okay?"
His voice was trembling with tears.
Ayla's eyes flashed with coldness, but she spoke gently. "Don't worry, Mommy won't hit you. I just want to know if Daddy treated you well."
Jerold looked at Ayla, hesitated for a moment, then shook his head. "No... Daddy didn't treat me well. I cried and said I wanted to come back to Mommy, and that's why he agreed to send me back."
