Chapter 313 Now You're Playing the Good Guy?
Seeing David still looking worried, Tyler sneered, "Don't forget, you were the one who found the doctor to hypnotize Seb. Should I remind you what you were thinking back then? Now you're playing the good guy?"
David's face changed, and he took a deep breath, staying silent.
Next to him, a cold glint flashed in Alex's eyes. If Seb turned into an idiot, he'd lose his shot at the Smith Group and Sharon. Maybe Alex could even grab the Silvercrest Group.
The three of them sat in the living room, each lost in their own thoughts. The room fell silent.
Seb hadn't been back at the Silvercrest Group for long when Rufus knocked and walked in. "Mr. Smith, the Walker family just announced that your engagement with Ms. Walker has been dissolved for a while now. They're trying to save face."
Seb nodded, "Alright, don't bother with it anymore."
"Got it."
Meanwhile, at the villa, Sharon saw Rebecca's photos and realized she was at the Illusionary Oasis Hotel last night. She was surprised.
She also saw the Walker family's statement saying the engagement had been privately dissolved long ago, so Rebecca wasn't cheating. The Silvercrest Group had no comment, which pretty much meant they accepted it.
"Mom," Demetrius walked up to Sharon cautiously, "I need to tell you something."
Seeing his hesitation, Sharon was curious, "What is it? Go ahead."
Demetrius mumbled, "Promise you won't get mad when you hear it."
Sharon raised an eyebrow, "Did you do something you think would make me angry?"
Demetrius shook his head, his chubby hands twisting together, looking down.
"Go ahead, I promise I won't get mad," Sharon encouraged gently.
Demetrius took a deep breath, mustered up the courage to look at her, "I want Dad to take me to the amusement park."
Sharon was stunned for a moment. Seeing the anticipation and caution in Demetrius's eyes, her heart ached.
Even though she and Seb had been getting along in front of Demetrius recently, he probably still sensed their strained relationship. That's why he was afraid she'd get mad about wanting to go to the amusement park with Seb.
Sharon thought she should have a good talk with Demetrius.
She picked him up and sat him on a chair, looking at him gently, "Demetrius, if you want to go to the amusement park with your dad, you don't need to ask me specifically. You should ask your dad, and if he agrees, that's fine."
Demetrius hesitated for a moment but still spoke softly, "But I want you to come with us too."
Sharon smiled gently, "Alright, I'll go with you, but you have to ask your dad yourself."
Even though she didn't want any contact with Seb, she cared more about Demetrius's growth and happiness than her own feelings.
"Okay!" Demetrius's furrowed brows finally relaxed, but he still looked at Sharon cautiously, "Mom, you won't be mad, right? It's just that my classmate Albert said his parents are taking him to the amusement park this weekend, so I want to go with you and Dad."
"Not at all. I'm glad you can bravely express your thoughts!"
Seeing that Sharon really wasn't mad, Demetrius finally relaxed, hugged her neck, and kissed her cheek. "Mom, I love you so much!"
Sharon kissed him back on the cheek. "Alright, it's time for your nap. You can talk to your dad about the amusement park when he gets home tonight."
"Okay!"
But Demetrius was so excited, it took him over an hour to fall asleep.
Sharon tucked him in, got up, and sat on the sofa, picking up her phone to send Seb a message.
Judging by Demetrius's look of anticipation earlier, if Seb refused, he would be really upset. So, she needed to convince Seb to agree to take Demetrius to the amusement park before he got home.
After she sent the message, there was no reply.
By evening, Sharon couldn't help but call Seb. The phone rang a few times before he answered.
"Mr. Smith, did you see the message I sent you this afternoon?" Sharon asked.
Seb's cold voice came through, "I saw it."
Sharon wanted to ask why he didn't reply if he saw it, but then she realized that their interaction was only because of Demetrius, so it was normal for Seb not to want to reply.
Suppressing her chaotic thoughts, Sharon spoke softly, "Maybe because Demetrius grew up without a father, he really wants to go to the amusement park with his parents like other kids. If he asks you tonight, I hope you can agree."
There was silence on the other end.
Sharon couldn't figure out what he meant and frowned, "Mr. Smith, if you keep silent, I'll take it as your agreement."
Finally, Seb spoke, "Ms. Roach, you sent a message and called for this. What made you think I wouldn't agree to such a small request from my son? And, Demetrius grew up without a father because you hid his existence from me, didn't you?"
At some point, the call was disconnected, and Sharon stared at her phone in a daze.
Seb was right; it was her who caused Demetrius's current insecurity.
But could she be blamed for this?
If she could choose, she would have wanted Demetrius to be born into a complete family.
And over the years, she had done her best to give Demetrius the best education and care. Seb had no right to criticize her.
At dinner time, Seb stepped into the villa.
From the moment Seb walked towards the dining room, Demetrius's body tensed up, and his eating slowed down, clearly nervous.
Sharon gently patted his back, her tone encouraging, "Demetrius, don't be afraid. Just muster up the courage to say it."
Seb sat down opposite Sharon and Demetrius, seemingly unaware of Demetrius's nervousness, and started eating.
The dining table was quiet. Sharon only occasionally spoke to Demetrius and didn't glance at Seb at all.
After the meal, just as Seb was about to head back to the study, Demetrius mustered up the courage, "Dad, I have something to tell you."
Seb looked down at him, his expression calm, "What is it?"
"Can you take Mom and me to the amusement park this weekend?" After saying this, Demetrius's eyes were fixed on Seb, filled with anticipation and fear, hoping Seb would agree but afraid he would refuse. Every second of waiting was torture for him.
Seb pondered for a moment and then said, "Is Saturday okay? I have to go on a business trip on Sunday."
Hearing that, Demetrius's eyes instantly lit up, and he quickly nodded, "Okay! Thank you, Dad!"
