Chapter 432 Will you give me a little reward tonight?
When they were taking a bath, Seb was surprisingly well-behaved. Sharon thought he had finally changed and let out a sigh of relief. But as soon as she got back to the bedroom, dried her hair, and was ready to sleep, Seb was right there.
Before she could even say no, he kissed her, and his fingers intertwined with hers. The night was a bit chilly, and Sharon felt like she was being tossed around by waves, sometimes crashing onto the shore, sometimes pulled into the deep sea.
After a whole night of being up, Sharon woke up late the next morning. Seeing the time on her phone showing 8:08, she scrambled out of bed, moving swiftly through the motions of her morning routine before heading downstairs.
Seb and Demetrius were already at the dining table having breakfast. When Demetrius saw her, he put down his milk and said in his sweet little voice, "Good morning, Mom."
"Morning." Sharon kissed his cheek, wiped the milk from the corner of his mouth with a tissue, and sat down next to him.
Seb looked at her, "Why don't you sleep a bit more?"
"If I sleep any longer, I might as well not go at all." Sharon's tone was sharp, and her face was tense as she looked at him.
Last night, Sharon had begged Seb to stop several times, but he wouldn't let her go, coaxing her to call him "honey" to be spared. And when she did, it only made things more intense.
When she got up just now, her legs were still a bit wobbly. And the guy responsible for all this was sitting across from her, casually having breakfast.
Next time, she wouldn't believe a word Seb said, especially in bed.
Seb knew he was too crazy last night. When it finally ended, he carried her to the bathroom to clean up, and she fell asleep from exhaustion.
He cleared his throat and said, feeling a bit guilty, "I'll be gentler next time."
Sharon glared at him, "Shut up!"
Demetrius looked back and forth between Seb and Sharon, confused about what they were talking about. Just as he was about to ask, Seb looked at him. "Demetrius, if you're done with breakfast, go to school. Don't be late."
Demetrius's attention shifted instantly, "Okay, Dad."
He jumped off the chair, looking up at Sharon, "Mom, I'm going to school."
Sharon said, "I'll pick you up in the evening."
Demetrius replied, "Okay."
He put on his backpack, changed his shoes, and left with his little bear umbrella. Once he was out the door, Sharon turned to Seb and said angrily, "Can you be more mindful in front of Demetrius and not be so indiscreet?"
Seb's eyes twinkled with amusement, "He doesn't understand anyway."
Sharon said, "Even if he doesn't understand, you shouldn't say these things in front of him."
Seb said, "Yes, honey."
"Who's your honey?" Sharon glared at him, clearly annoyed.
Seb's lips curved up, "I seem to remember someone calling me honey over and over again last night."
"That was because you tricked me, you liar!" Sharon gritted her teeth, but her ears turned red.
Knowing that teasing her any further would really make her mad, Seb didn't push it. "I'm done eating, I'll wait for you in the car."
Sharon glanced at the time and realized she'd be late if she didn't hurry. She put down her fork and said, "Let's go, I'm done."
She got up and headed for the door. Noticing she barely ate, Seb frowned and turned to Dana, "Pack a breakfast to go."
Dana nodded, "Okay."
After changing her shoes, Sharon waited in the car for a bit before Seb joined her.
Just as she was about to say something, Seb handed her a takeout box. "Here, eat on the way."
Sharon was taken aback for a moment, then accepted the breakfast. "Thanks."
She didn't expect Seb to be so thoughtful. Seb didn't say anything, just opening a file to read.
After a while, he noticed Sharon wasn't eating and frowned. "Why aren't you eating?"
Sharon replied, "I'm not very hungry right now. I'll eat when I get to the office."
Seb nodded, "Okay."
He went back to his file, but his phone rang.
"Mr. Smith, the police have news. After reviewing the surveillance, they found Mr. Wright accidentally fell down the stairs, so there's no way to prosecute Karen."
Seb's eyes darkened. "Got it."
He hung up and turned to Sharon, but she spoke first. "I heard everything."
Worried she'd be upset, Seb said softly, "Don't worry, I'll have someone guard your dad's hospital room. Karen won't get near him."
Sharon pursed her lips. "Even if we can't use the law, I want her to apologize to my dad."
Seb said, "I'll talk to Leo about that. You don't need to worry, and don't interact with Leo anymore."
Seb had only found a security guard involved in the flower delivery to Sharon, but he was sure Leo was behind it. He suspected Leo had other forces backing him. Thinking about it made Seb's expression even colder.
Sharon nodded, "Okay, thanks."
Seb pulled her into his arms. "Then can I get a little reward tonight?"
Sharon immediately pushed him away and glared. "I'm talking about serious matters."
Seb grinned. "So am I."
"No way!" She refused flatly.
"Alright." Seb looked disappointed.
Seeing his sullen face, Sharon bit her lip. "Last night... I'm still not feeling well. If you really want to, tomorrow night is fine."
Surprised, Seb saw Sharon's red ears and her fingers fiddling with her clothes. He couldn't help but smile. His Sharon was so cute when she was shy.
Seb replied, "Okay."
At the office, Sharon and Seb parted ways in the elevator.
As soon as Sharon got to her office, she saw Kirk by Ariana's desk, talking to her. Kirk looked gentle, while Ariana seemed impatient. Hearing the door open, they both looked over.
Seeing Sharon, Kirk's eyes flickered, and Ariana seemed relieved. She said to Kirk, "Mr. Marshall, I need to prepare for work, please leave."
Kirk looked at her steadily. "Let's have lunch together."
Ariana was about to refuse when he added, "My hand isn't in great shape right now."
"Alright," Ariana said, somewhat speechless and a bit annoyed by Kirk's persistence. She had clearly told him she wasn't interested, but he just wouldn't listen.
Having achieved his goal, Kirk turned to leave. "Ms. Roach, good morning."
Sharon, not fond of him at all, replied coldly, "Morning."
After Kirk left, Sharon sat at her desk, put her breakfast aside, and started prepping for today's experiment.
After hesitating for a bit, Ariana walked over to Sharon's desk. "Sharon, I'm not with him. I only agreed to lunch because he got hurt because of me."
Seeing her cautious expression, Sharon sighed. "Ariana, I just think Kirk isn't a good guy, so I wanted to warn you. You don't have to worry about me getting mad because you're in contact with him. I won't interfere with who you hang out with, nor do I have the right to."
Seeing that Sharon really wasn't angry, Ariana finally relaxed. "Okay, Sharon, don't worry, I know what to do."
Sharon nodded. "Go prep for the experiment."
Ariana replied, "Okay."
Time flew by during the experiment, and the morning passed quickly. At noon, Kirk came directly to the lab door to wait for Ariana.
Ariana packed up her notebook, turned around, and walked out of the lab, saying indifferently, "Let's go."
Kirk walked beside her, asking gently, "Was the experiment tiring today?"
Ariana responded, "Not really. What do you want for lunch? I'll go buy it."
Kirk said, "Whatever you're having, just get me the same."
Ariana nodded, her face cold, with no intention of continuing the conversation.
When they reached the elevator, Kirk suddenly asked, "Ariana, do you dislike me?"
Ariana lowered her eyes, her tone emotionless, "No, you're overthinking it."
"Am I really overthinking it?" Kirk's voice was soft, almost like he was talking to himself.
Just then, the elevator doors opened, and Ariana walked in as if she hadn't heard anything. They arrived early, so the cafeteria wasn't crowded yet. Ariana told Kirk to find a seat while she went to get the food.
Since Kirk's hand was injured, she got two servings of mashed potatoes and two soups. During the meal, Kirk didn't talk as much as before and was rather silent.
Ariana didn't mind, as she was only grateful to Kirk and couldn't give him what he wanted. She didn't understand why Kirk liked her.
"Mr. Marshall, Ms. Stout, may I sit here?" A gentle female voice sounded beside them. Ariana looked up and saw Violet, a member of Kirk's team, surprised. She didn't have much contact with Violet, only knowing that Adeline didn't like her much.
She hadn't asked why and didn't care. "Sure."
Kirk smiled, "Of course."
Violet sat down next to Ariana and, seeing the mashed potatoes in front of Kirk, said in surprise, "Mr. Marshall, don't you hate mashed potatoes?"
Ariana unconsciously looked at Kirk and finally understood why he hadn't touched the mashed potatoes and was only drinking soup. If he didn't like it, why didn't he say when she brought it over?
Ariana asked, "What do you like to eat? I'll get you something else."
Kirk looked at Ariana and shook his head, "No need, this is fine."
Ariana's fingers turned white as she gripped the spoon, lowering her eyes and saying nothing more, continuing to eat.
Violet's eyes moved between the two of them, and she asked boldly, "Mr. Marshall, are you and Ms. Stout dating?"
Before Kirk could speak, Ariana quickly interjected, "You misunderstood. I ran into some trouble with traffickers on my way home from work, and Mr. Marshall happened to be there. He broke his hand saving me, so I've been having lunch with him to help him out."
Kirk lowered his eyes and said nothing, his face turning a bit colder.
Violet said, "I see. Sorry, I misunderstood."
Violet's gaze swept over Kirk's cold face, her eyes showing an unknown emotion. It seemed that Kirk's feelings for Ariana were not just those of colleagues.
The rest of the meal was eaten in silence, contrasting sharply with the lively atmosphere around them.
After finishing her meal, Ariana put down her spoon. Seeing that Kirk hadn't finished, she didn't rush him but took out her phone to watch short videos.
Kirk's peripheral vision stayed on her, and seeing that she didn't spare him a glance, he pursed his lips, his face looking a bit unpleasant. He didn't notice that someone else was also watching him silently.
After finishing the meal, half an hour had passed. Violet went upstairs with them, chatting with Kirk and deliberately ignoring Ariana.
Ariana didn't want to talk either, so she kept her head down, playing with her phone.
When Ariana got out of the elevator, she looked at Kirk, "Mr. Marshall, if you don't have anything else, I'll go back to the office."
Because Violet was there, Kirk hadn't found a chance to talk to Ariana, but now that he had the opportunity, he didn't know what to say. "Okay."
Ariana nodded, "If you need, I can give you a ride home after work."
Kirk said, "OK."
Ariana nodded to Violet and turned to walk away.
Watching her back, Violet casually asked, "Mr. Marshall, when did you become so close with Ariana? I remember you didn't like Ms. Roach and her team members."
As soon as she finished speaking, she met Kirk's half-smiling expression. "When did I ever tell you I didn't like Ms. Roach?"
Under his gaze, Violet suddenly felt a chill down her spine and awkwardly smiled, "I was just guessing."
It was obvious to everyone that Kirk didn't like Sharon; he didn't need to say it. But this side of Kirk was far from his usual approachable demeanor, making Violet unconsciously a bit scared.
Kirk's lips curved into a smile, "You guessed wrong. Don't guess next time. Besides, Ms. Roach and Mr. Smith are a couple now. If Mr. Smith hears this, the consequences will be serious."
Violet's face turned pale, "I... I understand."
Kirk said nothing more and turned to leave.
Watching his tall figure, Violet bit her lower lip and mustered the courage to follow him, walking side by side back to the office.
Top floor.
After lunch, Sharon took a nap in Seb's office. Seb had work to handle, so after eating, he started reviewing documents.
After signing the necessary afternoon documents, he put down his pen, rubbed his tired temples, and looked at the sofa, his eyes softening instantly.
Although the blinds were drawn, a few rays of sunlight still peeked through the gaps, playfully landing on Sharon's face, casting a soft glow.
This scene was something Seb had always dreamed of. He never thought there would be a day when it would come true.
The phone on the desk suddenly vibrated, and Seb answered it. Paul's lowered voice came through, "Mr. Smith, Daniel went to Mr. Roach's kindergarten this morning."
