Chapter 452 The Bridges Group is in Trouble
"Mr. Thomas, I've delivered the lawyer's letter, so I'm heading out now." With that, the guy turned and left without another word.
Just as he was about to leave the office, he heard the sound of paper being ripped behind him.
Once the Smith Group's legal counsel was out of sight, Rocco nervously glanced at Daniel. "Mr. Thomas, what do we do now?"
Daniel's face was icy. "I only reported the Smith Group's faulty building materials to the authorities. How is that slander? Tell the legal team to handle the lawsuit."
Rocco's eyes lit up, and he quickly responded, "Got it, I'll get on it right away."
The office fell silent again. With a stern expression, Daniel dialed Perry's number. "Mr. McCaffrey, how dare you team up with the Smith Group to go against me? I won't let this slide! In less than an hour, all the dirt on your lover will be in your wife's hands!"
Daniel's voice was shaky with anger.
Perry chuckled, "Mr. Thomas, how can you be sure that person is really my lover and not a setup to throw you off?"
Daniel gripped his phone so tightly his fingertips turned white. After a brief silence, he sneered, "I underestimated you this time, but this isn't over. Mr. McCaffrey, you'd better brace yourself for what's coming!"
He hung up and angrily threw his phone to the ground, his face dark with rage. He thought he had everything under control, but Seb had outsmarted him.
This plan couldn't have come from someone as dim-witted as Randy; it had to be Seb!
Initially, he only planned to mess with the Smith Group a bit, but now he was going after both the Smith Group and the Silvercrest Group!
Meanwhile, upon hearing about Daniel's reaction, Randy smirked. "Thanks for your hard work. You can head back now."
After the legal counsel left, Randy immediately called Seb to ask what to do next.
Seb simply said, "Wait."
Randy looked puzzled. "Wait? Wait for what?"
Seb replied, "Wait for Daniel's next move."
Randy nodded. "Alright then."
After a moment of silence, Seb added, "If you don't want to wait, you can strike first. But this incident probably won't hurt Daniel much. At best, you can use it to tarnish the Thomas Group's reputation."
Randy agreed, "Okay, Uncle Seb, I get it."
After hanging up, Randy thought it over and decided to follow Seb's advice. He knew his own limits, and making the first move might give Daniel an opening. If it backfired on the Smith Group, he couldn't handle that responsibility.
In the Silvercrest Group President's Office.
Seb put down his phone and was about to pick up a document when Paul suddenly knocked and walked in. "Mr. Smith, the Bridges Group is in trouble."
Seb's eyes widened in surprise. "What happened?"
Paul explained, "They invested heavily in a project with Starlight Corporation, and now they're struggling with cash flow. A partner company took advantage of them. If they can't get through this, they might go bankrupt."
The Bridges Group had risen quickly in Metropolis in recent years, but their foundation was still shaky. If they hit a snag, they could easily go under.
But it seemed too convenient that they were taken advantage of right after investing with Starlight Corporation.
Seb said, "Find out exactly what happened."
If his hunch was right, the Bridges Group had been set up.
Paul nodded. "Got it."
After Paul left, Seb mulled over the situation, suspecting that the Bridges Group's trouble was tied to Starlight Corporation.
Starlight Corporation, a subsidiary of the publicly traded Vertex Innovations Group, was known for its resort and amusement park projects. They had completed several high-profile projects recently, like the water park in the northern part of the city and the central dinosaur park in Metropolis. They had also secured several lucrative projects based on their track record.
Silvercrest Group hadn't collaborated much with Starlight Corporation, so Seb hadn't paid them much attention. If the Bridges Group's trouble was indeed linked to it, then this company needed a thorough investigation.
That evening, as Seb exited the conference room after a meeting, Paul approached him. "Mr. Smith, Garry wants to see you. He's in the reception room now."
Seb paused but wasn't too surprised. "Got it. Please bring two cups of coffee."
Paul nodded. "Understood."
Seb walked to the reception room door, and as soon as he pushed it open, Garry looked up and quickly stood. "Mr. Smith."
Seb nodded. "Mr. Bridges, please have a seat."
After sitting down across from Garry, Seb asked, "What brings you to Silvercrest Group today?"
Garry sighed, looking frustrated. "Mr. Smith, you must have heard about the trouble the Bridges Group is in. That's why I'm here."
Seb replied, "I've heard a bit, but I don't know the details."
Seeing Seb's calm demeanor, Garry hesitated but then explained briefly. "I don't mind if you laugh at me. The Bridges Group's trouble is all because of my granddaughter. She was blinded by profit and collaborated with Starlight Corporation on an amusement park project, investing most of our liquid assets into it, which led to our current problem."
Seb remained expressionless, but he didn't buy Garry's story. Ayla was just a general manager, and all the shares of the Bridges Group were in Garry's hands. Ayla didn't have the authority to approve a project that would invest most of the company's liquid assets.
This project was likely negotiated by Ayla, but it must have been approved by Garry before proceeding.
Seb asked, "So, what brings you here today?"
After a moment of silence, Garry slowly said, "Mr. Smith, I came hoping you could help the Bridges family get through this crisis. Once the amusement park project generates returns, we'll surely repay you."
Seb showed a troubled expression. "Mr. Bridges, it's not that I don't want to help, but the Thomas Group is currently targeting both the Smith Group and Silvercrest Group. If I help the Bridges Group now, Daniel will surely use this opportunity to go after Silvercrest Group, which could put us in a crisis as well."
He did have the ability to help the Bridges Group, but he wouldn't make any promises until he understood the situation between the Bridges Group and Starlight Corporation.
Moreover, after Garry's banquet, he didn't believe the Bridges family would be grateful.
Summoning every ounce of resolve, Garry gritted his teeth and made his offer, "If you're willing to help the Bridges Group, I'm willing to offer half of my shares in the company."
Although giving up half of his shares was painful, saving the Bridges Group was worth it. After all, if the Bridges Group collapsed, those shares would be worthless.
Garry had already decided to do this on his way here. By offering Seb half of the Bridges Group's shares, he was essentially aligning their interests.
