Chapter 283 Voluntarily Giving Up Custody
But Sharon shot down that idea real quick. Marrying Zachary just to keep Seb from snagging Demetrius? Nah, that'd be way too harsh on Zachary.
Anyway, she would never let Seb take Demetrius from her.
The next few days, Seb was a no-show, but Sharon couldn't shake this heavy feeling in her gut.
Friday rolled around, and as the workday was winding down, Sharon felt a bit on edge.
Then her phone buzzed. It was the nanny. She said she went to pick up Demetrius from preschool, but he wasn't there. The staff said his dad had already picked him up.
Sharon's face went pale. She took a deep breath and said, "Got it. You can head back. I know where he is."
She hung up and, with shaky hands, dialed Seb's number.
She called and called, but no answer. She knew he was dodging her.
Grinding her teeth, she kept calling.
Finally, after what felt like forever, he picked up.
"What do you want?" Seb's voice was cold.
"Where's Demetrius? Bring him back now, or I'm calling the cops!" Sharon snapped.
There was a pause before Seb's icy voice came through.
"Willow Creek Estates, Building 1." And then he hung up.
Sharon grabbed her bag, told her assistant to wrap things up, and bolted to Willow Creek Estates.
This place was fancy, but Sharon didn't care. She power-walked to Building 1.
The door was open, like they were expecting her.
She took a deep breath and stormed in.
The villa was all sleek black and white. No one was there except Seb, lounging on the sofa.
"Where's Demetrius?" Sharon demanded, her voice shaking with anger.
Seb looked up, his eyes cold. "Ms. Roach, have a seat."
"Tell me where he is! Don't make me call the cops!" she yelled.
Seb stayed calm, way too calm. "Sit down first, Ms. Roach. You're his mom; I'm not stopping you from seeing him. But keep this up, and I promise you won't see him again."
Fuming, Sharon sat down across from him. "What do you want?"
Seb slid a document over to her. "Read this. Sign it, and you can see Demetrius."
She glanced at it. It was about giving up custody. Furious, she ripped it to shreds and threw the pieces at him. "In your dreams! I'm never giving up custody! You can't take him from me!"
A piece of paper cut Seb's face, drawing blood.
He wiped it away, his eyes colder than ever. "Ms. Roach, if you don't like the terms or want more compensation, we can talk. But custody? That's non-negotiable."
Sharon laughed, but it was more out of anger than humor. "What right do you have to fight me? What have you done for Demetrius all these years?"
Seb's face darkened. "If you hadn't hidden him from me, I wouldn't have missed out on his life. Your selfishness kept us apart. I'm not handing Demetrius over to someone like you!"
Sharon shot back, "You don't get to call me selfish! If you're not giving him back, then see you in court!"
She spun around and stormed out.
Seb watched her leave, his eyes burning with disgust and anger. 'Ungrateful woman,' he thought.
Just then, his phone rang. Seeing it was Paul, Seb's eyes flickered as he answered.
"Mr. Smith, Demetrius is crying for Ms. Roach and won't eat."
Seb's face was stone-cold. "If he doesn't want to eat, let him be."
"But if he keeps crying like this, I'm worried..."
Seb paused, then said coldly, "I'll be there soon."
Meanwhile, Sharon jumped into her car and called the cops.
They quickly found surveillance footage of Demetrius being picked up.
Seeing Paul in the footage, Sharon dialed his number.
Paul answered, and Sharon could hear Demetrius's heart-wrenching cries. Her heart clenched.
"Paul, where is Demetrius? If you don't tell me, I'll report you for kidnapping!"
Paul didn't answer but put the phone to Demetrius's ear. "Demetrius, it's your mom."
Demetrius stopped crying, just sobbing. "Mom, where are you? Come get me."
Sharon's heart broke. She'd never heard him cry like this. Suppressing her anger, she softly said, "Demetrius, don't be scared. I'll come get you soon, okay?"
"Okay, Mom, hurry..."
Before he could finish, the phone cut off, and Seb's cold voice came through. "Ms. Roach, until you make up your mind, you won't see Demetrius."
"Mr. Smith, what right do you have?" Sharon was shaking with rage.
"Because I'm his father. If you want a paternity test, I'll send one over."
The call ended, and when Sharon tried to call back, the line was busy.
A police officer approached her, looking sympathetic. "Ms. Roach, the car turned onto an unmonitored road after leaving the school. We lost track of it. The tech team needs more time."
Sharon nodded. "Okay, I understand. The person who took my son is Paul, the CEO's secretary at Silvercrest Group. He might know where my son is."
The officer's expression turned serious. "Alright, we'll find him and get more information."
Just then, a man in a suit with gold-rimmed glasses walked into the station, carrying a briefcase.
He smiled at Sharon. "Hello, Ms. Roach. I'm Nathan Stewart, Mr. Smith's lawyer. From now on, I'll handle all matters regarding Demetrius's custody on his behalf."
