Chapter 509 Identical Disgust
Sharon quickly comforted him, "I'm sorry, sweetie. Mommy's here now."
She hugged and soothed him for a while before Demetrius finally calmed down, though his body still trembled slightly, and tears glistened in his eyes.
Sharon wiped away his tears and whispered, "No more crying. Mommy's taking you home now."
"Okay." Sharon stood up and noticed Leo still standing nearby. She frowned, "Why are you still here?"
Leo ignored her question and looked down at Demetrius. "Demetrius, tell me, how did you get out?"
Vertex Innovations Group's system had never had issues before. Today, just after locking Demetrius in his office, the system malfunctioned.
Though it seemed unlikely, he couldn't help but suspect it might be related to Demetrius.
Demetrius glared at him with the same disdain Sharon had. "Why should I tell you? You're a bad person! I hate you!"
If Leo hadn't brought him here, he would have been home having dinner and playing with his blocks by now.
Leo's frown deepened, and his gaze darkened.
Sharon pulled Demetrius behind her and glared coldly at Leo. "Leo, Demetrius is fine today, so I won't make a fuss. But if this happens again, I won't let you off!"
Leo didn't care about her threat. "Sharon, Silvercrest Group is bankrupt. You and Demetrius will only suffer with Seb. You should come with me. I promise to treat Demetrius as my own."
"I'd rather suffer with Seb than be with someone as despicable as you!"
Her face was full of disgust, looking at him as if he were something repulsive.
Leo felt a sharp pain in his chest, and his hands clenched involuntarily.
"Sharon, one day, you'll willingly be with me!"
"That day will never come!"
Leo took a deep breath, said nothing more, and turned to leave the elevator.
Sharon quickly pressed the button for the first floor. Once the elevator started moving smoothly, she looked at Demetrius. "Are you okay, Demetrius?"
Demetrius shook his head. "I'm okay, Mom. Just a little hungry."
"Alright, we'll have dinner as soon as we get home."
"Okay!"
The elevator soon reached the first floor. Sharon and Demetrius got into the car and quickly drove away.
In the CEO's office at the top floor of Vertex Innovations Group, Leo looked at the mess in his office, his face dark with anger.
Zack stood behind him, trembling. "Mr. Wendy, this was all done by Ms. Roach's son..."
"Shut up!"
Did he need reminding? Did he not know who did it?
"You have half an hour to restore everything to its original state. Also, notify the entire tech department for a meeting!"
Ten minutes later, Leo sat in his office, his face still dark.
"It's been over half an hour since I learned about the system issue, and you still haven't figured out why it crashed. I spend so much money on you every month—what the hell are you even here for?"
The head of the tech department mustered the courage to speak. "Mr. Wendy, we're currently investigating. We should have the cause identified soon."
Leo sneered. "How soon is 'soon'? Half a day? A day? Ten days? Do you have any progress at all?"
No one dared to speak because they indeed had no progress since the issue started.
They were struggling just to keep the system running, let alone fix the bug.
The room fell silent, and everyone lowered their heads, avoiding eye contact with Leo.
Seeing them all silent and dejected, Leo was furious. He threw the documents in his hand onto the table and shouted, "Get back to work! If you don't find the cause and fix the bug today, you'll all be working overtime!"
Relieved, everyone quickly stood up and left without daring to look at Leo.
Soon, the conference room was empty, leaving Leo alone.
He took out his phone and opened the office surveillance footage, starting from when he locked Demetrius in the office.
At first, Demetrius tried to open the door but quickly realized it was locked and he couldn't open it.
After a while, he started causing havoc.
The decorations on the desk, the antique painting, and important documents were scattered everywhere, all in disarray.
Leo watched as his once tidy office was turned upside down by Demetrius. Important documents were scattered on the floor, and Demetrius walked all over them without a care. Leo felt his blood pressure rise, and the veins on his forehead throbbed with anger.
After a while, Demetrius sat in his chair and seemed to try guessing the computer password.
He didn't succeed and soon gave up, jumping off the chair and lying on the couch.
After lying there for a while, the surveillance footage suddenly went black.
The blackout coincided with the call from Zack about the system issue.
Leo put down his phone, dismissing his suspicion.
He couldn't believe he had thought the system issue was related to a five-year-old. He must have been too tired lately, causing his mind to be unclear.
Around seven in the evening, Sharon finally brought Demetrius back to the villa.
As soon as they walked into the living room, Dana rushed over. "Ms. Roach, Demetrius, you're finally back!"
"Dana, please prepare dinner for us. By the way, has Seb come out while I was gone?"
Dana shook her head, her eyes full of worry. "No, Mr. Smith has been in the study. I didn't dare disturb him Ms. Roach, I'm worried. Maybe you should check on him."
Sharon nodded. "Alright, I'll go check."
She sent Demetrius to wash his hands for dinner and went straight to the study door.
After standing there for a while, she gathered the courage to knock. "Seb, do you want to join us for dinner?"
Silence.
Sharon bit her lip, worry flashing in her eyes.
Seb being alone in the study always made her anxious, fearing he might do something drastic.
But besides trusting him, giving him space and time to accept Silvercrest Group's bankruptcy, she had no other options.
Just as she was about to push the door open to check, Seb's hoarse voice came from inside.
"I'm not hungry. You guys eat."
