Chapter 458 Decision
Sharon's eyebrows knitted together, disbelief flashing in her eyes. "Ariana, how long did you bust your butt to get out of that poor town and make it here? Are you really sure you want to quit?"
Having seen Ariana's struggle firsthand, Sharon didn't want her to make such a hasty decision and hoped she'd think it over.
Ariana, a bit annoyed, snapped back, "Sharon, I don't need your reminders. I know what I want. You don't have to say anything more."
She didn't want to hear Sharon's reasoning. Sharon was just an outsider and couldn't truly understand her despair and pain. Her family was like quicksand; the more she tried to escape, the deeper she sank. She didn't want to keep living like this. She'd had enough.
Besides, Sharon couldn't pull her out of the mess, no matter how much she talked. Everyone understood the big truths, but she had no other way out.
Going abroad to avoid the Stout family was her best option.
Seeing that Ariana wasn't listening, Sharon fell silent for a moment and then said, "Alright, if you're set on quitting, call your teacher and tell him yourself."
With that, Sharon turned and left the office, heading towards the lab.
Ariana could tell Sharon was mad, but she didn't plan to apologize. Even if she did, it wouldn't stop Sharon from being disappointed in her. Besides, they probably wouldn't see each other again.
Ariana took a deep breath, shook off the thoughts, and picked up her phone to call her teacher. She talked with her teacher for over an hour. During that time, Ariana hesitated, but the lure of going abroad was too strong, and she ultimately decided to leave.
Seeing he couldn't change her mind, her teacher reluctantly agreed.
The next steps were to hand over her work and apply to a school abroad before leaving.
In the afternoon, Ariana met with Kirk's lawyer, Floyd.
As soon as Floyd sat down, she handed him a bank card. "Mr. Almanza, this card has 5 million dollars. The password is six zeros. It should cover the funds Kirk misappropriated and the fines. The rest, after he's sentenced, please transfer it to his account."
"Ms. Stout... how do you have so much money?" Floyd didn't take the card, eyeing her suspiciously.
The source of the money was unclear, and if he took it without knowing more, it could cause trouble later.
Ariana saw his concern and smiled. "Mr. Almanza, don't worry. This money is from selling a house, not from anything shady."
Floyd finally felt reassured and took the card, nodding. "Alright, this amount is sufficient... But Ms. Stout, you and Mr. Marshall are just colleagues. Why are you willing to pay so much for him?"
Ariana replied, "That's my business. I don't need to explain it to you, do I? After all, I'm not a criminal, right?"
Floyd smiled. "Of course, you don't need to. I'm just curious."
Ariana stood up, and said, "Mr. Almanza, I have other matters to attend to. I'll take my leave now. Please handle Kirk's issue."
Floyd nodded. "Of course."
Ariana quickly left, but Floyd sat there, looking down at the card in his hand, still feeling uneasy.
He called his assistant. "Check if Ariana has had any large income recently and where it came from."
After hanging up, he went directly to the detention center. "Mr. Marshall, this is the card Ms. Stout gave me today. She said it has 5 million dollars for you to repay the misappropriated public funds."
