Chapter 484 I'll Have Someone Send You Back Later

"Alright." Jerold took the oatmeal from Leo's hand, sipped it, and then looked up at him. "Dad, where's Mom?"

Seeing the cautious look in Jerold's eyes, a complex emotion flashed through Leo's eyes. He squatted down in front of him and said, "Jerold, from now on, you'll be living with Dad, okay?"

Jerold froze for a moment, then his eyes turned red.

"Dad, are you leaving Mom?"

Ayla had told him before that Leo had found a bad woman outside and didn't want them anymore.

Now he didn't want Ayla, and after having a child with that bad woman, he definitely wouldn't want him either.

Leo sighed and said softly, "Jerold, you don't understand adult matters. It's not that Dad doesn't want Mom anymore. We're just separated, but both Mom and Dad still love you."

"You're lying!"

Jerold threw the bowl on the ground, crying as he ran towards the door. "You're a bad dad! You found a bad woman outside, and after having a child with her, you won't want me either. I want to find Mom. I don't want you anymore!"

The floor was covered with ceramic shards. Afraid Jerold might fall on them, Leo quickly picked him up and carried him out of the room.

"Jerold, listen to Dad. Dad will never leave you."

Jerold didn't listen at all, struggling and crying for his mom.

After trying to comfort him for a long time without success, Leo had no choice but to have someone contact Ayla.

Soon, one of his men approached with a troubled expression. "Mr. Wendy, Ms. Bridges fell down the stairs and broke a bone. She's in the hospital and can't come over."

Leo pressed his lips together and said in a deep voice, "Got it."

He looked at Jerold, who was still sniffling on the couch, and instructed the housekeeper, "Keep an eye on Jerold. If he's hungry, get him something to eat. Don't let him sneak out."

Given Jerold's current state, he would likely try to sneak out to find Ayla.

Leo would never let Jerold go back to Ayla and become a tool for her to threaten him.

"Yes, Mr. Wendy."

After giving the instructions, Leo went back to his study to work.

Not long after, Kimball arrived with Karen.

As soon as they walked in, they saw Jerold sniffling on the couch. Karen hurried over. "Jerold, what's wrong? Why are you crying? Where's your dad?"

Seeing Karen, Jerold's tears started flowing again. He reached out and hugged her.

"Grandma, Dad doesn't want Mom anymore. I want to see Mom... Dad won't let me see her."

Seeing Jerold so heartbroken, Karen felt a pang of sympathy and hurriedly wiped his tears.

"Don't cry, don't cry. I'll talk to your dad."

"Really?"

Jerold looked up at Karen with hopeful eyes.

Seeing the tears on his face, Karen's heart softened, and she quickly nodded. "Of course, it's true."

As they spoke, Leo walked into the living room.

Seeing Karen comforting Jerold, Leo quickly looked away and turned to Kimball.

"Mr. Bridges, let's talk in the study."

"Sure, sure."

Kimball rubbed his hands awkwardly. He had always looked down on Leo, thinking he was just a freeloader.

But now, Leo had become the owner of Vertex Innovations Group, while his own company was on the brink of bankruptcy, and he needed Leo's help to save it. His feelings were undeniably complicated.

They talked in the study for over an hour before coming out. Kimball's expression had changed from awkward to beaming with joy.

Indeed, the fortune teller was right; Karen had brought him good luck.

Although his company was almost bankrupt, Leo had promised a $500 million investment and future cooperation.

Just thinking about the profits made Kimball unable to suppress his smile.

Seeing his smile, Karen knew the talk had gone well and felt relieved.

She put Jerold down and said to Kimball, "Did you settle everything?"

"Yes, I have some work to do at the company, so I'll head back. I'll have the driver come pick you up later."

"Okay, will you be back for dinner?"

"Definitely. We'll celebrate tonight."

After Kimball left, Jerold tugged on Karen's sleeve. "Grandma, when will you talk to Dad about letting me see Mom?"

"Grandma will go right now."

"I want to go with you."

They walked to the study door and knocked.

"Come in."

Karen pushed the door open and walked in. "Leo, I heard from Jerold that you won't let him see his mom?"

Leo put down the document in his hand and looked at Karen coldly. "Mom, you can't even manage your own affairs, so don't meddle in mine."

"I don't intend to interfere with your issues with Ayla, but Jerold is my grandson, and he's so young. If you don't let him see Ayla, he'll be heartbroken. What if he does something drastic?"

Leo put down the document and looked at Jerold. "Jerold, go outside."

Jerold shook his head. "No, Dad, I want to see Mom. I want to be with her!"

"Are you sure? Have you forgotten how she used to hit you?"

Jerold shrank back, fear flashing across his face as he remembered the beatings.

After hesitating for a while, Jerold still nodded. "Mom didn't mean to hit me. She told me she was in a bad mood then and wouldn't do it again. She even took me out for a nice meal yesterday."

Seeing Jerold's innocent face, Leo frowned.

He didn't want to tell Jerold that Ayla had taken him out to eat last night to make him allergic, forcing Leo to meet her.

But if he didn't let Jerold see Ayla's true colors, he would keep wanting to see her and might even resent Leo in the long run.

Thinking of this, Leo looked at him seriously and said, "If you had to choose between Mom and Dad, who would you pick?"

"Dad, I don't want to choose. I want us to be a happy family."

"You have to choose. It's either me or your mom."

Tears welled up in Jerold's eyes as he cried, "I don't want to choose. I want both of you. I don't want you to divorce!"

Seeing him cry, Karen felt heartbroken and looked at Leo disapprovingly. "What kind of father are you? If he misses Ayla so much, just let him go back. Why force him to choose?"

Leo ignored her and continued to look at Jerold. "Since you won't choose, I'll choose for you. I'll have someone take you back."
