Chapter 619 Guarantee That I Will Never Order You Around Again

Sophie said, "What are you up to? Shouldn't you be in a meeting right now? How do you have time to call me?"

Randy replied, "Meeting's done. I'm flying back tonight. Wanna meet up?"

Sophie raised an eyebrow. "What time will you get to Metropolis?"

"A little after eleven."

"That's too late. You've been on a business trip for almost a week. You should go home and rest."

Randy chuckled. "But I want to see you. How about this: I'll have the driver stop by your place. We can meet briefly, and then I'll head home. How does that sound?"

Knowing that Randy would pass by the Lee Villa on his way back to the Smith Villa, Sophie agreed. "Alright, call me when you're close. I'm about to have dinner, so I'll talk to you later. Bye."

"Okay."

Sophie hung up and walked into the restaurant.

Saul had reserved a private room, and he was already waiting inside when Sophie arrived.

He looked thinner and tanner than she remembered from two weeks ago.

The moment he saw Sophie, his previously dull eyes lit up, and a smile spread across his face.

"Sophie, you're here."

"Yeah."

Sophie sat down across from him. "How have you been?"

"Pretty good. By the way, where's your boyfriend? Why didn't he come with you?"

"He's on a business trip."

Saul's eyes flickered. "I see. Well, I ordered a couple of dishes before you arrived. Take a look and see if you want to add anything."

Sophie took the menu he handed her and glanced through it, only adding a soup.

"It's just the two of us. Two dishes and a soup should be enough. By the way, why did you book a private room?"

"Because I wanted to spend time with you without any interruptions."

Sophie pressed her lips together, unsure how to respond.

"Saul, I've been meaning to apologize. I initially wanted to develop feelings for you, but I realized I can't see you that way. I'm sorry."

The room fell silent after Sophie spoke.

Saul gave a bitter smile. "I know. I never blamed you."

"You'll find the right girl someday."

"Okay."

They chatted sporadically, and soon the food arrived.

During the meal, Randy kept messaging Sophie.

Seeing Sophie frequently pick up her phone to reply, Saul felt a pang of disappointment. It was clear Sophie liked Randy; otherwise, she wouldn't be texting him during dinner.

As they ate, Sophie suddenly found the screen of her phone becoming blurry.

At first, she thought she was just seeing things. But as she blinked, she felt increasingly dizzy.

Realizing something was wrong, she blacked out.

Her phone fell to the floor, the screen still showing her chat with Randy.

Saul picked up her phone and sent Randy a message saying she was busy and would talk later, then logged out of Facebook.

An hour later, Saul brought Sophie to an abandoned chemical plant on the outskirts of Metropolis.

Electra was already there, and when she saw the unconscious Sophie, she sneered. "Saul, I didn't think you'd go through with it. I thought you might have fallen for Sophie during your time together."

Saul's face was cold. "I don't want to waste words with you. Where's my mom?"

"She's in room 901 of the inpatient building at Harmony Hospital. But are you sure you want to move her? The Ross family is covering all her treatment costs."

"Is it the Ross family covering the costs, or are you just using her to control me? You know the answer."

Electra laughed lightly. "Since you don't appreciate the help, I have nothing more to say. You can move her to Golden Gate Hospital, but the Ross family won't pay another cent."

"Someone will."

"What?"

Electra frowned, about to speak, when a knife pressed against her throat.

Her expression changed, and she snapped, "Saul, are you crazy? Do you believe I can have your mom killed with just one phone call?"

Saul nodded, smiling. "I believe you. But I also realized that the Ross family only has one daughter. If you die, who will inherit the family?"

"You're dreaming! If you harm me, my dad will never let you go!"

"Whether he lets me go or not is none of your concern."

Seeing the killing intent in Saul's eyes, Electra finally felt a twinge of fear.

She forced herself to stay calm, meeting Saul's gaze. "What do you want? Your mom's medical expenses? Or something else?"

Saul shook his head. "No, none of that matters to me. My mom's been in a vegetative state for years. Living or dying doesn't make much difference. Do you know what I kept thinking about on my way here?"

"What?"

"I kept thinking about how, since I can remember, you've treated me like a slave, like a dog. For years, I've tried to stay out of your way, but you never let me go. You kept using my mom to threaten me. Why?"

As he spoke, Saul pressed the knife harder, leaving a cut on Electra's neck.

Electra felt a sharp pain, and her fear grew.

"Saul, put the knife down. I promise I won't boss you around or bully you anymore."

Saul raised an eyebrow. "You look so good when you're scared."

His tone was cold and emotionless, as if discussing the weather.

"What do you want? I can give you money, more than you could ever spend."

"Money? I needed it before. If you'd said this when I was working seven or eight jobs a day and fainting from exhaustion, I might have been grateful. But now, it's too late."

Electra's face turned pale, and she trembled, unable to speak.

She felt Saul genuinely wanted to kill her.

The bodyguards Electra had brought were also caught off guard and didn't dare approach.

They were sent by Ulysses to protect Electra. If anything happened to her, Ulysses wouldn't spare them.

"Saul, think about your mom and the person you like."

Saul laughed coldly. "It's because of the person I like that I decided not to let you control me anymore!"

Electra was on the verge of breaking down. "What do you want? Saul, murder is a crime!"

"I know. But I can gamble that Ulysses won't let me die, knowing I'm his only son. If I die, the Ross family has no heir."

"Even if he can't do anything to you, he'll take it out on your mom."

Saul fell silent, seemingly considering Electra's words.

At that moment, one of Electra's bodyguards quietly approached Saul from behind.

When he was just a few steps away, Saul sneered. "If you come any closer, I'll slit her throat."

The bodyguard froze, hesitating.

Electra screamed, "Stay back! Get away!"

She had felt the knife press closer to her neck.

"He's a madman. He'll kill me!"

As she grew more terrified, the sound of police sirens approached.

Electra's eyes lit up with hope. The bodyguards had called the police!

Soon, several police cars arrived, surrounding them.

Seeing the police, Saul lowered the knife.

Electra seized the opportunity to run towards the police, shouting, "Officer, he tried to kill me! Arrest him!"

As she reached the police, one of them spoke sternly. "Ms. Ross, we received a report that you're involved in a kidnapping. Please come with us for questioning."

Electra was stunned. "What? Kidnapping? You must be mistaken!"

"No mistake. The report came from Saul. You all need to come to the station."

Sophie woke up in the police station, shocked and confused.

She remembered having dinner with Saul, feeling dizzy, and then blacking out.

Seeing her awake, a female officer approached. "Ms. Lee, you're awake. How do you feel? Any discomfort?"

Sophie shook her head, about to speak, when she saw Randy rushing in.

He looked exhausted.

Sophie stood up. "Randy, you..."

Before she could finish, Randy pulled her into a tight hug.

Feeling his strong grip, Sophie instinctively tried to pull away. "Randy, what are you doing? Let go!"

This was a police station. How could he act like this in front of everyone?

After a while, Randy released her.

"Sophie, stay here. I'll handle everything."

Randy had just landed when his assistant called, saying Electra was suspected of kidnapping Sophie, who was now at the police station.

He had been terrified on the way, fearing Sophie was hurt.

Thankfully, she was okay.

Sophie was confused. "What happened? Why am I at the police station?"

"I'll explain later. Don't worry. I'll take care of it. Just wait here."

"Okay."

After Randy and the officer left, Sophie sat down, full of questions.

Later, the female officer and another officer came to take her statement. Sophie learned she had been kidnapped while unconscious.

She was stunned. "There must be a mistake. How could I have been kidnapped?"

Sophie thought she knew Saul well enough. How could he do such a thing?

But her sudden dizziness during dinner was indeed suspicious.
